Is $xcp still alive and where can I trade it?

Why are you even in this chat? Just to misinform people?

LOL... with $75 tx fees, your hilarious

J-Dog
I decided to check out the Ethereum Uniswap & Zapper interfaces last month to play around with the liquidity pools and got some MTA, AMPL, and TEND. Today I decided to Unstake/Withdraw from the liquidity pools... Below is my experience. TL;DR Confusing and spent $300 in fees! https://t.co/M3rhutBbYq
-
Lmao
-
Yep... ETH Defi is ready for mainstream... LOL
-
J-Dog
Register a non-unique name on #Ethereum for $827 in fees, or register a unique name on #Bitcoin using #Counterparty for less than $1 in fees (i paid $0.10 yesterday)... seems like a no-brainer. Bonus, your token is also now on the most secure blockchain #Bitcoin! https://t.co/TxBJYRCcPw
-
J-Dog issues with indie square with the pass phrase, the app isn't allowing the wallet to load while in the app, any troubleshooting ideas or potential updates so I can send and receive the contents?
-
you 12-word passphrase should be portable between wallets. I suggest using your 12-word passphrase in an alternate wallet from counterparty.io/wallets .... I use freewallet.io, but I am biased since I wrote it 😛
-
worst case, you can use the private key from inside indiesquare in any wallet
-
Yeah indiesquare is giving some issues it's not loading the wallet
-
Use the FreeWallet.io or the main site
-
Haha
-
I’ve not been able to use IndieSquare for like a year now. I’ve started using FreeWallet now which is ace, plus the very best support network on this chat.

JDog / John, is there still an issue creating dispensers from FreeWallet? I’ve been trying to create a new PINKPOODLE dispenser today, after hitting ‘create dispenser’ then ‘yes’ to the confirmation pop-up nothing then happens. I’ve tried 3 or 4 times but the confirmation pop-up just closes leaving the create dispenser screen open. Any thoughts?
-
Open up the debug console in freewallet then try again n see if there are any errors in the console. Sounds like an issue generating the tx
-
Click freewallet logo then debug button
-
Actually, looks like the issue is that public.coindaddy.io choked on a transaction in the mempool and died... my restart script detected CP dying and attempted to restart it, but it died a second time trying to find a missing mempool transaction.... CP can act up a little bit under heavy mempool loads.
-
I have restarted counterparty-server and it is parsing blocks now and should be back up in another 10-15 minutes or so when it catches back up on block parsing
-
-
How's the weekend going over here?
-
Haven't had my morning starbucks yet... so still undecided 😛
-
😂😂😂😂
-
just checked out your dego.finance site.... while i'm not a fan of ETH stuff... gotta say looks like a pretty decent site... I enjoy the windows 3.1 retro feels 🙂

Also... project name in actual name is a sneaky way to promote your project... but aint mad at ya... nice way to figure out how to get your URL in front of people without getting reported for spam 🙂

Thanks John I remembered you were looking into it, I’d just got a bit over zealous. I’ll wait a couple of weeks and try again. I presume the same issue will arise creating any CP based card dispenser?

a little help with a few information 👀✍️ for a series im planning with an asset and its possible sub assets just kinda would be helpful and save time and fees to ask these
1. im not sure if this is stupid question if it works this way but if for example i burn an asset the have subassets will the subassets burn too -
2. if i set the asset to zero quantity can i still change it to whatever quantity ?
3. one asset i accidentally made divisible but it is zero quantity . will the sub assets be divisible too or not get affected ? -
1. Assets and subassets are independent... you can burn the parent asset and it will not effect the child/subasset
-
2. As long as you have not locked the supply, you can continue to issue supply
-
3. Assets and subasets are independent from one another... you can have one asset be divisible/non-divisible and the child/subasset be divisible/non-divisible
-
okay thank you for the info 🙏 🐢✍👀

Is this for Chugirator? Hello Foundation?

