So it’s not the same thing as burning supply right?
-
"burning" is a specific thing that was done with XCP where you could burn/destroy BTC and get XCP back
-
you can send funds to a "burn" address.. but it just locks funds up in an unusable address, and does not remove the amount from the supply
-
you can "destroy" funds to actually remove the funds from the supply and have the suppy amount displayed on xchain lowered
-
now off to vegas for a boys weekend.... back on Monday 🙂
-
Thanks!
-
-
-
Try putting the https:// in front of xcp.coindaddy.io
-
Will need to look into why it is putting the *…. It shouldn’t be going that… but heard a couple ppl complain in the last couple weeks
-
ok ill give that a try. one thing im waiting on the mempool for is changing the asset name in the json path from the string of numbers to it's actual name since it's a subasset
-
-
Subasset json should work too
-
I just default to actual asset name
-
-
I had dramas that way so used the long title
-
took ages to confirm thou
-
hours
-
that worked. it is now enabled on coindaddy! thanks enjoy vegas!

Hi all !
-
Quick one (I am sure it has already been asked): is there a way to check when a picture has been added / modified for a specific xcp asset ?
-
Not a simple question... To my knowledge, you can only tell if a picture was modified if both the URL that points to the JSON and the URL that points to the image contain some sort of strong authentication hash that depends on the file contents and version (such as links to IPFS, github, imgur if I'm not mistaken)
-
Someone technical please confim :)
-
Actually I have same question for the json.
Right now I am checking the headers of the URL and find a date under “last modified” but I am not sure it is the best way to check -
And would like to know if there are some proof on chain. Look like all the json and pic are stored in xchain website only (except some creator who stored like the SHA256 of the file on chain)
-
You can see if an image was added at a later date looking at any description changes on the issuance tab.
As far as a json file changing the image that has already been posted in the description, not sure about that. -
Not sure changing or uploading an image is adding something on the issuance page
-
I have example of token with issuance lines 7y ago but image uploaded few days ago (confirmed by issuer)
-
If image is stored in the description (like the imgurl shortcuts) then you will see the change in “issuance”
-
-
Yes the key thing to remember is that only changes to the Description field are logged on the blockchain
-
Could include a hash of the image in description as an issuance so even if the Json changes then the hash wouldn’t match the image linked in the Json
-
So there would be evidence of the change
-
Hash should be an earlier issuance than Json pointer
-
Most of the case the pic is saved under information-> digital artwork
-
Example here
-
The pic has been added recently here
-
But no evidence I can find here (except if I look at the last modified headers)
-
Can you past the name of the asset ?
-
-
I have plenty of example
-
JPJA
-
(The link keep getting removed :) )
-
I just checked JPJA... I don't see any recent updates. Are you sure the picture was added recently? If so, perhaps xchain has some special support for assets part of the Kaleidoscope project
-
Yes I am 100% sure, it has been confirmed by JP.
You can see it as well if you look at the headers (Last modified) -
Would be good to check with @jdogresorg when he s back from his weekend. I understood from previous messages that sometimes xchain.io website is caching images - but I’m not clear on the rules
-
Assets associated with projects take their asset image from the project json
-
That’s where the jpja image comes from….. kaleidoscope
-
Thanks so here it comes from the kaleidoscope project ?
-
Are the projects json s public ?
-
Yes… but need to talk to the ppl associated with the project to get the json
-
And is there a way to check when it has been added in general ?
-
Ok - enjoy your weekend - we’ll talk about it more deeply next week

