Very cool. The thing I’ve been thinking about is how to prevent counterfeits. How to be able to identify what pieces of physical art NFTs truly belong to the NFT.

You almost have to mark each piece uniquely after the fact and not tell anyone what and where the identifying markings are. Unless anyone has a better idea.

Only accept physical NFT when accompanied by NFT token.... like proof of ownership.... IMO the value is in owning the NFT not the art or the physical item.

BTC tx costs are the exact same... doesn't cost more than any other CP tx... however, there is a small anti-spam XCP fee for every dividend paid out.... here you can see a dividend paid out to over 1000 people... cost 0.20 XCP... http://xchain.io/tx/1544250

yes.. just a normal bitcoin small BTC transaction to say "trigger a dividend"... and a small anti-spam XCP fee on the transaction..... not like MPMA where we have to store a bunch of info in the transaction... all the holders are already in the CP database, so no large tx 🙂

also... FYI... XCP is a utility coin primarily used as an anti-spam mechanism... anti-spam fee of 0.5 XCP on issuances... 0.25 on subassets... some on sweeps.. some on dividends, etc.... Anywhere that CP has the potential to inject a large amount of records/data into the CP database, we require an anti-spam fee.

I don’t think the burning of XCP for anti spam purposes was to make it more scarce. I think the founders were thinking the demand for XCP was going to come from the DEX as the reserve currency of CP.

Looks decent. One piece of feedback I have is that you need to provide links to make it easy for peopel to use freeport.io... your article mentions freeport, but calls it "FreeportApp" and doesn't give a link to download it

Tokens stay in your wallet balance until the transaction is confirmed... they don't ever leave your wallet until the transaction is mined, so if you have 100 XCP in your wallet and you send 1 XCP to someone..... you still have 100 XCP in your wallet until the transaction confirms, after the transaction confirms, you will have 99 XCP.

Yeah, I've noticed that happens sometimes too.... you can usually get the balances to correct by clicking the refresh button, or switching to another view like exchange, then switching back to balances 🙂

What's up with all of the unconfirmed transactions suddenly disappearing?

It's happened to me a few times now. A few times the transactions reappear a week or so later, but there's no telling.

nodes drop tx after a while, but they get rebroadcasted

xchain.io only shows the transactions that the local bitcoin node is aware of.... whenever I restart the bitcoin/counterparty node, it clears out the mempool transactions.. .and then as the node becomes aware of the transactions as they are rebroadcast, they show back up on xchain.io in pending

that also explains why the "Time" of the pending transaction on xchain is not accurate..... it shows the time that the local node became aware of the transaction.... so, you may have broadcast the transaction a week ago...but they can show up as if they were just broadcast a few minutes ago.

So, the transactions showed up on blockchair, where they show the queue position in the mempool, but they have since disappeared from there too. I guess blockchair was picking that up from your node?

All nodes are entirely indepenentent and relay/rebroadcast transactions to all other connected nodes.... me restarting one node doesn't effect anything in another node's mempool

Blockstream usually doesn't show pending transactions whereas I've been able to find them on blockstream and create a notification tab

Yeah... also has to do with tx fee paid.... each node can customize their settings for minimum tx fee.... so they ignore low fee transactions, but those transactions show up if they get mined... that is why you will not see transactions on blockstream.info sometimes when they show on xchain.io.... too low of a fee paid for them to show... or not relayed to their node yet....

I have seen their block explorer do some weird stuff... like not show a tx... then I reload the page and the tx is suddenly found... check it 20 minutes later, back to not found.... again, prolly has to do with settings on what they will relay through their node and minimum tx fee
