you can trade XCP on the DEX or at chainrift.com
-
i've been into xcp for years. i don't post much or ask much, mostly because i don't want to look stupid for not being tech-savvy. but i endorse the ban-heavy environment here that weeds out trolls and scammers.

also, when asset divisilibity reset CIP?

If you bought 1 Xcp for $ 85, it's not my fault😹

However, Floyd was paid to promote. The foundation isn’t paying anyone. You’re simply allowing the ability to say we approve the use of x site. You are not earning anything in return for that ability.
Yes, server power, but J owns that power, not the foundation. If the foundation wants its own server, they need to pay someone or deploy it. -

There’s no denying that. It’s fact and transparent. Being a legal entity does not officiate anything.
And as long as the board acts in good faith to abide the law, no way will they come after you.

Remember when people wanted to raise money to unlock the DEX? This thread makes it seem like the btc pair used to be more widely Available. Who was in charge of Counterparty when this decision was made? https://www.reddit.com/r/counterparty_xcp/comments/df9pr0/so_the_xcp_team_decided_to_remove_the_free_btcpay/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

If the feature was disabled in counter wallet due to security, why does FreeWallet sell access to this vulnerability?
-
Do the people who are determining the timing of CIP 21 share their XCP transaction history?
-
The BTCpay feature was disabled in COUNTERWALLET by the founders of Counterparty over 5 years ago (before I joined counterparty)... the reason that the feature was disabled is that in order for BTCpay transactions to work in counterwallet, the user had to leave counterwallet open in a browser window, in many cases leaving the window open for days, which meant that anyone who had access to the computer could easily have access to the entire funds of the counterparty wallet. The decision was made by the 5 original founders.
This is the reason that counterwallet disabled BTCpay, because it required 2 transactions and the wallet had to stay open which is highly insecure.
The reason that Freewallet desktop client has BTCpay support is because I decided that people should have a way to use BTC on the DEX, and since counterwallet was not going to support it, I would. I spent a good amount of time writing code in freewallet to make it work with BTCpay transactions, and as a result freewallet is the only counterparty wallet which supports using BTC on the DEX. -
Freewallet desktop/mobile and so on can more securely manage the btc payment flow than the previous web based btc payment
-
TL;DR... freewallet runs as a standalone app which a can be locked...counterwallet doesnt
-
All xcp transaction history is publicly visible.

-
where did you hear that?
-
i'm working with the guys at SoG and they are prolly moving to hazama
-
so they retain XCP compatibility
-
i could be wrong tho... long time without speaking with the EDS team
-
Maybe they are going to support several blockchains... See here --- https://t.me/EverdreamSoftEDS Crystal Suite

Since I am following the conversation there: What they actually said was that they are looking into the possibility to issue some of the SoG cards into other blockchains. The way of doing this is that they are considering burning a certain amount of cards that the company currently holds, and issue the same amount of cards in a different blockchain. Hence the number of cards in circulation will remain the same. Never said that they are moving the SoG to another blockchain. Just a small experiment for adoption, since there is a big base of active blockchain asset holders and blockchain gamers in other blockchains (i.e. ethereum, EOS).
-
So if you are holding a SATOSHICARD (for example) in either your counterparty or Ethereum wallet, that asset will be recognized withing the SoG game. They are building the tools (i.e Crystalsuit/casa tookan) in oder to support multiple blockchain intergation.
-
-
yeap! I saw your listing there... I do not disagree with you. 😊
-
I am also a hodler of many cards (not a partner though)

How hazama project is progressing?

If I recall correctly is the "venting machine" that they were talking. You put one coin (ie BTC), you get a token. However you need to have some trust to the middleman...