Any helps with this?
I try to update the description of this asset in Freewallet but it keeps adding a '*' to the front of it: https://xchain.io/asset/VASECTOPEPE.LAFAKA_NOT_SHOOTING_BLANKS -
Just use the name
-
Don't use the A283929WUE738EO3I
-
What latest Bitcoin update means for xcp ? If I understand correctly it removes the limit on op transaction which is exactly what xcp is using , I'm not a dev so don't fully understand the technicality but it sounds like something good for xcp network .. can someone comment on that please ?
-
@CryptoBlaster
-
Where do I find this?
-
In the description put vassectopepe.lafaka_not_shooting_blanks. Instead of the coindaddy generated name
-
Tyty
-
52 character limit on Freewallet for descriptions :(
-
Don't want to rip that seed into counterwallet rn, will move asset later to new seed
-
-
it is destroyed/removed from the supply.... XCP is a deflationary token, the available supply goes down over time as supply is destroyed using certain features (assets, subassets, dividends, sweeps, etc)
-
Hi jdog welcome back, hope Vegas was 🎉. I have an issue occuring - every now and then the 48x48 icon disappears on xchain main pages not asset page. Is there a conflict if I have an icon uploaded to coindaddy and an icon from .Json file? Which takes precedence over the other?
-
if you use a .json file that one should show... if not, then we try to snag the icon you have uploaded to coindaddy... I believe the script for icons runs once every 24 hours.
-
-
Could you please or someone else suggest how to get changed this token’s name:
https://xchain.io/asset/A5776470735071006000 -
Change it in freewallet desktop

But it’s not my own token, I mean who should I contact to change it

Go to issuance and see what address issued the token

-
what about if I want to buy something with XCP on the DEX?
-
using XCP on the DEX is easy... just a fire and forget it style order... place your order, check back later, what you were trying to buy will most likely be in your wallet
-
only using BTC on the DEX is a bit more complex... all other assets, including XCP are much simpler... just place the order and ur done 🙂
-
great, thank you

Hello all. I was wondering if someone could help me. I'm trying to sell some XCP for BTC via counterwallet and my buyers transactions, which there have been many always expire. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Cheers!
-
-
Hi Helene, thanks! So the dispenser shows up the same way for buy orders it's just a different method for the transaction?
-
Interesting. What could one do if support was added?
-
Yes another easier way to do the transaction. You can also find dispensers on xchain.io and just send right amount of bitcoin to it from your counterparty wallet to receive the asset. Make sure to check if there are already pending transactions that may empty dispenser and send with high fee
-
Manage your Counterparty assets directly from your node, make sure that more full nodes store the Counterparty transactions to make them more resistant against future attacks from Core developers that might deem the protocol against the goals of the Bitcoin network
-
not sure core devs ever actually did anything about it, some of them do think so but never did anything about it, it's popular tale they limit op return bc of it but was more about new standardness rule being limited. there was a major opreturn bug before too that scared ppl. xcp also uses multisig and could do scriptsig embeding

Haha I wish 😅
-
Yes it's the anti spam bot... An admin needs to whitelist you
-
1) how many you wish to sell 2) how many being sold per 3) price per number at 2)
-
so basic equals 1) = 1 2) = 1 3) BTC 0.01 = total sold BTC 0.01
-
1) = 10 2) = 1 3) = 0.01 = total sold 0.10
-
Cheers. Thanks! Yes, that's how I added everything. Great. Now how does one connect with buyers? As it's not exchange you just need to offer a good enough price for someone to bite on your dispenser? I tired the Dex exchange and got perpetually expired transactions between the buyer and I

The give amount was somehow not set to 1.0 PEPECASH but to the full amount of 59248 PEPECASH.
The setting for the dispenser should have been: Selling 59248 PEPECASH with 1.0 PEPECASH for 44 Satoshi.

Quick question if there is a double spend on the dispenser (two people purchase the remaining item at the same time) one gets the correct transaction. The other just loses their funds to the seller?
-
Yes
-
-
Oh good so you can reverse the transaction on an unconfirmed. That would suck. I guess there's really no way to avoid it. You would need to be able to know an order was queued before it was part of the block chain and lock those funds for a duration to prevent others for buying too.

