To celebrate #rarepepes finally becoming a whole collection I have designed this commemorative set of XCP NFTs. I have setup a dispenser to pay out 36 tokens per 0.067 BTC. 50% of sales to be donated to Counterparty.
-
Oh that’s cool, very creative
-
-
just scroll in to see each tokens name all over the picture
-
-
-
The way exchanges work is all funds are deposited into a hotwallet and they have records for how much XCP belongs to what user in their system

Hi, can some tell me how to create a custom asset name on counterparty?
-
I created one but the asset name is a string of numbers A11108308507282498855
-
I would appreciate any advice how to do this :)
-
-
Tip? You can sell it in dispensers

Need to use coindaddy, verify address, replace icon free

Ok thanks again I'll give it a try

Great 👍
-
Is there any distributed file system we can use for asset/NFT's on counterparty. Like ipfs?
-
not currently... I do plan on implementing support for ipfs on xchain.io in the coming months... so at some point, yes ipfs will work if you wanted to store your file on ipfs
-
Ok thanks for clearing that up for me :)
-
Would be great to add the distributed file system feature

hey @jdogresorg
i just funded a SegWit address with BTC and XCP from my FreeWallet but is not signing txs. Different from other addresses that do work.
When I tried to inspect the Priv Key it says FALSE.
What could be happening? if that address didn't came from the original wallet, then where did the address came from? -

Counterparty friends.... we have an auction in just over 16 hours...
https://t.me/WTHAuctionHouse
Lot distribution across collections looks like this -
have you been able to resolve this issue? I had the exact same problem a few days ago and never could recover the funds nor understand what happened.
-
Who's ready and registered for the Rare Pepe and other Counterparty collectibles auction?
It's on in 14 hours!
https://roaringauctions.com -
yes i did solved the issue.
Apparently when you import different wallets with different seedphrases into your FreeWallet desktop app all the addresses keep showing up from either wallet. So for example if you log out from wallet A and log in with wallet B, you still see all the addresses controlled by wallet A but no actions can be taken from those adresses like sending funds or creating assets, nor you can inspect the priv key, it just shows FALSE.
The solutions is to import the correct seedphrase that controlls the address you're willing to use. If you keep all your seedphrases then you're good.
I imported one by one all the counterparty seedphrases I keep and each time i tried the 'view private key' option until i found the right one ;) -
Many thanks for the detailed explanation. As I don’t remember using multiple seeds, not sure what I can try though. What I’m suspecting is that I might have clicked “new wallet” rather than “open existing wallet” on my very first use of freewallet. Then realised that “open existing wallet” is what I needed, so i quickly closed and reopened the application to use “open wallet”. From that point, (although this is only speculation) I had some addresses in my address list for which I no longer had private keys, leading to the coin loss some days later. IMO it is extremely dangerous for freewallet to keep such addresses (with no private keys) in its address list. At least a strong warning / label would be needed to mark such addresses.

Hey guys I completely forgot I had this chat been in the other chat quick question so i have a pepe to upload but it keeps getting changed to mp4 does the xchain counterparty wallet support mp4. I don’t have much XCP so I don’t wanna mess anything up
-
Any examples of how to list recent dispenses using cp api?
-
Hello XCP people, i have a guy i handhelded to open a dispenser on a normal dedicated BTC wallet (not his main wallet) .... now he is having the problem that the XCP has been dispensed but the wallets in the list of his addreses are not the same then yesterday, he now does not have the dispensed wallets any more in his freewallet overview and he has not stored the private key as i told him to do for each dispensing address
-
-
I have multiple address (in freewallet) that I have labeled them. Is there a way to save/export the settings so as if I would like to install freewallet to another PC, to import the settings? (is there a file where all settings are being saved?)
-
Does anyone know what's up with Indiesquare? Is the company dead? Just tried starting the app on my phone and it doesn't seem to functional either
-
Logout, close wallet, reopen it, put in 12 word passphrase, should rebuild wallet
-
Not currently
-
i told him already to do so, also to try using another user profile, but obviously that didnt help
-
Only way addresses get created is via importing a 11-word passphrase or importing private keys…. Musta been using multiple 12-word passphrases…. It’s the only thing that makes sense
-
yes his error description doesnt makes sense for me either, i had him reinstalling the freewallet at the beginning, because he created a new wallet after initial start and did not import his seed at the first beginning and had troubles creating a dispenser or something
-
-
-
-
No need to format, just logout and login with 12-word passphrase or use dif computer
-
-
-
what is the minimum BTC balance needed in an addy (where the dispenser is) to close the dispenser? For example, if I want to broadcast the closing dispenser transaction with 0.00001 BTC txFee, what would be the minimum BTC balance needed in my addy, so counterparty/freewallet to be able to broadcast the tx without any error messages? (I guess more than 0.00001 BTC ?) Is there a pattern like (tx amount + x btc amount reserved as balance) ?
-
you SHOULD be able to just send the fee over and do a transaction which uses just the fee.... but, if that doesnt work, will need to send a bit more BTC over, close the tx, then sweep/move the BTC
-
The issue is that I have many dispensers in different addys , and I do not want to send like $10 in each addy for tx fees, just in case....
-
I have been able to move all BTC out of my address in the past week by just using MAX then deducting the tx fee from it... so it SHOULD work
-
Thanks a lot for the prompt reply !
-
give it a try on one address and check that it works for ya first 🙂
-
prolly send 0.0001 to the address... bitcoin wont let you send dust, and your tx fee is going to be less than the dust amount prolly
-
👍
-
yeah, that's an issue actually. If I sent 0.00001 and it is not enough, by sending 0.000005 more, it will prolly not fix the issue, since closing dispenser transaction will need 2 inputs then, and prolly considered as dust... am I saying/understood that correctly? 😬

