The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 270 satoshis/byte, shown in green at the top.
For the median transaction size of 226 bytes, this results in a fee of 61,020 satoshis
  • @Sipher #7696 04:51 PM, 29 Oct 2017
based on the size of the tx..fee should have been roughly 0.00117040 for fastests

  • @Unch4ined #7702 04:53 PM, 29 Oct 2017
As it does not take this into account right?
  • @Sipher #7703 04:54 PM, 29 Oct 2017
memo eliminates part of the process for a service provider

he may consult on a project using Counterparty, but I have no knowledge of this.
  • @292440577 #7721 01:07 PM, 30 Oct 2017
I didnt respond to the tweet but it was an encouragement of the use of the protocol I assume :) we try to be aware of as many projects as we can. It'd be great if this guy is involved with one but he isnt involved with counterparty.io
  • @ShawnLeary #7722 01:10 PM, 30 Oct 2017
But decentralized markets are the next logical step in this, Counterparty has been leading for sometime with EtherDelta recently stealing the lime light with the Ethereum money making machine.

Guys, i have a "stuck" transaction, for 2 days now, anything i can do to help it, i tried sending with lowest fee (as it worked fine before) so now it looks like it is "hanging".
  • @Unch4ined #7728 08:06 AM, 31 Oct 2017
I also just tried to send a new tranaction from my counterparty walet with memo, but it would not calulate the fee (just hangs) and also got some strange error message.
  • @Unch4ined #7729 08:07 AM, 31 Oct 2017
transaction fee does not calculate. Unable to send transaction.
  • @Unch4ined #7730 08:08 AM, 31 Oct 2017
i was hoping if i sent a transaction with much higher fee, it would "Bump" the older "stuck" one also ?
  • @104473096 #7731 10:23 AM, 31 Oct 2017
You're probably sending the memo as hex, you gotta send it as text
  • @Unch4ined #7732 10:38 AM, 31 Oct 2017
Aah. I will try, thank you
  • @Unch4ined #7733 10:46 AM, 31 Oct 2017
Yeah, no problems when sending this time, has the memo feature been updated by any chance or is the fee varible?
  • @Unch4ined #7734 10:47 AM, 31 Oct 2017
Lowest memo fee the other day was 2 Cents. Today $1.74. Wondering if there was a "update" that set a reasonable minimum fee (which i think is a really good idea)
  • @jdogresorg ↶ Reply to #7728 #7735 02:09 PM, 31 Oct 2017
try freewallet... it lets you specify a custom fee.
  • @jdogresorg ↶ Reply to #7734 #7736 02:11 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Fees are constantly changing based on the amount of traffic/pending transactions on the bitcoin network..... When less ppl want to use the network, you can get fees in for pennies.... When more ppl want to use the network, your fees go up...... You can still pay pennies for a TX, but it won't get processed for a while if the network is busy..... Point is, if you need a transaction to be processed immediately/fast... pay a higher fee reguardless of if it is $1 or $100..... if your transaction doesn't have to take place immediately, then you can pay a few cents for the transaction and just wait a bit.
  • I was sending my memo as a sext.
  • @346238252 #7738 05:21 PM, 31 Oct 2017
When you say just wait a bit..how long is that?
  • @jdogresorg #7739 06:25 PM, 31 Oct 2017
until the mempool emptys out enough that your transaction gets processed.
  • @jdogresorg #7740 06:25 PM, 31 Oct 2017
If 1000 people are paying $10 for their transactions to get into blocks... your not going to have much success paying $0.02 and getting it included right away.... but, if you wait a bit, i'll get into a block most times 🙂
  • @Unch4ined #7743 06:59 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Hi J dog, thank you, that's great, I have much better understanding now, thanks for that, also both transactions came through today
  • @Unch4ined #7744 07:01 PM, 31 Oct 2017
I'm a little wary of wallets on desktops, bit the free wallet works like any, you can remove the wallet.dat file and keep a back up? In case say my laptop was stolen of something?
  • @Unch4ined #7745 07:01 PM, 31 Oct 2017
So,.mempool is a place that shows you how many transactions are backed up?
  • @Unch4ined #7746 07:02 PM, 31 Oct 2017
And on avg there are about (enter number here) transactions per day?
  • @Unch4ined #7747 07:03 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Thanks for link, nice graphs, clear to see on the 29th things got super hectic/busy.
  • @Unch4ined #7748 07:04 PM, 31 Oct 2017
So, in future I can check there first to give me an idea of why there might be a delay with transactions.
  • @jdogresorg ↶ Reply to #7744 #7749 07:16 PM, 31 Oct 2017
You SHOULD be wary of all wallets... so no offense taken by being wary of Freewallet.io..... the desktop version allows you to enter your 12-word passphrase, it is then encrypted and stored on your computer... there is no wallet files for anyone to attack/download... the only time your wallet would be at risk is when it is unlocked (as the private keys / HD seed would be in memory)... so, pretty secure 🙂
  • @Unch4ined #7750 07:17 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Fantastic, great to hear. Yeah I was not in any way worried about freewallet, I know that's 100% trusted.
  • @jdogresorg ↶ Reply to #7745 #7751 07:17 PM, 31 Oct 2017
You can just check the network information on xchain.io.... unconfirmed... first number is # of bitcoin transactions pending... sencond number is # of CP transactions pending
  • @Unch4ined #7753 07:18 PM, 31 Oct 2017
I meant, in general, but with this type of wallet, say my computer "went missing" I could easily recover wallet on any other computer.
  • @Unch4ined #7754 07:19 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Wow it says $10 a low fee?
  • @Unch4ined #7755 07:19 PM, 31 Oct 2017
    On avg?
  • @jdogresorg #7756 07:19 PM, 31 Oct 2017
As long as you have the 12-word passphrase, your good to go... you can login to counterwallet, indiesquare wallet, freewallet, etc etc
  • @jdogresorg #7757 07:19 PM, 31 Oct 2017
that is per k.. kilobyte.. so 1000 bytes
  • @Unch4ined #7758 07:19 PM, 31 Oct 2017
    Great.
  • @Unch4ined #7759 07:19 PM, 31 Oct 2017
    Ooh per kb
  • @jdogresorg #7760 07:19 PM, 31 Oct 2017
a typical CP send is around 250 bytes... so 1/4 the cost
  • @Unch4ined #7761 07:20 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Great I was just about to ask that 😁

