Not sure if i'll be updating to 11.0 if I dont get an answer on why there are already differences between 10.10.1 and 11.0 when no protocol changes have been activated.... upgrading would just download a bootstrap with the questionable txs marked as valid..... Until the reasoning behind why a single tx is being seen differently on 10.10 and 11.0 is answered, I can't trust that 11.0 is doing things correctly... and therefore most likely will not be updating.

I would like to stay on the latest version of Counterparty, but if I can not get answers from the lead developers explaining why there are txs that are VALID on the new version and INVALID on the old version... tough for me to want to force users to the latest version.... its a total shit show the state of counterparty now.... I'd expect at least some level of integrity and explanation of what is going on from the core devs, but as of yet, all I get is blocked and ignored.... same as other community members like JP... anyone who speaks out or asks questions of Adam and his motivations is ridiculed and ignored

Still got 3 weeks or so before the protocol change in 11.0 goes into effect.... I would encourage community members who use freewallet or tokenscan.io to ask Adam directly to reply to the questions about the discrepancies... the last thing the community needs is another fork... or users being forced to use horizon explorer and wallet which consistently go down and do not have all the features of Counterparty supported.

no guessing... honestly wondering how Horizon market or counterparty-core 11.0 takes data from a transaction which decodes to a numeric issuance, and translates that into some NAMED asset... I have many questions... hoping it is just a UI mistake on horizon, which would make me more comfortable that counterparty-core 11.0 is fine.... but, until I am able to hear an explanation, it is very confusing how a single tx which has data encoded in it can be interpreted entirely differently between 2 versions of counterparty with no protocol change.... just looking to understand.

The Unspendable Labs API is correctly reporting that issuance as invalid. We think it's a UI issue that's causing it to be labeled as valid in Horizon. We're looking into it now.

Initial investigation shows that it's something weird about how asset "resets" are handled. (The implementation is terrible. :/)

Also, it’s worth mentioning that Joe Looney still refuses to open source his wallet after many years….. which is strange behavior considering the Bitcoin mantra don’t trust verify… this topic has been brought up to him many times, and he always falls back to the same silly argument that users can tear apart his wallet and verify things in the browser if they wanna verify code…. Which is a silly argument, and if you truly wanted to do something for the community rather than run, his closed source wallet from many years ago he would open source his wallet so that other users could review his code and find any issues…..
I personally have reviewed his code and have found a number of issues which could lead to loss of funds, however I have not exploited these holes nor let anyone know about them, and simply have requested again and again that he opened source his wallet if he expects people to use it…… Justin the same way that wallet has been open sourced since the very beginning and counter wallet has been opened sourced from the very beginning…. Hell even horizon wallet is open source…. Yet Joe’s wallet continues to remain closed source🤷🏻♂️ -

correct... and this is generallly why I am against it... snapshotting asset names and ownership preserves the asset names and allows asset owners who want to use the platform, or migrate their token to xchain to do so.... snapshotting all balances essentially duplicates the balances (similar to how cp classic did) and dilites the value and causes confusion.... Ideally I want to reserve the asset names for existing owners, and allow each asset owner to decide if they want to "migrate" the token to xchain platform.... migration would consist of simply issuing some supply to the token, dumping a list of holders, and sending an equal amount of the token on XCHAIN to the same addresses... at that point, the token and supply would exist on both Counterparty and XCHain platform.... and the asset owner/project could announce they are moving to xchain.... or could setup some sort of "proove you have burned the token on Counterparty and you get sent your XChain token" style thing..... once I get the xchain platform finished i'll spend some time writing some easy to understand migration tools and guidelines 🙂

I want users to have the option to use the platform that they want to, and not add any more confusion to things, or to devalue existing tokens by duplicating all balances.... at least, that is my view now.... tho starting to come around to a balance snapshot as well.... still thinking on it

The idea behind classic was to maintain a community driven version of counterparty with features that the community agreed on, and to maintain a version of counterparty, which has the lineage that goes all the way back to the first projects… including all the CIPs and community contributions.
Perhaps at some point in the future classic will have its day, but for right now it’s just kind of a love letter to what counterparty was before it was taken over n centralized🤷🏻♂️ -

No, time spent working on classic is time not spent working on Xchain platform, which is far superior as it has more features than counterparty by a longshot, as well as as works on multiple block chains and has support for cross chain swaps and functionality….. no plans to do anything with classic right now… counterparty is a 10 year-old dinosaur without much new innovation beyond copying what others have already done…. My focus is on building brand new stuff that’s never been done before.

I also thought that reciprocal tarrifs on banners would encourage a better environment moving forward but seems that the people claiming decentralisation and openness to debate on protocol changes would rather hide away in cp 2.0 chat and ban people that highlight issues, or state facts such as the lack of openness to the community about protocol changes etc.

