zzz, yeah dont fix market inefficiencies because of incompetence pretty much full circle
-
at this point its just annoying seeing the current valuation with incentive or not
-
and the treatment is pretty much consistent without any reason other than profit seeking

of all the possible non-securities coinbase could have listed they didnt list XCP
-
which actually fills the requirements for an internationally recognized currency due to the X prefix for the token
-
-
besides the point, but sure maybe so
-
probably should trade at fair value in the correct places first though
-
in terms of proper design as a currency the only competitor coinbase has listed with the proper prefix, I think, is XRP

To tokenize equity and remove trusted third parties from equity markets, and do it on top of BTC

Dex is where u can trade 2 assets, decentralised, no middleman, like uniswap where u can trade eth for a shitcoin, u can make buy/sell orders in freewallet for any 2 countetparty assets on the dex, you can use btc but is advised not to as doesn't always work, think both users have to be online with wallet open for btc in dex to be successful
-
So the dex is like and advanced wallet ?
Can send / receive
Put up offer to buy / sell assets within the ecosystem
And tracked with data made accessible for developers ? -
The DEX works with BTC... but you need to leave a wallet open to listen for any order matches and send BTC before the order matches expire.... Freewallet has this feature called Auto-BTCpay which does that... but, using XCP on dex gives a much better experience... can just fire-n-forget orders n get offline 🙂
-
With uniswap it just matches buy/sell orders instantly
Here you use a fee to create sell order, the buyer also uses a fee, the dex Completes the trade, if 2 buy atsame time with only 1 asset available, you don't lose the funds, it simply generates another buy order, which can be filled or cancelled -
Nice I didn’t know this
-
-
-
Appreciate the walkthrough all
Just trying to make make sure I understand the things I’ve been using for ages in some capacity -
"shitcoin"
-
Have you viewed the exchange tab in freewallet?
-
yes. and used as well
it's the 'what is this' that was less clear.
wallet functions are pretty straightforward. 'dex' is less obvious beyond sendind orders into the void (for the non-technical users) -
This is in the protocol. Xchain explores/displays the data
Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't theDex created by overstock.com/owner as they/he used to be big players in CounterParty? -

For the past week or so counterwallet has been down because counterblock (counterwallets backend) has been choking on parsing blocks.
There is a problem introduced with the dispensers close delay. Everything works correctly in counterparty-lib except for the block_index in the message bindings. Instead of inserting the block_index of the actual closure, the block_index of the original tx that marked the dispenser to be close is used. This is generating a non-correlated block_index in the messages table, so now it cannot be assumed that greater the messsage_index equal or greater is the block_index.
Javier and I spent the past week looking into the counterblock parsing issue and trying out potential fixes to get counterblock parsing again without the need for an update to counterparty-lib. However, we have come to the conclusion that in order to get counterblock parsing again, the simplest solutions are to make updates to counterparty-lib.
Neither Javier or I feel this issue rises to the level required for us to do an immediate hotfix release without community/dev feedback (ie. not an emergency).
We have put together 3 PRs and present 2 potential solutions.
Solution #1
- Update counterparty-lib to correct block_index correlation (messages ledger will change)
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/pull/1293
Solution #2
- Update counterparty-lib get_blocks function to work with non-correlated block_index
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/pull/1292
- Update counterblock to handle the dispenser close delay.

Hi I have an issue with one of my dispensers, paid for closing it and it just dispensed tokens to main addy instead, here is the tx https://xchain.io/tx/fbb151a6c0c4c15b8767249beca1451c9893408c91795b633290e7fe23f527ab
Any idea what happened here? -
Just eyeballing it, I'm guessing coingecko XCP price is like 98% based on DEX-trade.
-
that doesn't look like a close dispenser tx to me.... close dispenser txs are very small, fit in OP_RETURN, and only contain 2 outputs... one output for OP_RETURN and one output for change... your tx doesn't have any OP_RETURN data, and has 3 outputs.... so yeah, dont think this is a dispenser close tx.
-
Well I made single payment and this is what is going on now

-
And I’m getting random number of stamps back to my addy
-
This looks normal to me... I see a dispenser being setup, a payment to the dispenser, and a normal dispense crediting the address which sent the BTC.... again, all looks normal... nothing out of the ordinary here... if your saying your having an issue with closing a dispenser... perhaps try opening a new dispener (on an empty/new address) and then close it... but from what I am seeing, this all looks normal
-
there is a 5 block close delay on dispensers in the latest release... so, maybe your expecting the dispenser to close immediately... it now delays the close 5 blocks
-
I see now tokens back in dispenser addy, but I see my mistake now too lol, sorry I’ve been up for almost 72 hours and only closed like two dispensers before
-
All good

Happy Xmas ❤️

Import your 12 words into exodus desktop wallet. From there you have better control of the fees
-
You will want to make a send tx with your own address as the receiver (you’re sending BTC to yourself) click on “pay” and then you will be presented with the tx fee box. You can change from custom to eta to mempool. You want to pump up the fee to 2x 3x whatever your stuck tx fee was and then send it.
-
This is because the mempool sees all your transactions as one which gives them all an “effective fee” which you can see by plugging in one of your transactions in to mempool.space. The more unconfirmed txs you have, the lower your effective fee (which is bad).

