yeah you own the token that happens to link to data external to it or even embed it, still just a link. others can link too.
-
I would like to make sure that my NFT game is always accessible, no matter if the webspace where its data resides is online or offline. Because it should be always online.
-
I couldnt delete (burn) the data?
-
data meaning a series of 1's and 0's, bytedata, which can be anything. data, like any number, has no owners
-
For that to be the case the game needs to be on chain and the owner needs to be running a fullnode. Otherwise they’re still going to need to be reliant on a web server being up
-
Not sure but I think Arweave is a data storage chain that tries to fix this.
-
arweave is just a premined scam that's also permissioned since just pow is permissionless. sia is the only decentralized type of those. but can also just put data directly on blockhcain if you really want to pay that much
-
Every bit of online data has to sit on a computer otherwise you’re just self-hosting which you could do anyways
-
Not if my data is hosted decentralized on many backups.
-
at 1 sat/vbyte storing 1 MB would cost you about 1 million satoshi + overhead costs probably doubling it of tx stuff
-
So you have your token with hash and a copy of your game stored locally. Does this not solve the issue of uptime?
-
I know filecoine works like a subscription model for your data to remain onlie, right? Isnt there some competitor in the filestorage blockchain space that offers a one time payment solution to host my data indefinitely, like putting data on Bitcoin?
-
No, because my local server could go down. There is no guarantee of uptime.
-
The reason bitcoin storage is so expensive is because of the cost of redundant, indefinite storage. There’s no free lunch where you get to store something forever at a one time low fee
-
this code right here fetches bitcoin white paper from utxos on bitcoin blockchain using blockstream api anyone can run with their full node. kind of nice example since there's a crazy man suing anyone hosting bitcoin white paper https://jsfiddle.net/yjdzg37s/
-
Also Bitcoin is not engineered to store lots of data. I would assume filestorage blockchains are.
-
What is the incentive to keep running a file storage blockchain a decade from now? Are you sure it will still be around?
-
Every blockchain has the same externality costs. Someone has to continually be incentivized to keep it going.
-
filestorage blockchains are often just centralized permissioned services like any other, technical literacy on this subject is almost non existent now anyway. i think these guys were trying to make it "forever" by taking out % of payment batch continously so a little bit remains for new hosts, just less and less. but tbh it would be easy to lose data if coins worthless and nobody wants to host far in payment curve
-
I think blockchains are very resilient with longevity if they provide an economic incentive to run them. So probably yes, they will be around.
-
Which one? There’s more than one. Can you predict the winner a decade from now?
-
If the economic incentive is solid I wpuld feel confident enough.
-
& most are centralized and do hard forks, lost count of the chain swaps windows i missed that made coins from previous chain worth 0. that's literally a whole different chain where old data is easily not necessary anymore
-
And who says I can only put my NFT on a single blockchain btw?
-
But that’s an “if”. It speaks to the fact that indefinite file storage isn’t a given. It’s a guess.
-
Ok, so the perfect solution has not been found yet. The question remains what would be the best option left today.
-
Redundancy
-
probably bitcoin just like bitcoin whitepaper was done, also most expensive
-
Put it up on IPFS and AWS
-
I agree with the centralization part. It has to be decentralized or it may just go down with the company.
-
Is there a way to upload it to different blockchains but "lock" the hashes that point to them to a provable single NFT?
-
There’s also no legal precedent that a hash is legal ownership of anything. NFTs are about social consensus of ownership.
-
I guess data could include a link to nft, and nft would point back to data. link to nft would have to be not based on a hash but like token name bc figuring out a hash of a link to a hash of the first hash would be hard lol
-
So since anybody can point to the data and make an unlimited number of copies of both, the only thing rhe NFT really proves is that the owner of it payed some huge amount of money for it at some point?
-
You own the token. The token is the art. The image is just the visual representation of the token. That’s the way to look at it.
-
heres another - https://xchain.io/asset/TESTJSON
-
The art is the art. The token is a promise the seller gave to me that the token has some kind of relation and sense of ownership of that art.
-
Where did they do that? I think you’re inferring that. I’ve never seen that disclaimer.
-
But as you said it doesnt. Unless of course among people that agree it does. Otherwise I would be able to destroy or edit the data/art I have the token of.
-
I’m actually surprised no one has brought up this point about the Matt Furie Pepe. The “art” was literally just changed after 5 years. But the community accepted the change. Because it’s not about a hash at all. It’s about social consensus
-
So you as the token holder (not the server owner in this case) CAN actually change the art?
(never heard of the Matt Furie Pepe though) -
-
sure you can say it looks different if you want
-
you don't have the ability to "change" anything related to the token on-chain though
-
only the issuer can
-
Did the issuer change the Matt Furie Pepe or the owner of the NFT?
-
the issuance was transferred to matt
-
issuance ownership
-
And Matt changed the data/art onchain?
-
nope
-
theres no art onchain
-
mike and i changed an image on a website
-
there's some art on chain haha
-
lol awesome
-
-
wow, there's like entire chats there https://bitcoinstrings.com/all
-
Greetings admins, I represent IndoEx exchange, could I speak someone who is responsible for listing/IEO of This project ?

