if such idiot would get rarepepe, lets pretend he would get nakamoto card, hypothetically.
1. he can list the card half of the price
2. front run every attempt to buy
3. Keep relisting cheaper and cheaper in attempt for a new victims and at the same time drag your grail price down to shit. to ZERO. -

It's probably badly scripted

Hello, i noticed when using a ledger nano and rpw, the output looks like 0x... on my ledger. Is there a way to figure out what it means translated to btc addy?
-
-
-
kickstart bypasses the rpc interface and reads directly from the block files
-
Thanks.
Once kickstart is complete, it synchs in real time?
Why would one choose not to use kickstart? Is there a specific reason why? -
Once kickstart is complete the process terminates and you have to start bitcoind and then run counterparty-server start to continue syncing from where kickstart left off.
-
-
(kickstart will be obviated with v11)
-
Damn, I was thinking that wouldn’t be possible with dispenser history
-
ah nope actually I think (? @teysol ) that all the consensus issues dispensers are causing are related to addrindexrs, which will be killed as part of v11
-
-
lol v10 at a high level was "unbreak it"

my messages here lay out the goals of v10, v10.1 and v11. You can also follow along on GitHub, where @teysol meticulously manages the milestones: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/milestonesMilestones - CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core

what you are describing is BTCPay and it's been around since day one.

that doesn't and cannot exist

what can exist is trustless atomic swaps between bitcoin and counterparty assets. And that will be implemented.

(I know you know that @B0BSmith)

then why do we have such function lol?

I was not part of the decision to implement dispensers. I agree that they should be replaced but on the whole people seem to like them and to accept the risk they may get front-run.

So tokens created prior to the stamp being issued are prunable but ones created at token issuance are not prunable?
-
-
I think the way it is being phrased is that the art is unpruneable.
You are correct, the transfer after the issuance will most likely be encoded in an op return and will be pruneable. -
The issuance itself will hold thé art/data encoded in unspendable utxos
-
Per the whitepaper nothing wrong with pruneable outputs 🤷♀️
-
It's good blockchain hygiene. Counterparty supporting unpruneable outputs is a historical arifact from when the Bitcoin developers tried to kick us off the blockchain. Textbook example of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
-
Do you know of a page/link/doc that focuses on the technical differences in the different counterparty transaction types and matching them with their respective BTC tx type and their properties? Issue, transfer, dispense, Mpma, broadcast, op_return used or not etc. Or where in code can someone can deduce this info?
A lot of these common topics and questions stem from different tx types used everywhere. Different projects latch on to a specific tx type for a reason. Thanks. -
Yea I like this. I wouldn’t like it if someone forced me to hold X for you hindering me.
-
-
*Extremely few* bugs have been reported for any of the pre-release versions of v10.0.0... and we're planning on making the release soon. If you are running infrastructure and haven't fully tested everything yet (at least on a beta), please do so *ASAP*. Otherwise expect things to break horribly. There is nowhere near suffucient test coverage of the codebase yet to have any guarantees that there won't be accidental regressions.
Don't wait to catch up using start. Use kickstart (just published these instructions for doing kickstart with Docker https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/advanced/how-to/docker-kickstart/) or bootstrap (to test the API). -
None
-
I do not. I think if the size of the tx data fits Into the 80b op return that’s what it uses?
-
-
tokens created with op returns are 'prunable' if you want you be extreme .. but tokens created during a multisig output are not
-
Yea I was thinking about this.
What about the transfer of issuance of a stamp. -
-
-
-
Quick one: How would it be possible to transfer XCP on rarepepewallet.wtf with a ledger? Thanks :)
-
Ordinals are extra data attached to the end of the witness section. by assuming below a certain block the chain is valid, individual nodes can opt to prune old data.
All Bitcoin transactions consist of utxos. If a node chooses to go against consensus and removes valid utxos and one of them is spent it would lead to the node forking.
The Bitcoin blockchain doesn’t grow very fast at 4mb per 10 min. Both types of data will likely exist indefinitely. -
Thanks Derp. Love the education.
-
Due to the long communist dictatorship in Venezuela (26 years) caused by Hugo Chavez, Nicolas Maduro an Diosdado Cabello, the internal situation of the country has become complete chaos causing problems at all social levels, those old social classes here became a single social class In short, the poor social class has increased during these 26 years and this has caused one of the highest desertions of Venezuelans abroad. Is this correct?
The implementation of Version 10 in Counterparty is necessary before moving on to Version 11. This is because Version 10 addresses and resolves consensus issues, laying the foundation for the subsequent updates and improvements that will be introduced in Version 11. -