I like to also be able to help other people like me.
  • @jdogresorg #7767 07:21 PM, 31 Oct 2017
"optimum" fee is 75% chance of getting it next block

    Still a good percentage.
  • @jdogresorg #7769 07:21 PM, 31 Oct 2017
so... you can obviously pay way way lower... like $0.01... and then just wait a few hours/days 🙂
  • @Unch4ined #7770 07:22 PM, 31 Oct 2017
My other fee was two cents, even with big spike, it did arrive just under 48hrs
  • @Unch4ined #7771 07:22 PM, 31 Oct 2017
    Perfect.
  • @jdogresorg #7772 07:22 PM, 31 Oct 2017
I need to rework the fees on xchain.... but not high priority right now... working on the exchange interface for freewallet and the xchain.io APIs that are needed to support it 🙂
  • @Unch4ined #7773 07:22 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Thanks Jdog. I love it when people can explain things clearly. Really great. Big thanks. 👍

  • @jdogresorg #7777 07:23 PM, 31 Oct 2017
yes.... download freewallet.io desktop... and click the 'Exchange' tab 🙂
  • @jdogresorg #7779 07:24 PM, 31 Oct 2017
building a dex interface very similar to poloniex's trading interface.... and will have support for auto-signing BTC orders on the dex when orders match.... which will make using BTC on the DEX much easier.
  • @Unch4ined #7780 07:24 PM, 31 Oct 2017
Wow, then the only thing I'd want to suggest and would make the life of many people easier and get a lot more users to the wallet, the prices in Satoshi BTC also please.
  • @jdogresorg #7782 07:25 PM, 31 Oct 2017
yeah, all that extra bells and whistles (language, themes, local currency, denomination, etc) will be added after I get the main stuff done
  • @Unch4ined #7783 07:25 PM, 31 Oct 2017