Just go to xchain.io then click on issuance tab without entering any addy and you can see all recent issuances
-

You sweep addresses not entire wallet
-
-
any idea of the derivation path used by freewallet.io or rarepepewallet?

we use custom derivation path
m/0'/0/0
m/0'/0/1
m/0'/0/2
m/0'/0/3
... etc
last number is address index -
in the future, please try searching teh chat for an answer before asking.... saves us all time having to repeat things taht have already been answered multiple times
-
BIP39 is a specific wordlist... nothing to do with derivation
-
you should be using COUNTERWALLET wordlist (the default in counterwallet and freewallet) and not worry about the derivation path
-
you can dump the private key to any address generated by the 12-word passsphrase, and then import that address into electrum or somet other wallet and not have to worry about derivation
-
or use JP's electrum tools
- 11 October 2021 (60 messages)
-
I'm basically trying to import it into electrum. My bad i was googling it but should have searched this chat.
-
Sounds like it's not bip39 then that's good to know.
Does it have a master private key? I've got probably 15 address with 10 bucks each.
🙏 -
"master private key"
-
your 12-word passphrase is what generates the seed
-
the seed is used to generate addresses
-
you can dump the private keys for individual addresses and just import those into electrum
-
prolly the best method.
-
-
If a CP asset was sent to a wallet using xpub, would anything happen? I’ve always wondered this?
-
xpub afaik is just a way to generate normal public/private keys. like a tree and its branches. you dont send to an xpub, you send to the adresses it generates.
By the same logic im sure you can extract the private key 'somehow' and import into free wallet. -
-
-
ok here's a post with some relevant details, thanks for jdog for the key word. this will help.
https://counterpartytalk.org/t/possibility-of-bip39-electrum-seed-in-counterwallet/3827Possibility of BIP39 Electrum Seed in CounterwalletCounterwallet uses a different dictionary than BIP39. The CW dictionary consists of 1626 words where any 12 word combo is a valid passphrase. BIP39 has a 2048 word list where a valid 12 word seedphrase must pass a checksum test. AFAIK Electrum uses a subset of these seedphrases. What’s interesting for our purpose is that CW can continue using its default format AND allow the option of logging in with a BIP39 phrase. It can check the login for a CW passphrase as normal. If it fails, check if ...

