There are many jurisdictions where XCP clearly not a security. We should go there?
-
In any case the persons/ group bringing XCP back to an exchange will be the community heros 😅
-
。
-
I would not exactly consider RBG a standard right now, at least I don't remember hearing anything much about this since that annoucement about 10 months ago. Maybe I live behind the moon or it is cause I stopped paying attention to Giacomo since he decided to shitpost about Counterparty a while back
-
How i can buy xcp for the troptions?
-
-
I want to transfer tropitions to xcp or btc. How i can make it?
-
Thanks

Bittrex's XCP address has 113,611 spends, and they charge 0.2 XCP for a withdrawal. They're paying $4+ BTC right now to send people their XCP.

552,228 XCP still on their wallet
-
-
Japan is going to rally around Counterparty
-
Where I can trade my XCP for BTC ?
-
-
I think connecting to the Japanese community would be great , feels like there is a big gap . An exchange that offers trades for Japanese and us would be awesome 👍or get the word out to start using the dex ofc 😎
-
-
"a standard"... that no one uses... sounds pretty "standard to me 😂
-
Not Ethereum please 😒
-
sorry but what exactly is the point of this convoluted scheme? We can already trade real BTC for XCP or any other counterparty asset
-
-
-
-
sorry but having deflation in XCP has not been a deciding factor in what price the token got traded for on exchanges up to now. Speculators are not really even aware of this deflation feature existing and as you can see from ethereum and other inflationary coins with basically unlimited supply like ripple, that doesnt matter to traders when they decide what price they want to pay for these tokens.
-
The values in the usage and the price will go up when it's easier to use

hello. why on conterwallet not i can for troptions buy xcp? orders on purchase no. where i still i can buy for troptions your tokens xcp?
-
Hey admin
-
Very good admin) answer my questions 😅👌
-
First question you should be asking yourself, why would anyone want to buy TROPTIONS?
-
Hi..where is xcp dex? In counterwallet?...im using freewallet and it seems the exchange is not ready..
-
-
-
I say stop burning xcp on asset creation for x number of years and send it to a foundation fund for development - we need development and it’s not fair this whole project rests on a few community members - everyone wants development and our developers can’t be expected to work for free
-
Are there any bounties out there that can be funded that would help the dex usability? What is the hold up on making it more user friendly?
-
I think you are starting to realize that xcp does not represent the organization success but how to use the system created. it's a service.
-
-
unlock the DEx on freewallet would give everyone access in that software
-
-
-
where is that link to the bounty?
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
then why add 100 if no one cares?

Thank you for the donation. Please post your address and i'll send you a FULLACCESS token
-
-
You didn't reply quick... so I just sent the token back to the address that sent me the XCP donation.
-
-
sent one to your requested address now as well

-
ok mission accomplished. now. reviewing your short time here you have proposed something that you clarified at the beginning lacked logic, then a few messages later insisted it had merit because you understood it, despite just claiming otherwise.
then you go on to tell an admin to go elsewhere because if his attitude all the while not keeping in mind poes law.
so we here we are, im attempting to have a conversation with you, but it seems to be difficult. in retrospect, the reason i engaged with you in communication today is that you may embody the misunderstanding that is affecting most of the people who invested in XCP. -
-
XCP does not represent collective ownership but potential for personal claims/use.
The function of this service token is to make it more difficult to spam the network. We dont have a problem with spam when hardly anyone uses it! lol ALSO, to think as a heavy user. I do not want to have to pay upwards of $50 worth of token to make one single asset as was the case with XCP peak. I would much rather the affordable quarter dollar per asset created. Why would i want to pay more as a user? THIS is what the token is for. Not to reward investors. Unfortunately, there is a strong #paradox to deal with here, and understanding it is the first step -

you are in three xcp rooms. good for you. no project rooms though, this conversation was not supposed to be personalized. i mean to work through issues that are affecting the platform. If you or anyone else wants to chat about things, let me know. lets do it, here or private message. until then ad hominem is getting tiresome.