Hello everyone 🚀💯

But that’s what I meant, Mike!

In a dispenser like this one, is it possible to see which address the 8.72072184 XCP was sent from? https://xchain.io/tx/76ef8a02b51a694c6902d80336d829ded4e32843d60706bc0be700865d5cd32f
-
Interested!
-
Thanks! Will do a test run next month and announce it here

Check your balances on xchain.io - are they correct?
-
Hi there I have a business proposal its about doing an AMA & posting ads on different social media with our commun . Our community including investors, traders, ambassador etc. Who should I contact?
-
-
Hello!
I'm assistant to the Bibox exchange Business Development Dep.
Would you please help me address someone with a potential listing offer? -
-
-
Quickest solution (if you have btc): by sending btc to xcp dispensers
-
Using freewallet-desktop (freewallet.io)
-
See list of dispensers here: https://xchain.io/asset/XCP
-
-
-
like the other one c0unterparty probably
-

Hello admin good day 😊 Whome can I contact for Cointiger exchange listing cooperation

@jdogresorg

OK Thanks
-
Frenz, thoughts on unlockable content on Counterparty? Doable?
-
of course, it just server checking blockchain for ownership, always been
-
Right ok. Just have to write it up using API, correct?
-
your own api or someone elses i guess if don't want to run your own node.
-
Own Counterparty node, correct?
-
probably easiest yeah
-
Cool. Will dig in.
-
Is it possible to use the Dividends feature on counterparty to collect and share royalties with token holders? Like say if someone creates a collection with 100 cards. And those cards are resold. Can the original creator get a 10% cut (percentage can be preselected) of each resale as a royalty? Or say the creator wants to keep 5% and share the other 5% with holders?
-
That is now how the dividends function works.... it is meant for the asset owner to be able to drop dividends to the holders of their asset/token/card.... it is not a way to collect funds, but rather a way to distribute funds to existing asset/token/card holers
-
Yeah thats what i thought. Would be cool if the functionality i suggested above was available.
-
Recurring royalties will play a key part in which platform a creator chooses to work with.
-
I mean why would anyone choose a one-off sale to being able to milk your creations in perpetuity via royalties from resales?
-
It works in the opposite way too, why would I buy something that I know an artist would milk me afterwards?
-
There is a fake J-Dog sending dms again. Beware.
-
WTF. Lol