Thank you everyone. I don’t know if it was appropriate to share here but I felt the urge since CP helped distract my mind even for a few minutes per day over the last week.
During the birth, the baby lost the appropriate oxygen to brain. Resulting in something called Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy, the number 1 leading cause of death in newborns. 25% of all newborn deaths are caused by HIE and only occurs at a rate 1.5 per 1,000 births.
If you’re having a kid, please make sure you ONLY use a medical provider with emergency services on site. Do not use birthing centers etc, ESPECIALLY if it is the moms first child as they do not pop out nearly as easy.
Make sure they have the appropriate medical equipment to monitor the oxygen levels at all times of the baby. -
glad your child got home safe. i will share also my scared experience giving birth to my daughter. 2011 last time i gave birth and i was alone and had to go to charity hospital and was not allowed to communicate to family while in the ward and the woman beside me died due to the lack of care by the nurses in that ward and i was so afraid they even injected my spine twice and they had to remove me from operating table twice as they were about to start on me because some other lady was spurting blood all over the place and had to watch that too and then we ere all in moveable beds in the hallway after giving birth c section they would nt give pain killers untill it is their time for their rounds and there are like 300 women in charity that time so had to wait in extreme pain for like 2 hours after the earlier pain killers had worn out im covered in blood no one to help clean since we not allowed to see family or communicate . whenever i remember it i still sob i had no job that time and was freelance so never got health benefits but other artists went to visit and sent money to my parents. they stuck the needle in my spine twice coz they made mistake and then some other woman in same room as mine where there were two patients sharing a bed in that ward too the orther lady she was pooping in her peeppee coz the doctors made mistake . after i got out i was crying everyday coz one of the intern was measuring my cervhic too often too longand fingers getting weird too and i was too scared to do anything and they were about to operate so i wasso scared. have not slept yet sorry for running sentence
-
sometimes if there is no other option just need to take a chance and if survived then nothing else will matter after until we forget again how fragile and tough a human is
-
Congratulations dude.
-
Thanks for the message, sorry you had to go through that. You seem to be very talented so stay strong.
-
Thanks man!
-
Xcer awesome girl! Glad she made it through!
Ooak, i hear you... Public hospitals here are the same and your story repeats over here daily, hundreds of women losing either their lives out their newborns monthly just because hospitals are jacked full of ppl, glad you made it ok -
Thanks John!
-
thank you, im glad too im still here and my kids are strong they ten yrs apart with different fathers and they watch out for each other, that time when i gave birth no public charity hospital wanted to take me in coz they were full and that was the only one that was required to accept even if full.
-
i will thank you and i kinda imagine im like maybe a little weed hard to just drop dead whatever happens even if no real use or value compared to all the other plants out there kinda like just surviving and shift adapting as needed wherever thrown in i guess.

CIP22 - Change "indexd" to "addrindexrs"
This new proposal changes the current indexd indexing service to a more modern and maintained addrindexrs service, which is the same used by Electrum and SamouraiWallet. Github link for the proposal @jdogresorg would you be so kind to allocate a bounty address for this proposal?

-
300 GB bitcoin core + 400 GB xcp?
-
-
most of the space is taken up with indexd (keeping track of all addresses and balances)
-
yes, addrindexrs will make counterparty much easier to maintain/run for exchanges, etc.
-
also should fix most of the issues in counterwallet which are due to slow indexd lookups
-
-
counterwallet still is old/outdate... but most of the complaints now are due to speed, which will be solved with addrindexrs
-
right now a 1TB SSD drive is prolly advisible
-
-
-
My biggest complaint would be the minimum tx fee
-
Not that big compared to ethereum
-
yeah, its in the next update
-
along with a bunch of other fixes/updates
-
-
Nawww... he is talking about the minimum BTC order amount on the DEX.... currently like 0.01 BTC... gonna drop to like 0.00001 BTC I believe
-
-
misc fixes and BTC Order minimum bump to 0.00001 by jdogresorg · Pull Request #1070 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib
This PR fixes a few issues in Counterparty that are causing database bloat by writing 0 quantity records. This PR also bumps the minimum BTC Order price to 0.00001 BTC.
-
Nice you da man
-
I was wondering if I need to upgrade to 8gb for this 🤔
-
Yeah, the mempool gets full at times, and when that happens XCP takes a long time to parse blocks... more memory helps
-
I run 64 GB in my servers... but that is prolly way overkill for a raspberry pi 😛
-
-
-
What are you building?
-
-
hey ffmad about token asset name do you know why it says 4 to 14 characters but at exactly 14 it doesnt allow have you tried successfully to put that long
-
Nope, couldn't make that long from what I remember
-
At one point we allowed 14 character assets, we no longer allow them... that is why you 14 character asset names are valid, but you can't register one currently
-
okay understood. thank you

the CIP numbers are assigned at random based on when the idea is proposed and CIP established..... Yes, got lots of ideas for how to improve CP.... pretty sure #23 will be oracled dispensers... 🤫
-
Personally I would really like to see the non-turing complete Virtual Machine get implemented, but that is a pretty big undertaking which will require some decent funding... so prolly further out than CIP 23
-
-
Right. Love that idea. Send x to dispenser, if y happens, dispense. If y doesn’t happen, keep.