Greetings everyone! I’m Alan and I’ve loved using counterparty for years, as well as trading it on exchanges and using the dex, and multiple wallets. The recent delisting caught me off guard on poloniex and I was curious why this occured. I wasn’t actively involved in development or even talking with other counterpart users or devs (in the past) to use the dex or exchanges I didn’t need to. Anyway, I was like ok, other than just checking the monthly updates let me make a post on bitcointalk as ...
-
-
It sounds to me like it might be time to call for another CP foundation election period where people can announce their candidacy... then a few weeks later hold a vote for a few weeks.... based on what i've read from that thread, general consensus seems to be that we need a group of people working together to move CP forward, hence another election seems logical.
-
-
👍
-
-
i think OP may have sold his bags and moved on within a week. Time to start a new thread, perhaps. that one seems dead.
-
-
The point of the post was to gauge interest in getting another CP Foundation election going and to get ideas from the community on how to best move CP forward... I think the post has served its purpose... seems pretty clear to me at least that we should have another CP election.... I'll try to get an announcement thrown together later this week or early next week.

Still being worked on.... should be out tomorrow I believe.

Yes I agree
-
XCP can be used to buy assets created with XCP too, so it’s not quite the paradox you’re stating. The system exists beyond USD.
XCP should never be pegged to a dollar amount, rather BTC. Assuming higher BTC-XCP volume on the DEx in the future, its price ratio could factor into the cost of asset creation instead of the flat 0.5 XCP.
For instance, the price could be set to 50,000 SATs (0.00050000 BTC), so times like now would cost somewhere around 5-10 XCP to create an asset, but during the pamp where the price hit 0.01 BTC/XCP, it would cost 0.05 XCP. -
ANY ASSET can be used to trade with. Advanced traders do not even use game currency or XCP and instead trade directly art for art. That is the metagame of collecting we are all playing on the protocol. if you stop to think about what i said you would see the duality of counter-interests
-
this conundrum is what is creating confusion. I am intending to battle the ignorance and not any certain individual. Anyone/Everyone is welcome to participate in the conversation on here or the messageboard... but i have reflected on it. I'm going to say it. Each on of the people above who said to "keep it positive" failed to weigh in recently with any substance. So, i welcome you to do so
-
to restate the #paradox in new words:
XCP is a tool to reduce spamming the network. Primarily it is used to create Named assets. As an artist, I want to get the quality canvas for as cheap as possible. It is counter-intuitive to think an artist desires to pay any more than needed for materials.
YET, many users seem to think that it represents a stake in the company or that it has some representation of the health of the network. Erroneously thinking the higher the trade value and the bigger the marketcap, the more successful the project is as a whole. Investors who are holding XCP for the sole purpose of selling it later at higher cost are not only using is wrong, but also are working against the purposeful users -
-
-
-
Ethereum and Ravencoin created new chains rather than pegging onto an existing one. XCP is married to BTC, and BTC is the gas of the network. I think XCP’s model is better in the long run, but it certainly has its issues such as low exchange volume due to the lack of inflation from mining or BTC’s miner fees driving costs up.
-
I’m proposing a floating burn rate for asset creation, which would ultimately fix the price more so than the flat 0.5 XCP amount.
-
-
im not sure why you are continuing to use shallow interpretations to converse with me. I do not appreciate that you assume that I have such a basic lack of understanding, repeatedly. Perhaps you are speaking to the audience? I do not care for this illogical reprocessing, I've seen it before. it has no merit
-
As you've said, the point of the XCP is to create assets, and you complained about the fluctating price. I'm shitballing an idea that could fix this problem. I stand by my idea.
-
IMO xcp’s value is entirely related to the value of creating named assets on bitcoin. The market is not seeing it at the moment. That’s good for asset creation as it’s cheaper.
-
I don’t know what it’s worth but it’s certainly worth ~$100 or so.
-
I agree, but I just think it's way undervalued right now.
-
As it is the price of xcp has no affect on xcp functionality.
-
-
-
There are certainly things that could help XCP price stability:
-
More direct fiat-to-xcp onramps
-
More exchanges listing XCP - whether it’s a fiat pair, btc pair or even a eth-xcp pair
-
Market makers
-
Once the public learns how to possess their BTC, everyone would have an easy on ramp.
-
I still believe that people (in general) don’t understand XCP
-
In some ways, I think XCP can make BTC more understandable.
-
And 80% of the people that do understand are hostile to XCP because it undercuts the necessity of whatever “project” they’re currently working on/trying to pump
-
People (in general) don't understand BTC.
-
Related to this, I wouldn’t pay a dime to anyone for listing XCP. The fact that we don’t truck with “pumpers” shows that our community values are one and the same with bitcoin values.
This should not be violated. You never recover your soul once first principles are violated. -
-
-
-
differentiating complaints from discussion is an integral skill for effective communication
-
-
BTC's transactional costs are preventing spam right now.
-
So far, almost 75,000 assets have been created, but I'm not sure how many named assets exactly. A little more than 5,000,000 can be created with the current supply (2.6m) and cost (0.5). Should that 5 million figure be reduced?
-
-
-
XCP is truly excercising BTC's store of value.
-