Nothing is done to prevent an adversary from seeing this, but it's not recorded. For example, an adversary running a node on the network might be able to see the origin of a transaction, but it would require actively watching the network; it cannot be determined later.
-
For an example of preventing this sort of de-anonymization see the Dandelion protocol used in Mimblewimble blockchains, that uses multiple methods to obscure the origin of a transaction.
-
Having said that, I bet a lot of the activity associated with your specific Bitcoin address are originated from the same node using the same IP, unless you're taking steps to avoid that predictability.
-
So in theory it requires an active attack AFAIK, but in practise I can probably say with high confidence from which IP adress that broadcast came from if I operate a node. Am I missing something guys?
-
The only IP address that is recorded related to a bitcoin transaction is the IP address where the transaction was first broadcast/seen..... in most cases with xcp, the IP address will be either the counterwallet or public.coindaddy.io ip as that is where most transactions are broadcast.
-
So the counterparty database will have the right IP recorded if using the reference wallet because it avoids using coindaddy API? Good to know.
-
Also, poking around github a little I can't help but see what appears to be support for dispensers. Is this working on testnet already?
-
No, counterparty stores no IP address info.... one could modify the node code to save up addresses if they wanted, but no IP address info is stored in CP.
-
That makes more sense :)
-
Dispenser code is pretty far along, no?
-
Maybe a @chiguireitor question...
-
✋
-
it's on master
-
and there's an activation block already in
-
next days should get activated
-
Yes, code for dispensers has been up for a while, been testing dispensers in dev... it’ll be released this next week.... we haven’t activated the code or put out a new release yet
-
-
Nice work, that should help out a lot with XCP!
-
-
Soon 😜
-
-
-
-
Yeah, we have an issue in counterwallet that needs resolved... that was supposed to be 420 satoshis per token not 420btc 😜
-
420 BTC for smoke weed? must be pretty dank
-
Also will be able to view/pull a list of dispensers setup for a given address or asset...
-
-
-
Nothing but the best😜
-
Oh that looks good, looks like a separate tab to show which dispensers and how much they can dispense.
-
Yep.... and api support... can pull list of all dispensers for an asset and then just use the cheapest👍🏻

Counterparty
Counterparty 9.57.0 released! This release adds support for dispensers, sweeps, a bitcoin version bump, and many other improvements. All users running servers are encouraged to upgrade ASAP. https://t.co/JfxeZBlbuM #Counterparty #bitcoin #XCP $XCP
-
Big update!! 😀🙏
-
indeed.... also have support for dispensers on xchain... and a few dispensers have already been setup.
-
-
Anyone can use one of the counterwallet servers to setup a dispenser now 🙂
-
It just became MUCH easier to register a token and sell it for BTC on counterparty 🙂
-
Ooh very nice! Excited to check out and have a play with this functionality later.
-
Big shout out to @chiguireitor for all his hard work on this release!
-
Will also continue on with dialog with. exchanges that were awaiting this upgrade now it is ready.
-
cool! Please let me know if there is anything you need that could help.
-
+1, thanks to all involved with this release.
-
Will do. 👍
-
-
Now we just need demand for Counterparty assets
-
-
Same to you for testing j
-
-
-
With the bitcoin version bump up to 0.18.1, the low fee relay issue seems to be gone... I was sending transactions earlier for 250 satoshis that were being relayed fine and getting into the next block 🙂
-
-
-
Great news!! 😊
-
Protocol-level sweeps are huge, congrats
-
Problem is...
-
Who will maintain all that?
-
Atm it's just jdog and me
-
And believe me... I wish the day had 48 hrs to implement all i want to do on Counterparty
-
I have this mind bending VM in my brain, but there's not enough hours with the current budget to develop it
-
And as much as I'd like to see Counterparty fully bloom, i need to bring the bread to the table
-
And of course, I've too dabbled into the idea of Counterparty running it's own show
-
But..
-
-
Hey guys, how do you send with a memo? I can't get freewallet desktop to send, not sure if it's because I am trying to include a memo.
-
Counterwallet wouldn't login and coindaddy was an error page yesterday, could try that again, is server back up?
-
public.coindaddy.io is down right now while updating the system.... that is why the transaction won't send in freewallet or counterwallet.io right now..... wait a couple hours and things should be back up again and right as rain 🙂
-
Welp, tbh, that's kinda what hazama is
-
Indiesquare has been developing that with me at the head of the product