Anybody know how to generate a ton of wallet addresses programmatically? I lost a dispenser address and private key and can no longer see it in counterparty wallet nor free wallet. I want to generate a ton and check em. I found a tool for python2 but it was dated and I guess chat won't let me post the link. Any help is greatly appreciated!
The python2 tool didn't work so I changes some things and made it run in python3 but the underlying logic stayed the same. However, it seems like it was spitting out the wrong addresses as they didn't match any in my wallet. I even generated over 100 thousand address and none of the even matched the first address from my seed/passphrase.
However, the addresses did resolve on xchain
Not sure what I'm missing... Thanks. -
However, I can't share the link..
-
It's on counterpartytalk .org
-
all the addresses generated from a 12-word passphrase are indexed (ie, they appear in the exact same order)... if your not seeing them in your wallet then perhaps you used a different passphrase... cuz the 12-word passphrase always accesses the same addresses
-
it is not random... so no need to generate 100K addresses looking for one
-
they are indexed.. ie in order
-
I know they are deterministic
-
I need a programmatic way for generating some using my passphrase
-
what I am saying is your chasing down a wrong path... your looking for an address... the addresses are generated in order.. no way that counterwallet or freewallet generated thousands of addresses... so your wasting your time generating 100K
-
I found that old python2 tool but the addresses seem like legit btc addresses but not matching the ones in my wallet.. Not sure what I'm missing.
-
perhaps you used a slightly different passphrase... maybe a word was capitalized or something
-
No I've triple checked the phrase. Question, are the dispensers addressed the the passphrase. I feel like that's a dumb question, but are there any differences there?
-
dispensers are just normal addresses generated by the wallet
-
counterwallet generates address 1, checks if it has a BTC blance, then moves on to 2, etc.. until it hits an address with no BTC
-
That's what I thought. So I should be able to generate about 20-30 and find them.
-
freewallet generates the first 1 addresses
-
so not sure how you "lost" an address unless the passphrase/seed is different
-
Are there any major differences to btc vs xcp wallet formats? Aren't they identical?
-
yes.. in freewallet you can click "add new address" and it will add them one by one
-
I see.
-
Counterparty works with bitcoin addresses.. there are not "XCP addresses"
-
That's what I thought. I'm just checking my sanity. Thanks my friend!
-
Just need to marinade on it and think about what I'm missing...
-
only differences are the custom wordlist (counterwallet vs BIP39) and the derivation path are different
-
-
Thanks for that info! If you have any additional info on this or sources I would appreciate it. I will of course do my own research as well.
-
search this chat for "derivation"

👍Thanks!

Or can that change?

Once you login to your wallet with passphrase you will see a few ways to purchase. Hope that helps.

I think you can also purchase through dispensers in free wallet. Free wallet desktop is the best version!

not that this time... .that is not how vending machines work... vending machines sell items for a set price... you don't put $10 into a vending machine and says "who wants to sell me a candy bar for this price"..... that is what the DEX is for

dispensers are akin to vending machines, selling a specific item for a specific price

Question, can I use Electrum to bump the fee of a create_dispenser transaction stuck in the mempool ? (After importing the relevant private key of course)
-
you can use blockchair.com to check your tx and see how much is in the utxo that the miner fee is pulling from. If you create a new tx that uses a fee that is equal to or lower than the remainder, it should create a child pays for parent, assuming you're paying a higher fee. mempool.space is good source to get an idea of the fee needed, and it will show if you have a CPFP along with your effective rate when searching your txid.
-
@jdogresorg Hey have you had any time to think about the issue with importing different addresss scripts into freewallet? I havent been able to solve it yet.
-
It's a good practice of time preference, having a pepe at an address where I can look at it but not touch it, i guess

It is possible to code a txn that would include transferrence of an xcp asset that could be entered manually in the bitcoin console, rite? or wrong...

yes, you can use the CP API to generate an unsigned transaction for any bitcoin address, then could sign that bitcoin transaction with a bitcoin wallet.

Hey everyone! Hope you all are fine.
-
Got a quick question about the free wallet desktop application. If you login with passphrase for more that one wallet, do all of them get stored locally and when using the application, it can look as if its all one wallet?
-
Hopefully that makes sense. Because I have a theory:
If a user installs free wallet for the first time and accidentally clicks to create a new wallet, then goes back to enter in their passphrase, are both wallets now on that device? -
Coinbase follows FTX and Binance in launching NFT marketplace

Anything stand out as bad input on my end?
-
What's the probability that Coinbase integrates Counterparty NFTs anytime soon ?
-
-
-
I believe that's what probably happened to me and caused a 137 xcp loss last month. Same thing can easily happen to others. IMHO that's a pretty critical UI bug and there should be some kind of strong warning in Freewallet and/or stop displaying addresses which are not derived from one's passphrase in the My Addresses list
-
Nope looks like a standard send with send data encoded in op_return
-
Yes I am not sure how but I do agree something needs to be done if this is the behavior.
-
Wallet should reset entirely on entering new passphrase but sometimes seems that happens…, best to just enter your 12-word passphrase from beginning
-
Or use created wallet…. Or write down passphrase like wallet makes u confirm you have done
-
Can’t do more than make u confirm you wrote down 12 words before proceeding…. If you don’t do it and confirm in wallet you did, that’s on u
-
Follow directions, read all warnings, write down what wallet tells u to (and makes u confirm u did)
-
Sorry for any issues…. But ppl speed through shit and don’t read then get upset they didn’t follow directions…. Only so much I can do to protect ppl from themselves….. making them confirm they wrote down 12 word passphrase should be enough
-
Understood. That how the funds I'm looking for were lost and now at least we know what happened. So the user had downloaded the wallet and accidentally clicked to create new wallet. Then backed up to put in passphrase and then she was actually in both wallets but to her it was her wallet from the passphrase. She made some dispensers generated from the new created wallet and she didn't have a clue. Then the wallet had some error for some reason. She uninstalled and then reinstalled. Then she entered her passphrase only to not see what she thought was the rest of her wallet not knowing it was a wallet stored in her local drive from when she accidentally created the initial wallet. Hope that makes sense. She lost A LOT of money..
-
Thanks for this feedback…. Will work on finding/fixing issue where addresses from multiple passphrases exist… should solve issue going forward
-
Now we have been trying to regenerate the wallets from her passphrase but it was a totally different wallet. Right now she has two seeded wallets with 2 different passphrases and beczuse she has loggin into both on the desktop app she can see both wallets in the same session.
-
Should only use one passphrase not multiple
-
Making sure addresses reset fully when switching passphrases should resolve issue
-
Will work on update for next release
-
+1000 Thanks a lot