Would a broadcast allow for more space? I remember reading you needed to use an alternative hashing method due to the memo's size constraints. Otherwise, it seems like posting the hash in the memo is a better method. It's more up front.

Did you just use the word "truck" as a pejorative?
-
-
Description field will fit SHA1, but that was badly broken a couple weeks ago. It was weakly broken a couple years ago, meaning that you could not produce any collision you want at all. Now you can, and it's affordable to do so. So yes, you need more room for one of the SHA2 or SHA3 algos. Either the description field gets bigger, or broadcasting is a solution I don't know what's the good answer.
-
yeah we use md5 even though it's kinda broken
-
MD5 is way beyod broken. It's completely rekt.
-
Use SHA1 at least.
-
-
MD5 was rekt in the 1990s.
-
I would actually pay to see that fake
-
make description great again
-

-
Not meant to be pejorative
-
Oh, well... I've got no truck with you then
-

-
It's there, but you've lost control of it. Coinbase has the private key, so I think you're screwed.
-
Unless Coinbase has changed a lot since I looked. Any current CB users out there?
-
-
And they can't send them from there to a Counterpary-aware wallet AFAIK.
-
Yes, technically Counterparty assets can live at any Bitcoin address... but as mightbemike has indicated, if you send your Counterparty assets to an address you don't hold the private key to, then the assets are not really your assets.
-
When Litecoin port? ;)

You gifted it to coinbase. It's not your address. They only accepted to credit BTC sent to that address.

callback feature only worked globally... to call back ALL tokens, not just selectively calling back tokens from specific addresses
-
CIP - Callback (buy back) for reusable assets
This is an updated re-post of my comment in the topic referenced below. Introduction It appears some assets (use cases) would benefit from the ability to be called back. Now we have subassets so on the one hand you can create disposable subassets, but in some cases it’d be better to have an asset (or subasset) that does what the name says it does, rather than have to look it up in a database or Web site. Use Case 1: Reusable Tokens Certain assets - if you want to reuse them - should be callabl...
-
Yea, I understand that, and while I’m sure it would be expensive to recall globally, it does allow for security providers to reassign securities to proper legal holders and give a huge reason not to hold that coin if your not legally allowed. You would lose all value instantly if recalled and redistributed.
-
My concerns are listed in the forum thread linked above.
-
If a hacker calls back all assets, the security provider could just use history prior to redistribute. I like the point in regards of the scammer singling one person out. I think that pushes me to global only. In regards to value being returned if called back, I think that would have to be left up to the courts, they would have a record of the call back and non redistribution

Hi.
Does Counterparty support Bitcoin Core v0.18.0?
I know Counterpary supports until v0.16.3.
Counterparty-lib 9.56.0 released!
December 28, 2018
This release includes SegWit support on testnet (effective immediately) and on mainnet (effective from an activation block). This release also includes an update to use the latest version of Bitcoin Core 0.16.3, replaces the addrindex patch dependency with indexd, and includes additional changes and improvements listed in CIP19.