Strange, it’s also well past its expiration date, so it should appear closed even if 1 was still available.
-
yeah
-
Hey guys
I am looking at PEPALISA on XCP -
Looking at the issuance tx, I see something in the OP_RETURN
-
I assume it is the encryption of the artwork but I can’t find the user method
-
I tried to encrypt the picture to get the SHA256 but it is not matching
-
It's not. It's just metadata used by XCP.
-
Can we link those metadata to the artwork ?
-
I don't think that's how it works as the artwork can actually change post-issuance.
-
-
Yes that’s the problem for lot of new tokens
-
But in general for rarepepe you can find a proof on chain
-
I mean for lot of old token with recent jpeg
-
I think pepe are using rc4 encryption
-
It's a problem for the tokens. No matter new or old. Quite sure the SOG artwork just recently changed. And they're the OGs.
-
Really? Would love to read more on this if you have any sources
-
Actually xcp is using rc4 encryption I believe
-
I still looking for sources as well!
-
You can find the code on GitHub
-
I would be surprised if that were the case. RC4 is very old/insecure
-
Can’t copy paste link here
-
But will do some research and Come back if I find something
-
-
-
Might I am not using the correct word.
If you know Vogler work for example (2015) you can find the SHA256 of the file on chain -
-
-
I don’t know. I imagine this is the way it works for picture
-
I mean decoding picture is not as easy as decoding text
-
But I am not an expert.
-
-
-
-
-
-
Not for old project. Some use SHA256 encryption
-
On the bitcoin blockchain
-
-
That’s even better tbh. Easy to check
-
And no dependency with imgur
-
No need for S3 or anything like that
-
-
I can show you an example (can’t copy paste you the link here, it’s restricted)
-
You are right it is hashing
-
-
GitHub - loon3/pepechain: Proof of Rare
Proof of Rare. Contribute to loon3/pepechain development by creating an account on GitHub.
-
Very few images are on chain, as it’s way too data intensive
-
Thanks I had a look at that but haven’t found an example so far
-
But all of the rare pepe directory was hashed together and put on chain as a single hash
-
So for example for the nakamoto card, there is nothing on chain to link the artwork and the “token”?
-
With the recent addition of Matt Furie’s FEELSGOOODMAN, the hash will have changed
-
Besides that hash of the directory, not that I’m aware of
-
But the hash is not in the nakamoto issuance tx right ?
-
Nope
-
There were some artists that included a hash in the description, so you’d be able to take the image, hash it and compare the results to know you have the correct image
-
I think mp5 was used, iirc
-
Do you have an example ?
-
And for the nakamoto or série 1 cards, how do you prove it is legit then and that the artwork etc is from the issuance date ?
-
-
Thanks will check now
-
Follow the instructions of pepechain to verify
-
Will check again but it does not proof the artwork is dated from 2016 no?
-
This was done in 2018, so it’s prove it hasn’t changed since then
-
Although, it appears @hodlencoinfield might need to update it still to include the recent addition of card 1000.
-
Alright
-
So if you’re running through this, you’ll need the old image of FEELSGOODMAN, which was just a place holder that said Reserved for Matt Furie
-
I got the md5 has but can’t find it on chain
-
It’s in the metadata of the OP_Return code and produces it in the description of the asset.

You’d need run that through Counterparty’s coding system to get all of the info. I’m not sure off hand where to point you to find that though.
-
Ok i will check that