hi guys
-
👍
-
What does dispenser feather do?
-
think of a dispenser like a vending machine.... you give it some money, it gives you some food..... except in this case, you send some BTC to the dispenser, it credits you with a token (ie, it shows up in your wallet)
-
I guess it will be updated it freewallet and help trading on dex easier?
-
Currently I still find difficult trading on dex with btc
-
Yes, the next version of freewallet will have support for dispensers... and this makes getting/selling a token for BTC easier than using the DEX.
-
Yes, it is difficult to trade with BTC on the DEX, that is why we created dispensers
-
-
Should it be some article detail about it?
-
You simply find a dispenser that is selling the token you want.... then you send BTC to the dispenser address and your sent back a token 🙂
-
I am sure more articles will be written about the feature as it becomes used... it was just released today
-
Its will be helpful for more people to know in order to attract them to dex
-
This simply makes using BTC on CP easier.... you send BTC, you get a token

agreed... and more info on dispensers will be coming soon... for right now, the only docs are the API documentation, the CIP, and the code.

-
this may be a reoccurring downfall with the assumptions of XCP. dont mean to step on your toes, jdog. but it is painful to see everyone have to learn the hard way. I think ron is right.
I was talking to John about the nuances last night, and there should really be some explaining done before it is publicly known that anyone can set up. They need to know how to make the right choices along the way. How about anyone who is interested can build on this document and hopefully we can include it on the website, newsletter or both. -

current content:
CounterParty Dispenser Information (Draft)
Now each bitcoin address may act as a vending machine of sorts. When a set amt of btc is set to that address the system will return the said tokens at the rate specified by the user. This option may be found in the standard wallet by clicking the menu icon on the token wished to be dispensed. On the pannel that pops up there will be options to set the desired rates.
(insert field names and what they mean)
These kinds of orders do not expire.
If there are multiple dispensers in one address, then one btc receipt will send multiple different tokens, depending on the amount sent.
They send based on the amount received, so you could sell packs of tokens for one price if there are multiple dispensers in the same wallet.
to confirm, if i have two contracts, one at .01 and one at .02 in the same wallet/bitcoin address, then:
if someone sends .1 btc they get ten of one and five of the other in return.
What happens when/if someone sends to a dispenser too much at to not be evenly divisible based on contract rate?
One of the sends will fail and will not dispense
if the buyer sends too much the overage becomes a tip. No change is given by the system. -
Looks good so far... and just so it is clear, I am 100% supportive of more documenation, howtos, examples, notes, etc on Counterparty, I just don't have the time to write them.... but I am happy to help promote/link/tweet to help get the word out about any info

thanks for clarifying. i was not trying to imply that it was your fault, but that someone has to step up when they see things need to be done. today it is me, but perhaps next time itll be the new guy. Institutional incentives would really encourage new actors to direct their time and energy to the right place :D This especially includes making sure the contributions by the community are readily accessible to other users.
For example. newcomers would have no idea that using theDEX for xcp/btc is basically a gamble as is, with no added service tokens or advanced knowledge of bitpay, etc. When i first learned this lesson by pissing away so many tx fee, the chat room basically said, "yeah, and?" It was assumed that I should have known better. I would even go as far as to say that without the real-time support of the community offered on telegram, this project, in general, appears confusing and disjointed at best.
I would rather see the community of hardcore users and volunteers come together to codify some common sense so that the noobs to the platform can be afforded the experience of success and then continue their relationship. All too often new users are lost on the first day. -
we have some hard work ahead to tackle the multiple issues that affect xcp prosperity in general. After some things are in place, then we should actively invite new users. Valuation determination by the market will naturally be more pleasing to investors as it will have a solid, organic base if fruited on a grass-roots marketing effort.