CP does not officially support core 0.18.0 yet.... I have been running 0.17.1 without any issues for the past month or so... but I believe that 0.18.0 has some breaking changes which John is looking into before we can officially support 0.18.0

Hello guys, I want to know if I'm alone to have my xcp on poloniex and I just discovered that they charged 16xcp as exit fees... Anyone have know if it's a bugs or the insane but real fees?
-
I will lost more than 55% of the total of my holding...
-
-
In comparison of the other fees... I don't understand
-
-
...
-
how can be sold xcp at this moment? zaif doesn't accept new registration and on dex i don't see xcp-btc orders
-
-
-
ok thanks
-
I pointed out earlier that Bittrex is paying around $8 in BTC transaction fees to send people their XCP while only retaining 0.2 XCP. It seems like poloniex is factoring in that cost, using XCP’s last US exchange price of around $0.50. It does seem silly that they would retain so much XCP after delisting it though.
-
Yep... A shame
-
Which Dex can trade xcp??

Tux exchange and counterwallet. Io are both options

Both counterwallet and coindaddy are down again

Wrap a token around an address and have the protocol do X with the btc when it receives x external token. So x can only happen when it receives x token - the token is a public private key and the code of x token address is transparent. So whoever operates x token has the ability to be an Oracle, but doesn’t have the ability to steal funds

saw in freewallet some announcement that looks like a scam. redirects to a fake counterwallet page requesting people to enter their passphrase to claim their reward. how can such stuff be cleaned up?
-
?
-
yes?
-
I’m guessing this is in relation to counter event. That is totally scammy. They spent the money to create the asset and send it to active addresses it seems. I imagine this isn’t terribly profitable if at all. That should help clean it up. Otherwise, I’m not sure what can be done.
-
As the developer of freewallet.io, I can assure you that the wallet does not support "announcements" nor does it redirect to any fake counterwallet page..... Perhaps your thinking of something else other than freewallet.io
-
We have seen scams like this in the past where a gift/reward is promised and users are taken to a fake counterwallet login page in an attempt to steal peoples 12-word passphrase, but none of it is through freewallet.io.
- 09 June 2019 (58 messages)
-
sorry looks like my message just got blocked because I put information in about the scam... let me try again.
-
This is definitely in freewallet and it is counter event. It is displayed as a new asset in my portfolio with a balance and even shows a USD value.
-
If the asset is clicked, it states in the "Additional Information" field the website that needs to be visited to claim a bonus. The website is a redirect to a scam counterwallet page.
-
so it may not "support announcements", but someone is certainly using freewallet as a way to promote, announce, and redirect users to their phishing site.
-
-
-
The scammers are using counterparty, freewallet is just your portal to see what your address holds
-
Anyone is able to send anyone anything on the network, so there’s nothing freewallet or any other service can do to prevent that.
-
I get that.
-
-
Success Please Wait Upto 24 Hours For Validaton Wallet.
Note:
* For security systems without cheating.
* Only for accounts that already have transactions.
* If you want to claim bonus +1,000 XCP you must have a minimum balance 1,000 XCP.
* If you want to claim bonus +0.63 BTC you must have a minimum balance 0.63 BTC.
* If not eligible, bonus cannot be found. -
sure they can. freewallet cannot add any disclaimers in the app?
-
-
It’s an open-source Peer 2 Peer system, that’s the disclaimer
-
-
I think that's fine if the goal is to be a nice blockchain.
-
*niche
-
i'm talking about user adoption, and using tools like freewallet to facilitate that.
-
-
-
agreed, but all participants in the network (projects, providers, etc.) have the ability to do their part to minimize confusion, thwart scams, etc.
-
or valiant users never arrive because of the scams
-
-
uh huh
-
-
-
yes, let's get to the point since you like to throw out assumptions.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
I come to offer information in case someone (specifically j-dog, since it's his app), wants to consider doing something with the info. I really could care less what you or others think.
-
-
-
you seem to be doing all the talking my friend. have a great day.
-
I agree. I believe USD values should be removed from xchain and wallets
-
👂
-
in the next explorer, this is a great idea
-
People make a trade with themselves on the dex and suddenly they have $669,420,666
-
-
-
Market Cap should show 1,000,000,000 XCP rather than the dollar amount. It seems like troptions has been scamming with this too.
-
So, it is an asset with a description that links to a website.....All that freewallet.io is doing is showing you the asset description.
-
Add a disclaimer for what? That someone might put in a website description that links to a website which might be used to scam people? Again, all the wallet is doing is showing the asset description.... and actually, the wallet doesn't do anything but show you some text... no way to click a link and visit the url, you have to manually type it in... this is not an issue in freewallet.io
-
-
That is what the asset looks like in freewallet... no link to the scam url... and if you click "more info" button, then you are taken to the blockchain explorer page for the asset... NOT to the scam website
-
TL;DR... this is not an issue with freewalet or something that needs to be addressed in freewallet... I built and included the "reputation system" into the wallet for this exact reason... if you think the asset/token is a scam, then click the "Feedback" button and leave a negative rating.
-
-
-
-
uh troll baiting and balling? I have better things to do with my life than sit on a telegram chat all day.
-
I offered some constructive feedback. To say "this is not an issue" doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.
-
If you want to take the feedback, fine. If you're not interested, that's fine too.
-
freewallet is certainly a fine tool. never said it wasn't. is it good for what it does? yep. are there opportunities for UI/UX improvements? yep.
-
anyway, on with the rest of my day. good day to you all.