You may like this video on Counterparty and oracles from a long time ago.... interesting stuff :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlmk5tnoKBQOpiDoki: Truth Made Easy. Chris DeRose's OPI and Blockchain Beach 2104 Hackathon Submisson
OpiDoki is an easy-to-use "Oracle Programming Interface", designed for broadcasting "truth" onto the blockchain. This app enables anyone to easily participate in Counterparty's smart contract and betting system, and facilitates "truth" by executing a user-supplied javascript segment, in a web browser, on a user-submitted web page, at a given time. This is my final "pitch" submitted to the judges for review. Let's hope it wins the $10,000 prize! UPDATE: It did win! here's the url for the github repo, if anyone's curious: https://github.com/brighton36/opidoki

ok. Thanks for your reply.
-
I'm rooting for you.
-
speaking of which how do i get coins on the testnet

i saw a link to it on counterpart website and it was giving me a weird offline message.
-
i'll try again

It’s not betting, it’s a “Prediction Market” 😂
-
-
As currently I'm the only dev and cip writer, it's up to me to create the cip and then get the funding address from the acting treasurer (which defacto had become Jeremy)
-
So prolly when i end cip22 I'll write up cip23 and get the funding address up
-
Some of the needed stuff for the oracled dispensers are being done already (basically preparing some stuff to put the future code)
-
Wakiyama donated far more then CIP 22 required so I would assume CIP 23 will probably already be fully funded. But yes, some sort of incentive for donators would be nice.
-
yup, the idea is getting some chainlink-like action for dispensers
-
the extra-funds are being used to merge all the lingering issues and do some long outstanding cleanup
-
-
FYI 4,000 XCP up for grabs in a dispenser for a fair price.
-
86 cents per xcp....
-
not bad
-
No way I’m selling at the price. But that owner has 30,000 so it’s not like he’s emptying his bags.
-
seems like so
-
its in a dispenser, so yeah
-
-
-
Go 1.9 is no longer available. Please refer to(website was here) for more information.
-
is this where can change dispenser ask price with sign msg or sorry im curiuos what oracle is
-
an oracle is an external feed that relates the price of an external asset to a coin asset (in this cae, because it's a dispenser, to bitcoin)
-
so for example, you can have an oracle broadcast the BTC/USD exchange rate (in inverse order) and then specify the dispenser in terms of multiples of the oracle amount
-
effectively creating a dispenser pegged to a usd value
-
-
oh like a trigger?
-
setting a trigger to do what you want at a specific time/price ?
-
price. lets you adjust the price on the dispenser.
-
ooh okay
-
it's an auto-adjusting price
-
oh very cool
-
I’m thinking in terms of a video game... two players, player 1 wins, dispenser dispenses to winner via oracle feed?
-
no, that's not the idea
-
Ha ok, so maybe down the road 😆
-
A dispenser is a vending machine. You can adjust the price of the items in the vending machine, but a vending machine is not a game 😛
-
You should look into Counterparty betting support for what your trying to do... its already built in
-
1.) oracle operator broadcasts feed with basic event info and betting options
-
2.) PLAYER 1 takes position 1
-
3.) PLAYER 2 takes position 2
-
4.) EVENT happens and Oracle broadcasts results
-
5.) Counterparty protocol pays out escrowed XCP directly to the winner (after taking the oracle feed opreators fee)
-
Becoming a Bitcoin Oracle: How To Publish a Counterparty Feed
Did you know that you may be able to generate an extra income stream just by publishing simple information onto the Bitcoin blockchain using the Counterparty protocol?
-
-
-
-
no, betting functionality works fine... just no one is operating oracles so no betting... but you can easily start up an oracle and place bets.... mess around with it on testnet... I setup a sports betting book a few years ago on CP just to play around with the betting functionality.... didn't get much traction, but can verify all worked as it should
-
Is it like also can be for a bidding
-
Can be?
-
no, this is for betting only. Bidding would best be done off-chain... who wants to pay a BTC fee to use ebay everytime you want to place a bid? not me.... but doing it offchain makes more sense... just setup some bidding software to capture bids at no cost, then when someone wins, they have X amount of time to submit payment or else it goes to winner #2 who has X amount of time to submit payment or it goes to winner #3... etc etc
-
When you use a blockchain, you really need to ask yourself if this can be done more efficiently using a centralized database/service.... in most cases, the answer is yes 🙂
-
-
Oh I see hehe thank you
-
-
No. Dispensers use BTC.... makes no sense to try and get USD BTC price info from DEX since the DEX doesnt' trade BTC/USD.
-
Just wait, it'll be explained once the code is written... same as it was with dispensers 🙂
-
-
-
-
-
Is there a good write up on how to use the betting feature? I know it was taken out of counterwallet a while ago. I don't recall seeing it in freewallet either.
-
thats would be nice for some election fun
-
It's there, just disabled for US ips 😉
-
Fair enough. Still, would be nice to have a writeup.
-
Counterwallet just has betting interface disabled for US ips (hint, you can use a VPN to see it)... Freewallet doesn't have any betting support... I had planned on writing a slick betting interface which would make it easy for anyone to run an oracle, and provide an interface to see all the open/closed feeds and make it easy to bet on them.... but alas, got no real funding for dev, so lost interest in building it out.
-
DevTut: Enhanced Feed Info | Counterparty
Developers/Notes_and_Tutorials/enhanced_feed_info.md
-
This may be helpful... a bit more info on how to structure an enhanced feed
-
as an oracle operator, you basically just create the JSON with the feed data which indicates bet options and time when bet will resolve and the feed fee..... after that, people can bet against the feed... once the event happens, the feed operator just needs to broadcast the result
-
All the betting and escrowing and paying to winner and extracting feed operators fee happens automatically by the protocol... oracle operators just broadcast events to bet on and the results... and then collect a fee off any placed bets 🙂