It's all good man Thanks for all your hard work. However I did put in about 3 days worth of investigating to finally figure this out so if it's worth anybody's time, feel free to donate btc or xcp. I gotta eat too. lol 1JXHZKgN5SRzC2TdbZHh1RmZMV8GxokpHR

using BTC on the dex to buy something requires the user to use a wallet like freewallet.io desktop wallet which monitors for order matches and sends BTC to pay for the order match within 20 blocks..... if your SELLING something for BTC, then you can expect to get some order matches which expire cuz some ppl dont understand how BTC on the DEX works.... your card is not lost, it is escrowed on the dex, and will remain there until either someone pays you the BTC for the order match, or until the order expires and your address is credited back the card/asset... have no fear, nothing is lost on the DEX, just using BTC is a bit more complex than most orders on the DEX which are fire-n-forget style orders
-
close... the submit a buy order, then when the order matches, they have 20 blocks to send a BTCpay transaction to pay for the order match, or the order match expires and your card becomes available again for someone else to try and buy with BTC... rinse and repeat until the order matches with a BTC buyer who actually sends the BTC before the order match expires
-
no worries, its good to ask questions about stuff which is not straightforward... and using BTC on the DEX can requires some explaination 🙂
-
probably even with understanding ppl feel that ask also is better. no stress
-
Xchain is down

What is the problem ? We getting this every few days

hmmmm.... rarepepewallet down too

everything is back! 🏆

I transferred ownership of an asset to another address, the transaction shows valid but the asset is still listed in the originating address, i tried sending it again and it said can't transfer because asset in 2nd address, did I need to lock the asset before transfer ?
-
No Doggo, No Life!

SEED: total supply 100, but quantity issued 1,000,000,000? I don't get it
-
-
-
check destructions.... using destroy supply function actually destroys some of the supply and reduces the total supply displayed on xchain
-
lock only locks you from issuing additional supply... nothing to do with transferring ownership... coulda just been xchain lagging a bit (was some downtime a few hours ago)
-
OK, makes sense!
-
Hello, I made a token, how can I add an image to the token?

Right click - change description - add picture via imgur like this imgur/XXXX.png; MY ASSET TEXT

thank you!!

Close freeewallet and reopen… reinstalling won’t fix a networking issue which is prolly what it is

Right. Not enough of an insider to know if there’s Brian money in this chat 🤔. He’s still a bitcoiner but you’d probably still need to go after him, and it sure seems to me that people here like doing their own thing and not lick anyone’s ass
-
I'm trying to close a dispenser but getting an error message. I sent around $10 in BTC to dispenser so there is a bit of balance for fees. Not working though for some reason.
-
"Error while trying to sign dispenser transaction. Please try again." is the pop up message
-
signing is a wallet issue... try changing addresses then changing back... or worst case logout entirely, close wallet, then re-open and re-import 12-word passphrase
-
divisible cards work that way, someone can buy a fraction... hence why for cards the NON-DIVISIBLE card is best
-
when the card was created, the asset owner choose to make the card divisible 1.00000000 instead of 1
-
this is not something you can control, only the asset issuer can at the time of issuance... just letting you know that with divisible assets/cards, you can buy a fraction of the card... it is normal behavior for divisible cards 🙂
-
correct... can just paste in hash from order to cancel
-
with a dispenser, you can control the "give amount"... and set it to 1.0000000... so that you only sell 1 entire token and not a fraction
-
If anyone is experiencing similar situation, we are going to attempt this data recovery tool ( google, "EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard" ) to get the local files back from the original install. With a little luck we can restore the lost wallet. Figured I would post it in case it helps anyone.