[ANN] Start of the Counterparty Foundation 2019 Election - Nomination Period (Jun 10th - July 1st)
Announcing the Start of the Counterparty Foundation 2019 Election - Nomination Period (June 10th - July 1st) The Counterparty Foundation is a group dedicated to advancing the Counterparty protocol and its products, educating the community on the Counterparty technology, driving global Counterparty awareness, and ensuring Counterparty remains a successful and growing platform. The Foundation is governed by five Community Directors. Today, we’re happy to announce the start of the Counterparty ...
-
🎉
-
In case I would like to nominate myself, the process is straightforward. However, in case that I would like to nominate another candidate how exactly the process works? Can I nominate another candidate by using my wallet (as a proof of holding more than 50XCP)? Should the candidate that I nominate hold also more than 50XCP? Should the candidate that I nominate be aware OR/AND agree that I propose him/her as a candidate? For example, can I just propose JDog or John as a candidate?
-
You could agree with the candidate
-
But i wouldn't like being in the foundation again
-
I can be around as counselor
-
And general code monkey
-
Anyone can nominate a candidate. The candidate should be notified that they have been nominated. The candidate can then accept or reject the nomination. If accepting the nomination, they would then need to post some basic info on themselves, including the proof of owning at least 50 XCP.
-
👍
-
FYI, I can not serve on the foundation, as I am the CIP Custodian (holder of the general/dev funds), and it would be a conflict of interest for me to hold the funds, as well as have a vote on how the funds are spent.
-
and from last time, as dev and foundation member, i had to refrain from a lot of votes due to the conflict of interests
-
Iam so happy!
-
All due respect, shouldn't a foundation control the funds? Creating another powerless foundation is surely going to fail again, no?
-
The foundation does control the funds. The funds are not spent without the foundation saying so first. Also, the foundation is free to elect another CIP custodian if they see fit. I was elected by the last foundation as the CIP Custodian per the CIP bounties guidelines laid out in https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/cips/blob/master/cip-0008.mdCounterpartyXCP/cips
Counterparty Improvement Proposals. Contribute to CounterpartyXCP/cips development by creating an account on GitHub.
-
The funds, and all counterparty properties (counterparty.io, counterwallet.io, counterpartytalk.org) are under the control of the CP foundation... I am simply the one who was handed control of the CP properties by the foundation and Robby when he left.... If the foundation wants to change something, they have all the power to do so.