Thanks buddy!

check counterwallet.io... you can see there are multiple servers... so if one is down, you can use the other ones 🙂
-
The coindaddy server has been up all day

The counterwallet server is in the process of updating after experiencing some issues with indexd.... it should be up in a bit

Blockchain digital currency
-
It's not a fraud. Biki exchange is looking for TUR.
-
and you can dispenser XCP? so this makes the BTC/XCP tradable on a wallet like freewallet?
-
you can dispense ANY counterparty asset
-
just make sure it's on another address, not your main address
-
i.e. most ppl will want to create a dispenser on a unused address
-
dispensers are unidirectional
-
-
I’m not sure what this means
-
while you can dispense a token or xcp for BTC you cannot recieve that token and send out BTC
-
-
-
yeah, it's practically impossible to escrow BTC on-chain
-
so doing it the other way: receive asset, give btc, trustlessly is a no-go
-
may i add.... it's practically impossible for "non-interactive" escrows on-chain
-
you can do an interactive escrow no problem with timelocks
-
Think the dispenser model, even if unidirectional seems cleaner and less cumbersone than timelocked/shared secret reveal etc swaps.
-
-
-
As long as party on one side can express an interest in other side setting up an order (or if dispenser is already set up) they can get filled
-
Oh yeah. fair enough, didn't mean to imply you were criticizing it.
-
-
-
Can a user check the quantity each dispenser opener holds in escrow easily?
-
relative to the quantity it's set to vend/dispense on each order?
-
Yes.... it says the amount remaining on the dispenser page
-
-
Here is an examples... I escrowed 100 XCP... 2 were sent out to people, meaning I have 98 left..... notice the "give remaining" 98
-
Great. Thank you.
-
of course... i'll be updating xchain today with more info on dispensers... including a scannable qrcode, and a list of dispense transactions
-
feel free to "give remaining" anytime 😎
-
-
So for example, If one was to have 1 billion cooltooken and they set up a dispenser dispensing 10 cooltoken a time, if someone on the other side checked the escrow remaining, prior to sending (btc) they could be confident in placing an order knowing (in that case) there would be very little risk of token send not fulfilling?
-
As I understand there is no requirement to escrow more than the amount a particular dispenser dispenses on a single action (although recommended).
-
You are correct... if you check the vending machine before you send a BTC payment, and you send the BTC payment with a high enough fee to get in a block fast, you can have a high level of confidence that you will get a token.... however, if the vending machine is running low on tokens, there is always the risk that multiple people try to purchase from the vending machine at the same time could empty the vending machine.... so when your BTC payment arrives the dispenser could be out of the token...... This is another reason why I am putting a list of "dispense" transactions on the site, so you can see how quickly the tokens are selling, in what quantities, and to whom, etc.
-
Feel like the risk of running into a dispenser that gets emptied mid txn would be fairly low assuming A) most set up dispensers the recommended way with more 'collateral' than what's dispensed each time and B) user checks qty held before placing an order. also c) we're hardly talking high volume value swaps here. , hell, wouldn't be surprised if someone would manually send over any tokens of borked transactions and/or refund. Risk level seems very low
-
Perhaps a UI level flag on the wallet that shows users particular vending machine is "nearly out of stock" like the one's helpful people put on train stations when the kitkats and pepsis don't drop properly would be good. But then again probably overkill, all seems fine if using common sense, which I think most users that even know what a dex is have
-
Awesome. Very cool to hear that- will make the process even more smooth 👍
-
Good suggestion... i'll try to work a warning about low supply into the dispsensers pages 🙂
-
Honestly this whole dispenser thing is awesome, it's just getting the word out about it to new audiences.
If only USDT was on Counterparty, not Omni- that would be a nice trustless p2p crypto-fiat market for users that would previously have gone through a centralized service -
btw.... use only well known dispensers, in the case of one txn borking because the dispenser was emptied/cancelled you will probably want to contact the owner
-
Why?
-
because the dispenser gets activated whenever you receive bitcoin at the address
-
Ohh of course
-
Thx @chiguireitor
-
so it could happen that you transfer from another wallet to your "main" wallet and inadvertently activate the dispenser
-
👍
-
- 27 October 2019 (36 messages)
-
Does it cost 0.0005 BTC to create a dispenser?
-
There is no set cost to setup a dispenser... it is just like every other counterparty transaction where you can set your own transaction fee depending on how fast you want the transaction processed.
-
If you go into counterwallet and try to setup a dispenser, you can see the bitcoin fee slider.....
-
-
Ok. I got a message in counter wallet that said I should have .0005 btc in my address.
-
can someone explain why we should use a new address for the dispenser?
-
x
-
-
-
What does that mean?
-
-
and the sending address will get the token I’m dispensing?
-
-
Can I only do one dispenser per address then?
-
-
-
-
You can setup multiple dispensers on an address if you want to sell multiple cards at once... like packs of cards... could setup 5 dispensers on the same address all setup to vend a token at 0.01 BTC..... so when someone sends 0.01 BTC to the address, they get 5 different cards from the 5 dispensers
-
-
🙂
-
-
dispensers also work on testnet... if you want to play around with them and test stuff before doing it in production/mainnet
-
Are you dogs?
-
Uhh, woof
-
😂😂
-
yeah it would be great if this can be spelled out in the document that I suggested we work on because I thought it was obvious based on my explanation. I took it a step further and noted that if you have different amounts set the receiver can get different quantities
-
Okay. This makes more sense. Thanks.
-
now I just need to find people who want to trade Counterparty assets