I will follow up on our results

Hello all, may I ask a question?

is there any way of customizing colours in wallet?

want terminal like colors, green numbers & fonts with black background

white background wrecks my order with rest of desktop 😂

or what to google for

I'm just guessing that it's in the resources.pak file and I don't know much about those file types. Look in your programfiles for free wallet

Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out how the pepecash dex works. I have a buy order for an asset that is higher than the lowest sell order for that asset (in pepecash) but the buy isn’t going through (it’s just sitting on the dex) any thing I’m missing here?
-
This doesn’t happen on the xcp dex FYI
-
What I mean is pepecash pairs with an asset
-
Did the transaction confirm?
-
Yes the buy order is on the market
-
And there’s a sell order on the same market that is lower so they should be filled right?
-
So for example there’s a sell for 2000 pepecash and I have a buy order for 3000 pepecash, so they should match right?
-
Yeah. That sounds right. Weird.
-
@jdogresorg someone said to ask you this
IS enough to create a transaction with that exact OP_RETURN OUTPUT?
If it is, then you can either make the transaction in a wallet that supports OP_RETURN (electrum, maybe?) or create the transaction manually -
And about the txn I created, he said
-
-
Tx has to originate from the source address
-
Please just wait until I get a chance to work on the private keys import update in freewallet
-
Very busy, don’t have time to keep answering random questions like this

Or create an issue on counterparty-lib on GitHub with details of issue and wait for it to get fixed

Hey. Crazy idea. What about a Stackoverflow for Counterparty + xchain? I think they do free team SOs now.

7+ years and no XCP listing... yet they list shitcoins on the daily... Coinbase started down the wrong path peddling shitcoins a long time ago... they have turned to the dark side 😛
-
why do u think that is? Is it difficult to get a node up? what would hold them back?
-
it is literally like 4 commands to get a CP node up.... You would need to ask Brian why he hasn't listed XCP... only he knows.
-
-
XCP is too fast and too cheap for anyone who's interested in profiting from smart contracts or tokens or all the stuff that ethereum supposedly "made possible" most of which were already happening on xcp
-
Also, no one controls it, and development on the bitcoin network will always prioritize security before features, so it isn't as easily manipulated for whatever the hot new money idea is. Also it's never been scammed so it would be impossible to claim no responsibilty for all the projects who's investors got taken for all their money
-
never been hacked i should say
-
I think mainly bc the counterparty foundation burned btc, unlike the eth foundation that collected billions of dollars worth of btc and had funds to market and financially incentivized ppl in control

not true... was hacked once right around the time of the launch... but the hacker was a whitehat and gave back all the funds ... https://counterparty.io/news/two-bitcoin-security-experts-to-audit-counterparty-code/Two Bitcoin Security Experts to Audit Counterparty Code | Counterparty
An anonymous white hat hacker recently discovered a vulnerability in the counterpartyd code, which he exploited to steal 35,000 XCP from Poloniex, a centralized exchange on which XCP is traded. The bug was quickly fixed and the fraudulent transaction invalidated, but not before the attacker sold the stolen funds for approximately 115 BTC, which he
-
My mistake; I was referring to bitcoin which xcp runs on, but I was also not aware of that incident
-
few are... it was very early on
-
Which is what you would expect from a new project that was on the way to being secure but had soft spots starting out
-
when somethings been around 7 8 years
-
and there are still hacks (doesn't matter that its stuff built on eth, bc thats what the intention was) its inexcusable
-
So it could've been anywhere, or was poloniex especially vulnerable for some reason
-
coulda been anywhere I believe... not sure the tech details were ever released
-
Yea that's what it sounds like from that article, hush hush
-
a lot of reasons coinbase lists coins is getting paid to do it from premines that also make those projects centralized, that's how they are able to give away coins to people watching those advertisements they call lessons - a real project with unforgeable costliness can't pay off scammers like brian armostrong
-
Totally agree Burning BTC to create XCP was a very smart move that will forever legitimize this platform. Open source, community driven, secure.
-
Coinbase has to report thier performance to the equities market every quarter now. Thier only objective at this point is to maximize profits to keep their brand in favor and share price up. Expect more shitcoin listings to collect $$$.
-
if your asking about an order you placed that is still in the mempool... its based on the tx fee you paid... if your asking about an order that is confirmed and matching on the dex and using BTC... then the person buying with BTC has to use freewallet-desktop and enable auto-BTCpay and keep the wallet open and listening for matches and pay for the order match within 20 blocks or the order match expires
-
in the future, please post helpful info like a link to the actual order in question so we don't have to guess what your asking 🙂