Anyone can broadcast a whitelist using the broadcast feature... currently no plans to implement lists in CP... every time a list is broaadcast, CP has to store the contents, so we want to discourage that type of behavior... or tax the hell out of it by adding on an XCP cost...... I don't know about you, but I don't want the CP database running slow for everyone because a few users uploaded massive lists.... maintaining lists is not really the route we want to go
-
Makes more sense to allow CP to point at externally maintained lists.... so an asset owner could just do something like create an issuance and point to a external data source like a JSON file with a list of addresses allowed to hold/use the token..... allows the asset owner to maintain the list, without having to store it all on-chain, and the costs/bloat associated with that.
-
I think our efforts are better spent on getting a functional Virtual Machine (VM) where we can do some really fun stuff, vs just tweaking our existing features slightly to support lists, etc.
-
👍
-
also, it's already 2-3 minutes per-block
-
-
-
-
-
I believe you can configure counterparty to talk to a bitcoind instance other than the fednode.... but, pretty sure you can only do a fednode install which includes bitcoin
-
-
-
think it works
-
to use your already existing bitcoin instance you can run without fednode
-
i'm trying to get a fednode version where there's the possibility to use an external bitcoin node, but the fednode software is showing its age tbh

when will XCP list on big exchanges please
-
Almost all exchanges now are paid listings. Feel free to pay the listing fee (usually 1-5 BTC) to get Counterparty on an exchange of your choice. Everyone wants XCP on an exchange, but no one wants to do what it actually takes to get it listed. We are working on improvements to make Counterparty easier for exchanges to integrate, but at the end of the day, it comes down to someone has to pay for the listing, and no one here has stepped up in that regard. Personally I dont think that we should pay for any exchange listing... but unfortunately, this is the world we live in now 🙁
-
-
true... hence why I said "almost all" 🙂
-
If you can get XCP listed on an exchange and not have to pay for the listing, awesome! I get emails weekly asking about getting XCP on different exchanges, in almost all cases, they want a BTC payment for listing.
-
-
-
-
Yep. I know there was some effort being put into getting XCP listed on various exchanges a few months ago.... not sure what ever happened with that... I fully support getting XCP listed on exchanges, but am not paying for it out of my own pocket, nor spending any of my time focused on that effort..... Others in the community can take up that cause if it is important to them... might want to check with @wampum and see where the foundation is with exchange listings, etc.