Adam in Official Counterparty Chat
ANN When Counterparty was originally created, we launched with a working codebase + protocol on day one. I never wrote a whitepaper, because I thought it wasn't necessary. But ten years later, I think it will potentially help a lot of people to have a formal description of the project and protocol to refer to. So I went ahead and wrote a whitepaper for Counterparty—https://krellenstein.com/adam/get/counterparty-whitepaper_2024-03-29.pdf
-
Can you buy xcp on dex? Or you have to use these dispensers?
-
Thank you yes I saw the white paper after I sent the message, exciting stuff for future developments!
-
its possible to buy xcp with btc using btc-pay. its sort of like a dex?
-
Where did you hear about it?
-
I saw someone chatting about it on Twitter underneath a post regarding runes. Apparently the protocols used on xcp are the same as runes. I thought it would be a good idea to check out this project and if there were any developments or preparations being made for runes, which seems kind of true, since ordinals are mentioned in the whitepaper.

https://krellenstein.com/adam/get/counterparty-whitepaper_2024-03-29.pdf
For the TLDR crowd, here are some goodies I found in the "Future Development" section.
1. Deeper Integration with BTC
".....Counterparty will be able to provide seamless integration with the Bitcoin token: Counterparty assets will be able to be attached directly to UTXOs, allowing for them to be held and transfered using standard Bitcoin wallet software."
" this upgrade will allow for trustless, atomic swaps between native Counterparty assets and BTC, such as Ordinals has. Indeed, it will be possible to trade Ordinals assets for Counterparty assets as well."
2. Implementation of a General-Purpose Virtual Machine
"The Counterparty smart contracts language will address these limitations of existing systems, so as to bring general-purpose computation to the Bitcoin blockchain, and without the use of a sidechain. Naturally, XCP will serve as the gas token for computation and storage using this virtual machine, and fees will be dynamic based on network load." -

Yes, having great development has shown to not be enough

i would love to see a full rebrand to being an NFT marketplace. i mean, are we still holding out for Apple to issue shares here?
-
hackers can steal ownership in a company?? no way
-
Yea Apple nft shares
-
Sorry we can’t submit our quarterly report until anonymous casts their votes on the acquisition 😂
-
if you need a central actor to blacklist shares you don’t need a blerkchain :)
-
Anyone know how to send XCP with rpw.wtf with a ledger?
-
You should be able to find your XCP balance as one more card in your collection
-
Also use rarepepewallet.wtf instead, is the more updated version
-
I always thought the easiest way to boost company valuations would be to create an NFT share and send it off to the world where everyone has equal access to purchase
Seems like it would do more good than bad -

Literally just takes setting up a dispenser. Will the degens come? That’s hard to say. Need PSBT-support for trading and marketplace integration

Don’t bite. Keep your head straight. Glowing clowns everywhere in that honeypot.
They get pissed when you point out correct logic or decode a drop correctly. There is an angle to be found.
G$ freaked out when I corrected someone else’s incorrect q decode in his ‘chat’. They thought q talking about a ‘stone’ was re: flat earth. I provide proof they were talking about Roger Stone and the knee jerk reaction deleting my comments and proof was very telling.
Also that community is of the pro-jdog xcp voting theory which is hilarious considering they tell people to ‘vote harder’. Rug pull might be the punny point.
Dyor on who you follow. There is definitely something to the xcp conspiracy community but not all is as it seems. -