It appears to me that if the current maintainers want to shut out heavy users from the community, then they are no doubt starting their own separate franchise and social group.

yeah... Adam will do whatever it takes to get control, and once he has control, he does what he wants.... when I Robby agreed to make him repo owner, Robby got certain assurances from Adam that he would not delete or break fednode... which once he was in control, he prompty did (renamed counterparty-lib to counterparty-core breaking fednode, and archived fednode)... Also Adam was happy to say that JP and Joe Looney supported his decisions and path forward... since they were also core devs who were added by myself to help with testing changes and doing ACK or NACK on changes... but as soon as adam got control of the repo, he hid any info on who has commit access, who is involved in the project on any official level, etc.... Pretty quickly he turned on me for objecting to him making changes to / breaking dispensers and origin functionality... and now he has turned on JP for raising valid concerns.... It is truly a sad turn of events... Also, Joe looney rolls his own transactions in rarepepewallet, so he is accutely aware that changing the issunce format like Adam is doing in v11 is bad practice, and that instead they should just add a new message id for the new issuance format.... However, Joe is not objecting or raising any concerns about this.... instead he is fine being quiet and thanking adam for "3 weeks" until activation of the protocol change to allow him to update his wallet to roll out transactions.

Hate to keep waking up and talking negatively on counterparty... but it seems clear that they are on a different path than the majority of the community.... @jp_janssen what are your thoughts on tokenscan.io and FreeWallet staying on 10.10.1? If it stays, it would create yet another fork, and the majority of users who use freewallet would continue using 10.10.1.... and not v11... the only ppl using v11 would be Horizon and people who use the api.counterparty.io public APIs..... is this worth considering or should we just keep marching along to adam's beat and stay on v11? Curious on your thoughts.... I am outraged by how your being treated and how the community has no voice in development... but not sure if another fork, or keeping people on v10.10.1 is worth the risk to users who could lose funds or have issuances show up differently on v10.10.1 vs v11

I think just Joe Looney... and even Joe looney now says that the best thing to do is to keep reverse compatability for the issuance format change which is being forced.... just sucks that only after others get to the boiling point and force discussion does Joe speak up on this issue

Probably because to him community is simply a word…. He wasn’t around for the 10 years to see how we all struggled and grew closer and went through difficult times, but how we all stuck together and continue to build on something we love…. Even when there was disagreements like between myself and Juan or myself and Duncan, there were still very little censorship and banning and kicking, and the toxic type of behavior that we see now.
There’s a reason why I continue to be so upset by what has happened to counterparty…. And a reason why it matters absolutely nothing to some others…
The community is everything to some of us …. And to others, it is simply a word to be used and wielded like a weapon for their own purposes🤷🏻♂️ -
I’m no Oracle and I can’t say for sure what will happen in the future…. I just know what it took to hold counterparty together and try to keep everyone on the same page and maintain a sense of community over the 10 years I was involved…. And it became very clear to me very quickly that Adam did not hold any of the same values that I did and that the community would support him in the short term as I did initially…. But that longer term it was going to be a train wreck.😢

Too bad the current lead developer is so far advanced above everyone else that he does not need to explain anything (that he has done or will do) to anyone for any reason. Since, in this space there is no authority, or he has it all or something.
So I have to assume that if anyone brings up, in the walled garden, the claim/question of telemetry incorporated into the latest version then they will be silenced instead of receiving an wholesome, honest and respectful answer. -
Adam and co implemented telemetry. It is on by default and tmk it is only able to be turned off with a manual install or manually changing a config file. Also the wording to disable telemetry is non-intuitive, meaning unclear or ambiguous. Telemetry not good imo. Funny story, the telemetry had an error and ate up a big chunk of their development budget by logging data too often.

I changed it to 1 but I still get that warning.
In all fairness also bitcoin checks for updates. As long as there's no possibility to remotely manipulate/kill my node im not too concerned about this. -

Early on, just before his official return, I was chatting with Adam. When he created his splinter group he admined me without my request and I ran with it. Two months ago I reached out to him to have a call and get on the same page with marketing the whole protocol.
He basically refused. Told me I was unqualified. Removed my adminship in his room and willingly burnt our bridge -

We have so many better options in the 10 years since for getting common users and passionate community members involved (and don't scare them off with GitHub only) and so many more prominent figures and historical artist on social media I don't get why it isn't utilized in a community driven and organized fashion on at least some level

Kind of reminds me of when Adam praised Juan and added him to the counterparty github repo with full commit access….. then a few weeks later, said Juan had never made any commits to counterparty and removed him from the github repo with no discussion…..
Imagine if someone sat back and took the time to observe the community and learn personalities before making snap judgments and installing people as repository maintainers and moderators only to then reverse course a few days or weeks later….
Kind of smacks of what I was talking about earlier…. As long as you support Adam and what he is doing he’s happy to appoint people to positions of power without doing any type of research or knowing any of the history….. but as soon as you speak out or disagree with him in anyway, you lose your powers and are kicked, banned, and muted from anything that he has control over🤷🏻♂️😜

I think Kane was doing a good job of speaking his mind and letting Adam know that the community is much bigger than a single developers opinion and that when the elephants fight the grass gets trampled, and Kane is a member of the community and the grass that was getting trampled….
He was put in a very difficult position, trying to move a project forward on counterparty and build something long-term when the literal ground is moving beneath his feet …. I’m glad he was able to finally release his ides of March project…. It’s just too bad he had to rework so much of what he was working on to make it work with ordinal instead of counterparty….. but I completely understand his hesitation to build anything on a constantly shifting foundation.
What he did manage to build using ordinals was pretty incredible… unique music ordinals hidden audio tracks, a built-in mixer, a playable virtual universe with hidden Easter eggs…. Kane def pushing the limits of what is possible with this projects❤️