If the dispensers had tokens remaining, then yes..... but check the status of the dispensers before sending to ensure that the status is still active and that there are still some give_remaining

2500 XCP ask at 0.00018 on Chainrift.
-
Why would someone buy XCP?
-
Well you need it to create assets
-
shut up, James
-
-
-
It's nice how dispensers are destroyed when the asset is depleted. For those of us too lazy to dig through github - if an amount higher than the dispenser amount set is received does it dispense?
-
e.g. I have one dispenser for 1 BTC and another for 2 BTC - if someone sends 2 BTC they get both?
-
👆 both dispensers at same address
-
-
Yes, you can send MORE BTC than the dispenser is requesting.... the dispenser will send you tokens until it is empty.... so, say you had a dispenser setup to vend at 1 TOKEN at 1 BTC.... and the dispenser only had 1 token left to vend... if you sent a 2 BTC payment to the dispenser, you would receive 1 TOKEN.
-
If the dispenser is setup at 1 BTC and you send 1.01 BTC, you stil get the dispenser sending you the token.... and you just gave the operator a 0.01 BTC tip
-
in my example the sender would get 2 of the cheaper tokens and also get the expensive one?
-
Best to check dispeners for give_remaining before sending payment, and only send payment for the exact amount on the dispenser
-
Yes, in your example of sending 2 BTC (and assuming both dispeners were full of tokens), you would get 2 tokens from the 1BTC dispenser and 1 token from the 2 BTC dispeners... 3 tokens total
-
cool, thanks! it seems like this could be a useful strategy too
-
of course bro 🙂

I want to sell XCP. Can I set up a dispenser with counterwallet?
-
I wonder how will people find dispensers, and find the dispenser with the best price? Is there a new API call to see if an address has dispensers?
-
yes, click on the menu thing for XCP and you'll see a new choice - create dispenser
-
Yes, there is APIs on xchain to look up dispensers by address or asset.... you also can query counterparty directly for that info... Here is an example of looking up dispeners of a given asset.

Here is an example of looking up dispensers for a given address

At ChainRIft, now you can try out our exchange with small amounts with an unverified account.
-
You're limited to only $2.5K withdrawal per day but at least this gives you an opportunity to test our exchange before committing to trading with larger capital.
-
So you have no more excuse to not trade at our exchange! :)
-
awesome!

Rare Pepe Party
With the new dispensers feature activated on Counterparty we're initiating the sales of starter packs with the unreleased series 18 and 19 cards from the rarepepe directory. More interesting updates for backers at https://t.co/ezvQ2dVAeo

This is awesome. I’m buying one.