wayback machine
-
Looking at the xcp link?
-
if its been put on there
-
2020 only
-
I mean the xchain link
-
yeah - but look around it for references then
-
Yeah found one from 2017
-
-
Yes that the one
-
But there must be a link on chain to that!
-
Still try to figure out how to understand the metadata of the op return for pepe cards
-
its a JSON file and that link looks dead
-
-
-
Oct 2nd 2016
-
-
can see the website crawler for the dead one
-
-
-
👍
-
2nd post from the Rare Pepe chat
-
I think it was originally posted in the other Counterparty chat, which I got banned from for some stupid reason
-
But there must be some proof on chain no ?
-
I see some some metadata on the OP_RETURN
-
so must be a link with the card
-
The token is the art
-
Fair enough
-
It was linked to that myrarepepe site
-
What do you mean ? Is there something on chain linked to myrarepepe website?
-
Yeah, the initial description was “
The most rare pepe that has ever existed” -
some block somewhere will have the change of description
-
-
there you go
-
The json was added later in the day
-
-
Yes but how I can find that on chain?
-
thats is it on chain
-
bitcoin doesnt hold images
-
But the link is dead
-
And you can change the json anytime
-
I was expecting the hash of the picture or something like that
-
“Social consensus, man”
-
Yes I am fine with that. But as I heard that some card are hashed on chain I wanted to verify
-
Some may be. I don’t think it was a standard for that series
-
You can certainly include an on-chain hash
-
That what I am looking for !
-
You won’t find it for some (most?) Pepes. I’ve done it with Counterparty assets so definitely possible
-
Yes I know. Just looking for ONE example
-
It seems that CHYNAPEPE is hashed on chain
-
But the mp5 is not on the op_return so it seems there is another step of “decoding” to do
-
What do you mean? It's right in the description so can be viewed on xchain.io
-
This is not onchain
-
Here's how you can do it in Freeport. Its called "anchoring"
-
Yes description is on chain afaik
-
Yes and I guess the hash is in the OP_RETURN
-
That's why you need to make a btc transaction every time you want to edit it
-
I am looking to “decrypt” the btc transaction to find something related to the artwork
-
It might not exist for all cards
-
But it should be there for some
-
not entirely sure, buy you can have a look at my anchored asset and see if its there: https://xchain.io/asset/A11130160322110527014
-
Let me check
-
But I think I will need an xchain dev to help me decoding xchain metadata
-
@hodlencoinfield how does Freeport handle anchoring? In the OP_RETURN?
-
I have checked the OP_RETURN of your asset. It is similar to CHYNAPEPE so might be there but we need to decode how xchain handle metadata
-
no its in a broadcast from the same address as the issuer
-
check broadcasts from the issuance address on xchain and you’ll see them
-
Where I can see that ?
-
I mean there is nothing on the issuer page of CHYNAPEPE
-
I see something for Mike asset. But again cannot decode the OP RETURN

Look at this and (hopefully) all becomes clear: https://counterpartytalk.org/t/dissecting-counterparty-transactions-in-bitcoin/391Dissecting Counterparty Transactions in Bitcoin
In this post in The Newbies thread, Sdouglas asks about where transaction data is stored in Bitcoin transactions today. This is a good topic for understanding so I'm making this thread to try to put what is now only in the code into words. Perhaps we can update the github documentation on the Counterparty protocol spec with this info or create another document there for those who want to see deeper into Counterparty. Where in a Bitcoin transaction the additional Counterparty information is stor...
-
I have already look at that thread ;)
-
Wow I've just found a mention of ARC4 encryption here; https://counterparty.io/docs/protocol_specification/
-
It's used for obfuscation purposes it seems. Not sure why this was decided
-
thats for Freeport specifically
-
no idea what the issuer of CHYNAPEPE did
-
-
You can scroll down to method 2 for the info on chynapepe
-
It’s towards the bottom of the article, but it’s an overall good read from Goat
-
Who can actually change the art of a token? The address that is listed as “issuer” or “owner”?
-
owner
-
mainly is the Owner minted the token - but as you see you can transfer ownership as well
-
cant change something if you dont have those rights

Can we send to a bc1 addy from an old Counterparty wallet?
-
As long as you’re using freewallet desktop you can
-
sweet, it worked, thanks
-
👍

Hi can someone set up an XCP dispenser at a good rate? Looking to buy 400-500xcp
-
-
i often had annoying deposit/withdrawal issues with them (huge random delays) so am trying to stay away
-
will take a look in the coming days :))
-
guys how can we get some volume going on P2PB2B??
-
-
@jdogresorg we see some xchain issues today (unconfirmed tab stays empty) and it seems to cause issues with rarepepewallet... could you have a look please?
-
Servers down again
-
Freewallet not working
-
Rarepepewallet also
-
Ok Tell me what I need to do to make it work ..
-
Please send me guide , I will open another server