Shouldn't you be on the foundation then? There seems to be a disconnect between the actual levers of power and the foundation. This was an issue last time, no?

Also... FYI... The foundation didnt fail because it was powerless... it failed because certain community members took to attacking the volunteer foundation and developer and the remaining foundation members decided it was no longer worth being attacked, so they closed up the foundation and assigned all the remaining funds to be used for CIP bounties
-
wasn't an issue, can confirm
-
-
everything the foundation said, the custodian (jdog) in this case was paid
-
So the foundation has no actual control over the official websites or the development funds. How can this NOT lead to problems?
-
As I have said previously, the properties are owned by the CP foundation, I am just the one who has been running the sites (on my own dime, to the cost of about $250-500/mo).... If the CP foundation wants to appoint someone else to run the sites, I am happy to hand over all properties
-
it has control over those
-
they just appoint someone to control them
-
last foundation appointed jdog
-
Yep. If the foundation wants to appoint someone else as CIP custodian, and take control of the website properties and run them on their own, I will happily hand over control...... Up until now no one else has wanted to take on the responsability so I have been stuck with it... This is not a situation of me trying to maintain control over anything... Everything is owned by the community, represented by the CP foundation, and I am happy to hand over control of whatever they want.
-
with a power vacuum that came from the whole foundation resigning, the only person that was left with some decision power was jdog and the only one with some decision making over the code was me
-
Not sure why it would be an issue at this point as I have done nothing but help support CP and pay out funds to developers per the previous foundations request... but again... if the foundation wants to change things, they can.

I thought we just had an election a month or so back?
-
No, we did not, or we would not be having an election now.
-
Bitcorn Foundation held elections then
-
This is so embarrassing. I was 100% sure I got elected CEO of Counterparty
-
-
How much does a XCP foundation person get paid?
-
It is an unpaid position. Funds are for dev, marketing, and server hosting only
-
Can the foundation vote to change that?
-
Sure, once a foundation is elected, they can vote to change the bylaws
-
How much money is in the fund?
-
Less than 2 btc... will dig up exact amount tomorrow
-

I have a counterparty base chat on here for our token(s) projects

Or we have Dans chat

No, when the foundation went away so did the general donation address. Any remaining funds were to be spent on funding CIPs. Once the foundation starts back up again, they can vote to setup another general donation address again and collect donations into a general fund, as well as collect donations to specific CIPs. All the server operating costs for the past year have been covered by me personally to the tune of $250-$500/mo.... I suspect once the foundation gets booted back up, one of the first topics should be how to cover its operating costs, as I can no longer continue to bear this cost myself.

I think what @ShawnLeary is looking for is to surrender ownership of this group? Please note that if the owner of a group leaves that group or is banned somehow from Telegram, noone else will be able to do anything that only the owner/creator can do. And I think that also includes adding or deleting admins

Group creator transferring ownership
Hi. So I am an administrator for a very large supergroup. The current owner wants to hand it over to me. Is it possible for the current creator of...

I just verified, I am able to add admins... I made Bench an admin and then removed his admin powers.
-
there are admins but as creator of channel not sure i can leave, but don’t want you to lose all the active peeps. many of those in this chat are from Twitter promotions that I did to get people in here a couple years back. not sure how many are real or still active
-
Just stick around shawn... lurk 🙂
-
-
-
-
i can’t help but read the chats, part of my problem
-
-
-
-
-
yea also having my real name in a lot of chats probably isn’t smart
-
-
-
This what one are concerns is thank you for this information... Got to do some community brainstorming as we go
-
-
I dont mind hosting a new official chat for us if everyone is okay with it
-
I would prefer we keep this chat, we already have the community split between 2 "Counterparty" chats... no need to confuse things even further... plus this one is linked from the counterparty site/reddit/etc.
-
Ohhhhhh definitely get you Jay
-
-
-
don't sweat it.. you had a glorious run as admin with no complaints from anyone 😛
-
Best admin ever!
