But as XCP is a DEX it can already trade natively with BTC, so it doesn’t need atomic swaps with btc, but atomic swaps with LTC directly could save fees, and segwit reduces the tx data size which also brings fees down 30% or so.

Your thinking of the DEX as a traditional exchange where your orders are instantly placed and matched with someone.... on the DEX orders are only matched when they actually get into a block... so, even LN wouldn't help.

You could run a parallel xcp dex that just settles on the lightning layer and settles to the main XCP dex on the core btc chain

What is the confirmation time for a token on CounterParty, not an XCP transfer itself - but an asset, is it still 10 minutes? Or is there a system which indicates that a transaction is XX.XX% going to confirm?

And will CounterParty's adaption of Lightning reduce token transfer times in the same way?

A counterparty transaction is a bitcoin transaction... a counterparty transaction only confirms when the Bitcoin transaction which contains the Counterparty transaction is written to a block.... ie, you can use the XX.XX% confidence number you see associated with the bitcoin transaction.

Agreed with the undervalued element but I don't think you're thinking of it in terms of BTC. It's actually lost about 95% relative to BTC since 2014.

If you invested 10 BTC in eth you would have 16mill right now whereas if you invested the same in xcp at the ATH you would have approx 12,000 vs 100k in btc alone. Quite a staggering decline.

Seriously though, just stating that no, 2014 was not necessarily a good entry point on any stretch of the imagination for all projects and thinking in fiat terms is a bit of a misnomer

Well put it this way- Whilst I think XCP is *drastically* undervalued and underappreciated, it's never been a speculators dream by any measure. But It has utility, you can build things using it, it's deflationary and there's a bunch of cool things being built on it

It's just that everyone started building on ETH instead. But XCP has a bunch of it's own projects. I wouldn't be holding out any hopes of a short term payday if that's the only reason you want to get involved. Pretty much all alts are bleeding currently.

Yeah, and if XCP had the same market cap of ETH each unit of XCP would be $30,000. I'm not sure what's going on with the fork but in theory whatever happens services designed for either chain are to a degree cross compatible. I welcome any competition to the ERC20 influx that has taken over recently. Many of the tokens aren't particularly smart and are simply speculative issuances. The risk model in many cases is lower issuing an asset on bitcoin when special features aren't required

I have been invested in xcp for 4 years now. Everyone has always maintained how feature complete cp is and how much great it works as a meta layer. Founders didn’t line their pockets. Yet we suffered due to active sabotage from bitcoin core devs in 2014, lack of funds and publicity, and as a meta layer we inherited bitcoins tx costs. All of this contributed to lack of adoption and prevented cp from realising its potential. As an investor I think sometimes will it ever realize its potential

Now the latest hope is that bitcoin solves its issues via LN leaving us on a secure network with low tx costs. Also at some point someone is going to successfully implement xcp on LN