Dispenser question if anyone knows answer: if I have a stamp for sale in an active dispenser, and I receive an airdrop to the dispenser for holding that stamp, when someone purchases the original listed stamp, will it drain everything in the dispenser, including the new AirDrop?
-
I would say yes. Makes sense. Asset will be sent to address where Dispenser is holding the asset in question
-
I guess delist would make sense
-
So I guess the same would be true if you held some bitcoin in there. Purchaser of the stamp gets your stamp and all the bitcoin in the dispenser as well?
-
Not the bitcoin, no. Just the CounterParty Asset
-
What I meant was, I set the dispenser up when only the one stamp that was for sale existed. After the fact, an airdrop was sent to the dispenser for holding that stamp, but did not exist in that dispenser at the time it was set up.I’m wondering if buying the dispenser would get the person both stamps or just the original one
-
Appreciate the thoughts btw 🙏
-
funds are safu
-
Only the asset you put in the dispenser will dispense
-
No. An address with multiple assets will not dispense all the assets. Each asset must have its own active dispenser for that to happen.
-
Here's the other thing: when an asset is in a dispenser I'm not sure its "held" by any address as its sort of in escrow state. Someone else can correct me.
-
afaik that's true, the dispenser's address don't hold them as theirs, they just work as an escrow intermediary.
that's how I understand it -
So in such a case, I think the seller could miss the airdrop. Not sure
-
You might be right, I’m not sure either
-
I under that escrow part. But don't Dispensers view under holder of asset also?
-
So if I snapshot holders of an asset. Dispenser address would view under that column also
-
Here's a random dispenser I pulled from xchain. Notice that the asset doesn't appear as being held by the address that originated the dispenser while the dispenser is active:
https://xchain.io/tx/f406796d8c3cfb2e01d9ec50999faead38f3d0956f1adeae8f1eb28f0aa6b406 -
Not sure how the API reports it tho
-
Ah I see. I was referencing xcp.ninja where the sale Dispenser views as part of the pie chart
-
So they have the UI set
-
Dispenser address is not holder. But an escrow
-
at least not in the normal sense.
for instance you can check with the API, like using xcp.dev, it doesn't appear that a dispenser actually holds the tokens as any regular holder -
I see that now. Just cross referencing other sites
-
Guess it's a matter of UI.
-
I’ve gotten previous airdrops dropped to my active dispenser

Congratulations Adam and team, well done, great effort!
Feels like a great time to run my first full node again since 2021, that was the last time I had one running.
My original node was on my 2016 PC, but I wasn't able to keep that running for too long at that time. -
Just the original item, at the BTC price it was set up at.
Sending additional assets to a counterparty address containing live dispensers has no impact on the dispensers.
Only BTC sent to an address triggers dispensers, if the BTC amount >= the dispenser(s) amount. -
ATTN Counterparty mainnet just came to a halt because of a critical bug in the address unpacking logic for dispensers, triggered by a particular transaction. This bug was present in both v10.0.0 and v9.61.2.
I've just released v9.61.3 and v10.0.1 hotfix versions. See https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/releases Everyone should upgrade to v10.0.1 of course, but if you don't have the time to do the DB rebuild right now, you can use v9.61.3 temporarily.
I've also updated api.counterparty.io to run on v10.0.1 to avoid having to redeploy on the old servers. -
Hmm
-
is there any reason for a casual user to run a counterparty node?
-
So, when these airdrops to occur, I need to send a little btc into it in order to send that airdrop out of the dispenser. If for example I sent .1 btc into it, but my item in OG dispenser was listed at .5, does the ultimate buyer still need to send .5, or does .4 (.5 minus the .1 I already sent) trigger it
-
-
-
Oof. Ok thanks. CP not ideal land for these sub100 airdrops these mfs are starting to drop. Appreciate all the help
-
One last question. On a site like, say, stampedninja, when I close a dispenser, the assert within goes back to my segwit wallet from which it came. If I had gotten an airdrop, then I close the dispenser, would both assets (the CP asset and the airdrop) automatically go back to my segwit?
-
Or, I imagine, the airdrop would go back to the sendooor.
-
Hmmm no I don't think that's the case
I can't test it today but if I'm not mistaken, a dispense is only triggered by a full payment -
-
None
-
Legend!
-
Massively successful trolling by @herpenstein but all good. Huge thanks to @teysol for identifying the issue and deploying a fix so rapidly (and at midnight!)
-
Nah, this was never the case
-
To be clear, my intention was to create a dispenser, not take down the network
-
Was it a blank address dispenser because of a bech32 address?
-
Oh of course, I was just joking. I'm aware of the alliance between Derp Nation and the Counterparty network and would never suspect foul play.
-
I assumed I didn’t have to pass open_address and it would open the dispenser on the calling address
-
Obviously didn’t go as planned
-
Thats one way to find out 😂
-
For issuance if your issuing to yourself you don’t need a destination, figured it would work out the same way
-
What asset were you trying to dispense? We need to add to the legacy of bad hair day and bad burger day.

Hi everybody, I've got a question for the community : why counterwallet aren't accessible anymore ?

And also : is there any other way to get to a dispenser that I created 9 months ago ?

Well, I just hovered above the thread and found that there was a bug, right ?
