Slightly naive question, but why is it important to get xcp listed on exchange if any holder can just open a dispenser and sell? Is it because exchange transactions are offchain thereby making buying/selling xcp cheaper? -

FYI... a new CIP has been put forth... cip23 which will fix some dividends code and stop writing 0-quantity records (will help cut down on database bloat/improve speed, etc)

CIP23 - Fixed non-divisible dividends and 0 quantity credits
This new proposal addresses the current bug in dividend creation where paying a non-divisible asset over a divisible asset fails. Also, removes the generation of 0 quantity credits on dividend payments, causing unnecessary strain over counterparty servers. You could just ignore the last 3 decimals. You don't HAVE to use them. Whatever website you're building to show the membership info can just truncate it when displaying.

Counterpartytalk.org is where community discussion on elections in the past has happened... I encourage you to create a post there if you have questions for the CP foundation about elections and such. I called for the last elections because no foundation existed at the time. Now that a foundation exists which was elected by the community to represent them, I think the proper thing to do is to address your concerns to the current CP foundation. I feel it is out of place for me, an individual, to call for a CP foundation election, as the circumstances in the past were different than now.

Also, if the past few years have taught me anything, we can't rely on other people to do the heavy lifting and hard work and sit back and expect things to be easy.... so, people might might not be happy with how the foundation is doing things, but blaming them for lack of X is the easy way out..... Nothing is preventing individuals from coming up with initiatives on their own to help move CP forward.... just gotta be careful that your only speaking for yourself and not for the community :)

Point and case... people been complaining for years about not having exchange listings, but no one was actually applying.... now that I am applying at places, poof, exchange listings are materializing..... anyway.. point is, nothing prevents you from helping move CP forward on your own how you best see fit indepenent of what anyone else is doing...... organizing the community is great, but one motivated individual can accomplish a lot ๐

Getting a monthly newsletter going again, and hosting monthly developer meetups/chats are definitely things I think that would help CP with developer engagement..... Even one a month newsletter communicates we are still alive, gives a chance to update on progress, talk about new projects in the space, etc...... hosting developer meetings is always good for brainstorming ideas and such

Correct. The position existed for about 6 months and the foundation paid... then I paid for the services for another 6 months or so on my own... then had to stop covering that cost.... If someone in the community wants to pony up the $9000 to fund the position for a year... i'd be happy to hold the funds and pay them out each month after the work has been completed... kinda similar to what I do with funds in the CIP process.

Yea, about 400k held by polo and bit... but my point has been, they are not entitled to sell those coins, but as Jdog has mentioned, some of those coins may be their personal stash.
However, if they are their customers coins they confiscated, they are not legally allowed to sell those coins for themselves. -

they were an exchange, they allowed customers to deposit funds, they earned trading fees, they stopped supporting the Counterparty (XCP) token and allowed customers to withdraw for a period before the exchange closed the pair entirely..... no one stole anything... no one is going to get funds taken back by government, etc.... At this point the funds are in Bittrex and Polo cold wallets and the funds will stay there until they decide to list again..... any time spent on figuring out who owns those funds and talking about how to get them back is time wasted in my mind... Once XCP gets some decent volume again, those exchanges will re-list Counterparty... as it is in their best interest.. they are sitting on a large supply of coins.

If you die and you have no blood relatives, the broker doesnโt get to keep your shares. The state gets it. The exchange rightfully may own some of that XCP, but they canโt legally decommission an asset and then claim they own it years later if it was their customers XCP. Granted, they are outside of us jurisdiction so it will be interesting to see what happens eventually.

That is all well and good... but does not take into account the delisting wording nor the exchanges policies on delisting.... when you sign up for an exchange you agree to their policies and terms, one of those terms might be that after they delist you have X days to withdraw before the funds default to being owned by the exchange.... anyway... again, my point is, all this is wasted energy..... XCP live in the exchange wallets and will live there until the exchanges list the asset again.

Counterparty has been, and always will be on the strongest blockchain Bitcoin (BTC). So there has never been any official plan to move to another blockchain. A few years ago there was a guy who tried to fork Counterparty codebase to BCH but wasnt technical enough to make it happen.... the remnants of his project can be seen at https://counterparty.cash/Counterpart Cash Association (CCA)