Wierd... DM me about any issues with freewallet tomorrow and i'll take a look when I have some time.
-
How much btc worth of a farm do you want? .5’s worth?
-
-
Broke boy
-
Speaking of being broke... I don’t understand why counter wallet gives me an error when trying to move a token (saying I need .0005 btc) when I have enough btc for a transaction - .0001
-
I’m boarderline a Counterparty power user and don’t understand this
-
broken logic inside counterwallet
-
counterwallet really needs a rewrite from scratch
-
Also got HELLA json errors trying to move realistic amounts of btc around for these dispenser fees.
-
I give up
-
if I give up, can’t imagine a casual Counterparty user would be able to make it work
-
it's because when updating blocks, counterwallet goes moronic
-
really... counterwallet has served its time
-
....well counterwallet server was having troubles too, had to use coindaddy.
-
what plans does the foundation have to make this more user friendly?
-
i would rather get the community supporting freewallet which already has a lot of the functionality without the need to code it from scratch
-
could you elaborate?
have you considered drafting and funding a CIP? -
-
-
both, and we both have been doing it behind the scene
-
typical 1am work
-
-
I'm surprised to find a limit of one dispenser per asset per address. Any particular reason for this?
-
yeah, it doesn't makes any sense to have more than 1 dispenser per asset per address
-
WHy not?
-
it would just confuse the user
-
If users can figure out how to use counterwallet and counterparty assets they can probably figure this out too.
-
If your getting an error about an invalid balance and needing to send more BTC.... it could be because you have a bunch of tiny dust UTXOs that are making your transaction huge...... you might want to try gathering all your dust first before sending more BTC
-
use a wallet like electrum.... import the private key... send all your BTC back to your original address.... that will gather all your UTXOs into a single usable utxo.... THEN try in counterwallet again
-
Well if you ever feel like removing that code preventing more than one dispenser, the use case is giving more for larger purchases. "Send 1 BTC and get one XYZ, or send 2 BTC and get 3 XYZ"
-
"get a bonus XYZ for free when you buy 2" - Done by setting up a second dispenser giving 1 XYZ when 2 BTC is sent. The complexity is on the person setting it up, not the user who is buying.
-
There is no code preventing more than one dispenser..... you can setup multiple dispensers on the same address.
-
jsut not multiple per asset iirc
-
RIght dispensers per asset per address, I just didn't repeat that part since I said it earlier.
-
got ya.
-
Forgot to mention a slight bug in coindaddy version of counterwallet - does not seem to allow fractional amounts of BTC to activate dispenser. If only I had assets worth whole multiples of BTC eh?
-
Lol if only
-
screenshot of the error please.... I am able to setup a dispenser fine on coindaddy counterwallet for a fraction of BTC.
-
-
wait, you don't?
-
wow, what a poor
-
bitcoin isn't meant for people like you, take your coffee txes somewhere else
-
-
OK I'll try again, this was last night
-
Try to clear your cache first and then try again.... we did have an issue a while ago with only being able to sell tokens for whole BTC amounts.... but that got fixed a couple weeks ago... could be your still seeing cached code
-
I happen to like bitgirls 😂
-
Yay no probs! I musta had the old javascript cached sure enough. sorry for the false alert
-
No worries. Easy fix 😛

gateway drugs are needed

Sustainable and realistic plans attract the quality new blood. The kind of people you attract with promises of pumps aren't the kind you want.

new wallet will get new blood
-
Nah, I'm saying take the path Monero did. It'll be slow, but it's sustainable.
-
or maybe nothing
-
You don't need to promise hypedreams.
-
not every project is monero, or the, you know, pump pipe dreams of , idk dark markets something something
-
really trying to develop some kind of vm is not promising anything
-
so , xcp is delisted, what happened to the activitiy then?
-
It's a dead end, it's not where the protocol needs to go
-
/4 sweep tx
-
People only seem to want the VM because it'll draw hype
-
Not because it's actually, you know, useful
-
no , you could do all kinds of shit if it worked