@jdogresorg can you explain why XCP can not send multiple UTXO's? Is it the address format? Meaning if I'm buying something for .02 and I have .022 in my wallet it won't send and it gives an error.
-
or maybe point me in the direction of an explainer video or article
-
-
on free wallet? it is not xcp. it has a minimum amount of btc it will send, which seems to be close to 5 bucks.
-
Thanks @juangalt so it may be a FreeWallet issue, not CounterParty
-
When an asset on counterparty is "locked" does that mean supply is fixed or something else? 😃
-
-
Cool thanks!
-
That’s a utxo selection issue with the wallet
-
Not a counterparty thing
-
in my view and i guess legally too possession of keys has nothing to do with ownership
check out this, both the json, image and large image are on siasky.net
so it is all immutable, unremovable (except that you "change description" via a blockchain tx using dogeparty/dogewallet to point elsewhere but the trace will be present)
same can be done on XCP
https://dogeparty.xchain.io/asset/WOOO.DOGELAND
https://siasky.net/AAAsyPqDULtyfxdJFTA_GPxmKAMhcj8lyS_N3k-mgg0icg/DOGELAND.json -
Thank you for the information. Hopefully it's on the "to-do" list
-
We can do this with the non-turing complete virtual machine
-
It can use multiple ur is but then the thx is larger in size requiring more btc fees
-
So if I pump up the fee it should go through?
-
-
Sounds good! Could offer a decentralized version of what OpenSea already offers for royalty payments. Probably about the only thing that could break that monopoly. When they kyc up, users will look for decentralized, privacy preserving options, plus Bitcoin network has the best security. 🙏
-
I'm working on a new counterparty project and would like to know how to send xcp from a batch file (windows or unix) with no manual intervention - assuming no local bitcoin node running... any examples?
-
-
-
you would need to 1.) generate transactions (MPMA is probably best since it allows you to send many sends in a single transaction)... and 2.) sign the transaction using your bitcoin address private key... and 3.) broadcast the transaction...... I am not a big windows guy (linux/mac user here).... but your best bet is probably to write something in javascript which will handle making the API calls to api.counterparty.io to generate the transaction, then sign the transaction using javascript, then broadcast the transaction
-
Thanks for the pointers, I will look into that as soon as I can
-
whats the point in getting these names ?
-
you would have to ask the person who registered them... they just used my asset registration service... they either have plans to use the assets, or they are squatting on them for possible future sales
-
@jdogresorg, ser. Will/can asset name length be longer? Why max 14?
-
I think pepecash or even xcp could do this: https://twitter.com/morningbrew/status/1453445533754855433?s=21Morning Brew ☕️
This wallet bought roughly $8,000 of $SHIB last August. It's now worth $5.7 billion. From $8,000 to $5.7 billion in roughly 400 days. We may actually be looking at the greatest individual trade of all time.
-
The asset name length was the limitation imposed by the founders, and it seems to be working fine 🙂
-
K. Thanks.

you can time lock addresses on ethereum, so why not use emblem to contain the XCP asset and send that to the address
-
Cuz i rather use Bitcoin
-
thats fine too - its just options
-
-
actually if you send xcp token to a bitcoin smart contract address (p2sh or p2wsh) that uses timelock script for unlocking, wouldn't that work too? would have to use absolute block height instead of relative so older one can't be used.
-
just have to know the script used to put unlocking script into script sig
-
Hmm I'm not sure how it works exactly. Specially since XCP assets live in op return. Afaik. You think it can be done?
-
-
-
-
Depends if you want a named asset or not. You can easily mint unnamed assets with Freeport.io I believe. If you want an asset with a name then you need 0.5 XCP maybe $10 worth which should be in the same wallet as the asset you want to issue. You also need a little bitcoin for miners fee which is super low, maybe 1000 Satoshis right now {60 cents} . You can issue your token (asset) in freewallet.io by choosing Create a token from the Token Actions drop down. Chose a name and hit create token and you're done.