Defi has been getting hacked and all sorts of drama may compromise counterparty but that's just my opinion
-
I do know if it was presented correctly CP could be seen as the new no kyc banking platform without boarders if it could be integrated with samurai wallet or liquid (Lbtc) wallet platform
-
its a vending machine. You set how much of an asset to put in the vending machine, how much to sell per vend, and the price per vend..... then anyone can just send BTC directly to your dispenser address and get sent back the ASSET from the dispenser/vending machine
-
-
Here is an example vending machine (it is now closed since all XCP was purchased from the dispenser/vending machine)
-
-
exactly... makes creating a token and selling for a set BTC price easy
-
next up oracled dispensers... so you can set the price you want to sell for in USD instead of BTC 🤫
-
-
It still in the works... but entirely doable... John is working on the details
-
no need for stablecoins
-
just need a good oracle
-
i like to call "stable" coins "establishmentcoins"
-
yup
-
payable on bitcoin
-
It's a bitcoin sidechain
-
Lmao
-
It is this I why I'm like why this place isn't flooded
-
nope, not sidechain, oracle, entirely different.... just need CP to parse in a trusted price oracle to be able to determine what $5 worth of Bitcoin is.... after that, just trigger vends on that price, etc.
-
also, oracles will be able to "charge" an usage fee, somehow
-
Oracle? Always thought it was side chained. Learned something new today lol
-
oracles just broadcast truth... something you can get data from and trust 🙂
-
Even better
-
How do you not know what a dispenser is yet 😂
I wrote this if you need some more info https://www.xprotectx.com/post/bitcoin-dispensers-on-counterparty -
in his defense, we say NOTHING about dispensers on the counterparty.io website, nor about MPMA, or the new sweeps, etc.... the website is outdated and doesnt tout the most current features.... this is what happens when you have coders but no marketers.... features get added, API docs get updated, but marketing materials dont get updated, etc.
-
I’ve just seen Pepe a lot, maybe not in this room. That’s why I was surprised.
But yes I agree. -
if only someone would write a cip and delineate what need to be done to update the page, and then propose it, get it funded and rake in some btc.... one only can dream someone wants some money
-
ikr but i do tell ppl some the new features now that i want the platform to be used in my country's payment infrastructure
-
detail the features to me and i'll put together the proposal
-
-
it's possible, but it would add ~120 bytes per tx

How can i create a dispenser?

"Phony" is what Holden Caulfield calls everyone in the Catcher in the Rye. Anyway it would be nice to connect with the owner of RAREPEPE on BitShares if it is a "scientist"
-
It's active on the BitShares exchange

Here is a link to the CIP repo

If your wanting to write up a CIP, I would suggest you familiaize yourself with the CIP process... this should help :) https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/cips/blob/master/cip-0001.mdcips/cip-0001.md at master · CounterpartyXCP/cips

There is only one Bitcoin... we have seen what happens to forks... some believers will fork off with their new chain and claim it is the main chain "Bitcoin Cash is the real Bitcoin".... you've seen how well that has worked out for them.
-
IMO, fed is gonna wrap their arms around the crypto problem the same way they have in the past.... creating a currency they can manipulate/control/print more of..... a government supported fiat-backed Tether of sorts... why would they want to use a blockchain with an actual hardcap supply limit enforced..... vs just being able to print more "Evilcorp" stablecoins 🙂
-
Watch Mr Robot 🙂
-
-
"allow"... Bitcoin is permissionless bro.. they aint allowing shit... they just can't stop it 🙂
-
i like that mr robot series too
-
They are painted into a corner now.... cant use the Bitcoin is only for criminals narrative... got legit companies and investors holding BTC now, so they have no choice..... the people have spoken and choose uncensorable permissionless Bitcoin 🙂
-
Funny enough, I still have the last season to watch... I lost interest right after they burned the world down with the hacks 🙂
-
They’ll deter citizens from holding dirty bitcoins.
-
how?
-
i didnt know there was another season i just saw the first one hehe
-
all they can control is the onramps and offramps to fiat.... the companies you "cash out" through....
-
Beauty is, you just gotta hold BTC... the ecosystem is being built around you, the longer you hold, the less likely your going to need to "cash out" to fiat. 🙂

My ex-wife was a corporate compliance officer at JPMorgan chase for a number of years.... Started a crypto compliance business (https://www.cryptocompliance.io/) with a really great lawyer friend who has lots of crypto experience (https://luminousgroup.io/).... Big companies and Bitcoin ATM companies come to them with their ideas and platforms and she advises them on how to do everything legal, comply with all the banking laws/regulations like Know your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money-Laundering (AML) programs, Office of Foriegn Assets (OFAC) lists, Banking and Secrecy Act (BSA), and some others..... got a pretty good window into what the gov is doing with cryptos and how they are treating them.... they are way WAY behind
-
They are still playing wack-a-mole with enforcement actions
-
-
-
First step is to create a post on counterpartytalk.org to discuss the updates and poll the community, etc.... feel free to reach out if you need any help or have any questions 🙂
-
-
yes, currently able to track bitcoin pretty easily through services like https://www.chainalysis.com/ ... but again, all they can do is prevent you from using companies that fall under their regulations... They getting their lunches eaten with this DEFI stuff. The Blockchain Data Platform - Chainalysis
Chainalysis helps government agencies, cryptocurrency businesses, and financial institutions engage confidently with cryptocurrency.
-
I believe it was EvilCoin
-
-
-
-
Nope. If someone did, they could have it.
