That happens constantly. The list is updating. I've had that almost happen to me. But you have to double check.
If you've got that kinda money and didn't double check it's kinda your own fault -

He uses FreeWallet refuses to understand how the fee calculation works, and then bitches because he use the wallet in a way that he expects it to work versus how it actually works.
Other people have already tried to explain to him that calculation happens after you enter all the information in about the transaction …
But he don’t wanna hear it…. Easier to scream and stomp your feet and shit rather than realize you’re not using the Wallet as it was designed.
And incredible how there’s thousands of users of the wallet, and they all managed to figure out the fee calculation without complaining much …. But their super smart user can’t figure out the basics?
TLDR… ID-10-T error -
im not newbie lol
-
-
He entered his manual fee calculation…. FreeWallet determine the correct fee to use…. He probably entered in his low fee again….. then complained when his low fee transaction doesn’t hit a dispenser immediately.
Blame the wallet himself 🤷🏻♂️ -
He starting to sound like fud raker
-
No, please don’t… YOU should uninstall it…. It’s much too complex for you to use…. I suggest you build your own wallet, since you clearly know how a wallet should operate😀👍🏻
-
at some point, you got a fight fire with fire….. I could calmly try to explain to this guy how the fee calculation is done at the end end of the transaction…. Which I did earlier…
But at the end of the day, haters going to hate , if he really wanted, he could use use rarepepewallet.com, rpw.wtf, xcp.ninja, or some other wallet. His only interest in here is to bitch and moan🤷🏻♂️ -
-
used it for years I see the tx fees change and always double check them. seems like you are in the wrong chat to complain as there is a fw specific chat where you could ask

I am curious what the process is now for a community member to suggest a change to counterparty, discuss it, move it to a solid proposal, get more community feedback on that proposal, and then move it to an actual improvement that gets implemented in code?
I am also curious why the CIPs repo was deleted entirely along with the forums, yet NOT restored when the forums were restored?
The Counterparty community had a process defined for the community to participate in discussions (The Counterparty Improvements Proposal) process, and it contained 9+ years of suggestions and improvements. Unfortunately, all those proposals have been deleted, links to those proposals are broken, and people are no longer able to lookup information in those propsals (for instance, CIP25 which defined the JSON spec for linking information like images/video/audio/html, etc to a token. This repo also contained detailed information on specs such as the length and characters used in subassets, etc.)
This is yet another thing which has been "accidentally" changed, renamed, deleted, removed, without discussions.
Current "CIPS" repo has been renamed to "Forum" and all CIPs are deleted
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/Forum
Counterparty Improvement Proposals archive :
https://github.com/jdogresorg/cips
I would like to suggest that the "Counterparty Improvement Proposals" process be restored, as that process was approved by the community and used for many years to suggest improvements, and I am not aware of ANY discussions with the community about removing or changing this process.GitHub - CounterpartyXCP/Forum: Counterparty Discussion ForumsCounterparty Discussion Forums. I wasn't part of the decision to rename the CIP repo to "Forum" or archive the CIPs themselves (which are still available in the commit history, e.g.: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/Forum/tree/1e362f7f8668654d0241fe5b1f1c1c330a8b4368) but the CIP process has never been followed: According to CIP 1, which defines the CIP process: 'Once a CIP has been accepted, its status should formally be set to "Accepted" and its reference implementation must be completed. When the reference implementation is complete and merged into the master branch of the relevant Counterparty repositories, the status should be changed to "Final"', yet there is not a single CIP with the "Final" status. Additionally, some CIPs that haven't even been "Accepted" have had their implementations merged in to master (e.g. CIP 3); some CIPs do not fully specify their features (e.g. CIP 21). Additionally, not every mandatory upgrade has had a CIP (e.g. many protocol changes in 9.61).GitHub - CounterpartyXCP/Forum at 1e362f7f8668654d0241fe5b1f1c1c330a8b4368

Yep, the CIPs were not deleted; they're still available in the GitHub repo (as is noted in the repo README). You can just update your links to point to a commit in that repo that has them. (This is standard practice for referencing data under source control.)
The reason I archived the CIPs is that they were almost exclusively a vehicle for abuse of the development process. They're one of reasons why development of Counterparty has been so unhealthy stagnant and politicized. Even by the admission of those who administered them, they were at best just an alternative to a discussion forum, but of course they were used mostly for in-fighting.
This subject was discussed in the Counterparty Dev Channel (see https://t.me/Counterparty_Dev/12662) and there was a poll about where/how to host a community forum going forward. As the repo README says, proposals for changing Counterparty should just be made with regular GitHub issues, like with other open source projects. Open-ended discussion can be held using GitHub Discussions.Adam in Official Counterparty Dev ChatThere was no CIP process... there was a repo full of discussions that should be on forums.
-
where on the poll was an option to keep the CIP's the way they were? How were we supposed to weigh in on this... and to hold open-ended discussion on this topic, should I start a discussion in the Github instead?

Your objection is to renaming the repo?