Thank you kind ser

think its cool, at least have fun with the people who are still alive, at some point we are all dead, celebrate and have fun is the minimum positive one can do and not only to cry
-
-
I have officially given notice at my job and begun the process of unwinding myself from the company... I plan to be able to focus on Counterparty Full time starting Jan 1, 2022 (already focused on counterparty a bunch now, just not 100% of the time until Jan 1st)
-
-
😂
-
I'd give you a gif but I cant!

J-Dog finally free to chase and catch the dream! Happy for you c:

Yes... my boss said he knew it was coming eventually, and that he supported my decision to follow my passion, and that I would be difficult to replace... went about as well as one could hope 🙂

uhh wtf. you can nft a twitch channel?
-
like a live one
-
yeah
-
but that doesn't compute
-
heres a live stream now - https://xchain.io/asset/DANCETV
-
shouldnt an nft like be something that is there forever
-
the NFT exists forever - but its an embeded link
-
yeah i guess i mean from the perspective of what it contains.
-
i get that its just an embedded link, just this is wild
-
-
Cant this also be malicious somehow?
-
like to running a keylogger or whatever, i have no idea how this could work...
-
yeah if this can run any embedded code, then that can definitely get malicious
-
you could create an embedded link that is a fake bank login page or whatever
-
lots of possibilities - just because well make the tools doesnt mean we are responsible for their use
-
you should also be able to create an infinitely self-referential asset
-
a GODELNFT
-
where the embedded link is just a linkback to the original page itself
-
wait until one Counterparty NFT owns itself
-
I did it on Ethereum, soon be possible on XCP
-
-
there's already nft that owns every meme https://xchain.io/asset/EVERYMEME
-
can just watch this one for hours https://xchain.io/asset/ISSHDEVNFT
-
This is cool. What is the process of actually cracking the vault open?
-
its just the first vault on XCP at the moment, showing that it is coming to Counterparty
-
the full release will be later
-
I mean… on eth I need metamask. How would I do it here?
-
cant test vaults without someone spotting it on the main xchain.io page anyways lol
-
believe you would need bitcoin
-
Right but through what tool?
-
the wallet I dont know
-
at this time
-
ask Shannon direct
-
he'll be at NFT.NYC if your there
-
anyone try reverse-submarine atomic swap between LN payment and counterparty nft sent to a smart contract address on bitcoin like p2wsh just like you'd use in reverse-submarine atomic swap?

Does someone here have experience in trading XCP-BTC on dex-trade? There is something I don't understand with the order book there. I see many trades happening (lot of volume right now) but I don't see the orders in the order book being updated when trades occur. Also, I try placing (limit) orders, price them within the spread, but it seems that they almost never get executed... Not sure if I'm missing something
-
-
volume bot? any more info on that? and do we know if it is placing market orders, or limit orders? sorry, i'm a newbie with these things and it all looks a little mysterious
-
-
Happened to me as well. My DEX trades do not work. Others (wanted to trade a particular card with someone) do not see my orders..
-
Can someone open xcp dispensers ?
-
I see 3 dispensers opening up right now - should be there in next block
-
I was speaking of dex-trade.com. Not aware of issues on the DEX... Do you have a transaction ID we can look up on xchain?
-
I think this asset never paid an xcp fee to issue. I think if I remember correctly doge was the first to issue paying an xcp fee
-
Yea it’s a bot but the bot buys higher than floor, it’s almost like someone wants to accumulate
-
-
Can’t post?
-
Oooh. I can? Anyone knows what happened with the free wallet app in AppStore?
-
My phone has offloaded it since o hadn’t used it for a while and now not available on AppStore. 😢

Ouch

Any details on what issue Apple had with it?

lol, i report metamask as malicious malware anytime I use any app store. its web 0 at best
-
FYI Doing a reparse of the last 6 days on xchain.io.... site will be down for a few hours until it is caught back up
-
think it might be that I need to renew the apple developer license.... will look into it next week... but the mobile version of the wallet is old/outdated.... should start using freewallet-desktop instead