What's up everybody
I very rarely shill my work and definitely not in this chat so I hope you don't mind
I made an album on Counterparty.
Not just ON bitcoin but with the sound of the blockchain infused in it.
The first 50 blocks Satoshi sent to Hal Finney converted into audio and sampled creating BTC infused music.
And its pretty fucking good (imo)
You can listen to it for free right on xchain, or even download from the info data and have the player on your phone.
1. It's a Fake Rare (S16 C44)
2. There is an unlockable version through Joe Looney's Rare Pepe wallet
3. It's the beginning (S1 C1) of a new collection on XCP called Bitcoin Audio. Green banner coming soon. Hopefully a new home for music on btc.
4. Vinyl coming soon but this will never go to DSP's. It is made of a d FOR sound money. So this is where it lives.
There are other cool things too... Jamie Dimon in a police uniform, Charlie Munger clips, money printer in the intro.. etc
I'm not too cool to ask... please listen to my album.

Hi folks
I am an xcp holder for a while but havent been active on the crypto scene. Noticed the price movement of late. Any particular reason for this? Thanks -
Increased demand + xcp supply drying up =>

Hi fam!
The above is a long-term chart of XCP priced in BTC (from which XCP was created). -
-
XCP/BTC historical high price: 0.022 BTC
Current price: 0.00012
Current price vs. high: -99.5%
If XCP/BTC price doubles, decline from high = -98.9%
If XCP/BTC price goes 5X from here, decline from high = -97.3%
If XCP/BTC price goes 10X from here, decline from high = -94.5%
If XCP/BTC price goes 20X from here, decline from high = -89.1%
From a historical perspective vs. BTC, the price of XCP is insanely low, and even if it goes up many multiples, it will still be VERY low vs. historic XCP/BTC high.
People who are serious about owning a meaningful amount of XCP might want to consider forgetting small fluctuations of price and focus more on how they can gather a meaningful amount of XCP. -
Given that the XCP/BTC price is down -99.5% from it's high, it's fair to assume that sellers are not motivated. There are only so many coins under the sofa cushions.
But if buyers pick up the small amount available at current prices and nudge the price up a bit, more sellers will appear.
Repeat the process several times, and although the XCP/BTC price will have moved up somewhat, it will still be at a very low market cap, and the buyers who wanted to own a nice chunk will probably have reasonably big bags.
That's a win-win outcome IMHO. -
Problem with XCP is promotion and some BD work with exchange
-
is the fee on mempool higher than what was sent to close it ?

BD?

Business development? (guessing)

Hi i’m doing my first multi-send on CP. Do I need to have a space after each comma? e.g. Address, Asset, Quantity or no space: Address,Asset,Quantity

Decentralized/Defi stuff definitely sounds like a better prospect.

the ATH was when Bitcoin was getting forked to bitcoin cash. Scammers were going around Facebook and other places telling counterparty users that after the fork they would have twice the tokens as before. It was an orchestrated pump and dump based out of taking advantage of the ignorant.
Take from ETH example, the fitness of a token is not and should not be measured in USD.
Price would be an after effect of a quality service. Pumping the price is not good for anyone but the would be dumpers who are only interested in return in USD, so they are not actually involved with crypto, just squatting/larping -
Even if we leave out the ATM, XCP/BTC is still at a very low level.
I hadn't heard about the Bitcoin cash fork scam angle. That's a funny one!!! -

BD is more about pricing ,value exchange ,network building that's what Counterparty truly need right now ...$XCP sounds like grandpa of $ordi for me... it has potential more valuable than $ordi... if rate of XCP reach 1000 usdt/xcp ... Then most of the headache of counterparty could be solved
-
Really sad to hear someone said BD like that...it seems you have little knowledge about business ...no offense.just hope counterparty and cp family members all the best in the year 2024 ... Hopefully we get XCP listed on a tier-1 exchange at least
-
do you need that token to use them? i feel red flag whenever I see "utility" tokens that will never be as decentralized as bitcoin
-
It seems I am blocked to say something in this channel
-
-
should be fixed now... .will dig into why this happens occasionally when I have some time.
-
Why do you assume the price of xcp has any relation to solving counterparty “headaches”?
-
Is this trickle-down economics?
-
What are these headaches? Are they protocol-level? Are they tooling related? Is the assumption that if price goes up there will be an avalanche of donations for devs? Is the assumption that devs are bag-holders and they would want to work for free because of their new found wealth?
-
If donations are the answer, make one now! Why wait?
-
I kind of think those who assume others will naturally donate because they’ve come into profit, probably aren’t donating themselves.
-
people would use the dex
-
liquidity could function easier
-
its pretty simple

sorry to disrupt your trolling

Why?