I'm proud to announce the official launch of *Unspendable Labs*—a new company that Evan and I founded as the vehicle for some of projects that don't fall under what I can do as maintainer of Counterparty Core.
When I took back over the the maintainer role for @CounterpartyXCP five months ago, I was struck by how hamstrung the community is by the space's limited infrastructure... this is a cryptocurrency network with a billion dollars of value riding on it! Counterparty desperately needs some new tooling—so we've decided to start building some. We'll do this through the new company, which will develop products and services for the Counterparty ecosystem and also contribute directly to the development of Counterparty Core.
Unspendable Labs is not a Counterparty foundation—it's a for-profit business whose interests will *often* align with those of Counterparty. Unspendable Labs will also build software for other cryptocurrencies + networks. Our first products are going to be a new cross-platform wallet and block explorer—called *Horizon*—that will have native Counterparty support. My hope is that Unspendable Labs demonstrates that the interests of businesses that rely on Counterparty are best served by *making Counterparty better for everyone*.
To get regular updates, please subscribe to our mailing list (see https://www.unspendablelabs.com) and follow @UnspendableLabs on Twitter. If you're interested in chatting about Unspendable Labs and what we're working on, feel free to DM me and Evan and we'd love to chat with you about it. -

Anyone know if subassets are issuable on numerics or only on named assets?

honestly a great question - I havent ever seen a numeric with a subasset... so im gonna take an educated guess and say the feature is only reserved for named assets

Can’t really test using freewallet these days, so thought I’d ask

The sub-asset is numerical but it somehow resolves to a name. I seem to remember one of the core guys being against sub assets all together but it was implemented anyway.

(the protocol can be changed!)
-
Well I don’t expect it to be changed on my account, but thinking through a possible usecase. Need to write-up something formal first to get my idea coherently in writing
-
Named subassets to numerical assets is going to look really silly.
-
You don’t know what I’m proposing or how it will be used. I’ll try and release some documentation soon but it’s likely not what you’re thinking
-
-
Free numbered subassets for a named asset would be great.
-
this I agree with
-
I agree. That's why its gonna work.
-
While we’re talking about changes, I would think subassets of xcp that anyone can register would be a very logical addition to the protocol.
The uppercase Latin naming scheme of 4-12 characters wherein the first character cannot be an A is far too restrictive for any real use case for a naming service, but a change as simple as this would allow for a puny code based namespace with global reach -
yeah I have no idea why there's a fee for subassets... it's not like you can squat against yourself
-
I'm fully in favor of expanding the namespace. I understand that it will have economic consequences, but *everything* does. And increasing the overall utility of the network should benefit ~everyone on the network. A rising tide lifts all boats.
-
-
-
-
@herpenstein I think someone (you? I forget who) has already written up a more concrete proposal for this
-
So its an anti-squatting mechanism after all... I was told it was an anti-spam mechanism. 😁
-
-
Free subassets would be yuggge
-
Still have to pay to register main asset
-
-
See https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/milestones?direction=asc&sort=title&state=open for the current roadmap.

I think we finally found something everyone agrees on ❤️
-
Thx for posting it 🙏
-
And in the disagreements, treat each other with respect and with an open mind.
Is better for everyone if we move forward in agreement.
@teysol unblock me if you want my support for the latest proposals in GitHub 😊 -
Pretty easy solution here, use a named assets
-
Yes but subassets still cost to mint. Removing a fee for sub assets would make xcp way more scalable
-
And elevate named assets!
I like to call them super-assets because of their subasset creation capability. And is tied to similar programming concepts… -
-
a subasset is still an extension of a named asset (child). Numerics are free cuz you get no choice really other than numbers in the name. Named assets and subassets allow the user to customize the token name, a premium service, which should continue to pay the XCP fee. If your going to consider removing the fee on subassets, at LEAST increase the named asset registration cost. With no fee on subassets, one named asset registration would allow you to spam infinite subassets. IMO ppl should focus on adding NEW functionality, not changing, breaking, removing functionality.
-
But "spam" infinite subassets is already prevented by the bitcoin fees themselves
-
Exactly. We have to get over this idea that "use" automatically equals "spam" particularly if you we want Counterparty to scale to the levels of practically any other protocol in terms of use/users. There are 60 million inscriptions. I've never once heard Ordinal devs complaining about there being "too much usage".
-
Is not like people are currently fighting to use counterparty
-
maybe 5-10 registrations a day? This is orders of magnitude lower than where it needs to be in order to be viewed as a viable alternative to other protocols
-
Holders of named assets should be freaked the fuck out about this. This level of use is not good for anyone.
-
Also the big plundering of named assets has already occured in the past, you can find many accounts with hundreds and thousands of names reserved with no use at all
-
The value of all those named assets is tied to the ongoing health of the protocol itself. And yes users = health. No one will give a shit about named assets on a protocol no one uses. They'll register something on Ordinals instead. I'm sure there are all sorts of name protocols. Attracting users/use to Counterparty is critical even if you don't like the usecase.
-
if youre interested in scaling and a user is burning xcp to make it, i dont think a limit should be implemented.... in the event the older ideas like using MCAT (which would allow for multiple Counterparty functions from multiple addresses to be compressed into a single tx) then it could become "spam" worthy.... but even then, if you are burning xcp, I wouldnt consider it spam.... it would be pay to create as it has always been
-
as for this, they are discussing bringing in assets that start with A or less than 4 letter tokens.... which has been in continuous discussion since i got here in 2016
-
I'm gonna fight for AL
-
-
always the doomerfag in here

doomerfag? Dude, I don't know many people who promote counterparty more than I do. I wrote an article that covers a lot of the history and potential of Counterparty here: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/print/everything-old-is-new-again-Everything Old Is New Again