So once I run it on server I will be able to make freewallet use it as well ?
-
Nope
-
Freewallet uses xchain apis
-
Picking up my son…. Will like k the servers in an hour or so
-
Should only be one server having issues
-
-
Host 2,3,4 all up n working fine
-
Just host1 having issues
-
Not 100% it seems. Unconfirmed tab stays empty on all 4
-
Would it be feasible to set up some type of alerting so you get notified when this happens? And/or appoint someone to be in charge of monitoring ?
-
Maybe it's possible to customize it , so ppl will be able to run there own server for freewallet ?
-
Is there any solution to this ? Or some kind of plan ?
-
what like Jdog leaving his job to work for counterparty full time ? like that ?
-
In the freewallet can we change the hosting website? Or only on desktop?
-
?
-
I already have an alert system up
-
Xchain codebase is closed source
-
You can customize the xchain server you point to
-
I mean can freewallet work with different api
-
Ok… so u can’t see unconfirmed…. But the servers are up, balances and transactions history load, and u can generate and sign transactions in the wallet fine….. so not a huge deal
-
No…. I wrote it to use xchain apis since they are single url requests and not json api requests
-
What we really need is more ppl writing wallets
-
It is kinda dangerous for one thing though: people can't see unconfirmed transactions on dispensers, so might send btc to dispensers that are being emptied
-
Very good 👍

FYI.. http://platform.counterparty.io/ here is the monitoring platform that monitors the servers for uptime
-
scroll up
-
already said it is just ONE server that is having issues
-
-
host 2, 3, 4 are all up to date
-
cool
-
-
-
-
-
monitors in detail... if communication with the API goes down, I get a text
-
-
-
xchain.io is load-balanced across 4 servers
-
-
you can update your settings to use any of the individual servers if you want... tho xchain.io is best
-
please scroll up and read
-
3rd time addressing this isuse for ONE server being down
-
-
xchain.io is working fine.... your bound to the individual server that is a few hours behind... use host2,host3, or host4
-
its coming back up now... prolly 20-30 more minutes
-
you can change apihost to host2.xchain.io.. or host3.. or host 4 and be fine
-
or just wait a few minutes
-
-
-
-
no worries, sorry one of the servers is having a hiccup... happens occasionally
-
-
-
scammers gonna scam unfortunately
-
Perhaps a pinned message on this group could help clarify the current status to all and keep you from having to answer to everyone individually ? 🤓
-
a pinned message for a couple hours of downtime doesn't make much sense
-
ppl can just read history rather than asking their questions again and again 😛
-
host1 is now back up and fully synced
-
Excellent! Thx

depends on the fee of the bitcoin transaction
-
I sent 1 to coinbase took 5 hours to confirm
-

This one uses a SHA256 hash embedded in its on-chain description (within the URL): https://xchain.io/asset/KANDINSKY - I think a relatively simple way to read it straight from the blockchain would be by querying the counterparty API (get_issuance)
-
CZ 🔶 Binance
What to list?
-
done :v
-
hmmm did someone misconfigure with a dispenser setup? If yours please DM with a signed message
-
Which one?
-
Thanks for that. Will check . When you say embedded, you mean I can find the hash in op_return or I need to decode first xcp metadata?
-
It needs to be decoded - on a windows machine you could try the following XCP API command to query the blockchain: curl -X POST http://api.counterparty.io:4000/api/ --user rpc:rpc --data-binary "{ \"method\": \"get_issuances\", \"params\": { \"filters\": [ {\"field\": \"asset\", \"op\": \"=\", \"value\": \"KANDINSKY\" } ] } , \"jsonrpc\": \"2.0\", \"id\": 0 }"
-
Has anyone tried to compare the MD5 hashes for CHYNAPEPE? I tried and they don't match. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong...
-
-
I just tried it out and got the same result
-
Strange. Where did you get the image file from? I got mine here: http://rarepepedirectory.com/?p=653
-
I just tried the copy on xchain too. I keep getting 1035e0ff0f86b2f6ebcb245a347544a1
-
LOL it looks like onlinemd5.com is buggy as hell! And funnily enough, that's the tool the CHYNAPEPE owner used... Using literally *any* other tool results in 1035e0ff0f86b2f6ebcb245a347544a1
-
Just gotta peak through the code and see what’s actually being hashed
