One positive I see is how far we've come as a group as a project. At times this project is an open source project that cannot motivate actors accordingly for marketing purposes for example I've Been Told. Yet at other times major facets of this community project are not open source. Oh so we're here we have a paradox of it being open source but much of the stuff that makes it happen is not. When I think of an open source project I think it would be easy for someone to come to Market and participate in an effective way like modifying an open source shopping cart to accept their own tokens alongside Bitcoin.
In some ways the very barrier to entry in The decentralized Exchange represents greater Stigmata this group is placed upon Itself by trying to exist privately and publicly concurrently.

can xcp just switch to layer over BCH? would that help the fee issue?

I'm actually out of XCP now, but I liked the idea of it. But it's too bad XCP had to inherit the issues that BTC had.

A "fork" (moving everything) has been ruled out by everyone with the highest levels of technical knowledge.

A "port" (deploying Counterparty onto a new blockchain) is being pursued by at least one enterprise and has nothing to do with existing asset owners, if it's done as a clean fresh start on a new chain.
  • @rarepepetrader #13308 06:27 AM, 31 Dec 2017
counterparty assets are already latently embedded on every Bitcoin fork
  • @rarepepetrader #13309 06:29 AM, 31 Dec 2017
if someone chose to spin up modified CounterpartyCash servers (for want of better name) on BCash, as I understand it, all assets as of the August 1st snapshot data could potentially be reconstructed. I have no idea if same wallet seeds and addresses work or not.

But nobody is talking about doing that.
  • @rarepepetrader #13310 06:30 AM, 31 Dec 2017
@jsmith_dev is talking about porting counterparty protocol (sans all existing assets other than his own I would presume) to BitcoinCash as he believes it's the real Bitcoin (true to Satoshi's original vision) and would provide the necessary low fee environment to make transactions cheap and markets liquid. Most Counterparty people disagree with his assessment, but he's completely free to pursue it and if it makes commercial sense for his enterprise to do it, so be it.

@jsmith_dev the question from @aris329 goes to the cloning of existing assets, which is quite a different question than just porting the codebase.

AFAIK you've said nothing about trying to copy / clone anyone else's assets, so there's really nothing to debate here is there?

  • @rarepepetrader #13325 07:38 AM, 31 Dec 2017
most people involved to a significant degree in counterparty who have expressed a view here in the last 48 hours have indicated no belief in the feasibility or viability of porting all assets / ownerships / statuses en-masse to a new chain...

I've thought it through at some length and cannot see a way to make that work that satisifies all community, social, technical and commercial concerns.

@jsmith_dev on the other hand, from what I can see, porting the code base and instantiating a new counterparty clean slate on BCC is achievable and I understand that would meet your commercial requirements?

Im sueing. That's why i copyrighted all my creations and bought up as many as i could. I knew the future would bring this upon us. Greed is universal. Copyright, digital rights and much more are here at stake. Im sure eversoft will sue as well.

You see, many didn't like my aggressive approach nor understood my behavior when i joined rare pepe community. Like some, i saw the bigger picture and i valued art and creativity. I tried to hint at other creators about their rights, but many didn't listen. Heck, they were too caught up in the fun and excitement.

Come on @rarepepenewsdotcom, its a copy and a clone. That's what bitcointrash is.
  • @KEKRELOADED #13338 08:09 AM, 31 Dec 2017
@jsmith_dev Why dont you just start from scratch. Burn the trash, use the same technology and go from there. Copying/cloning is a bad idea. The year of the forks is almost over. Lol.

In order to scale, you need a way in. The only way in is a backdoor. That's in plain sight. How else do you think they can go in and make blocks bigger? There is truly a backdoor. Also transactions are not anonymous like bitcoin tx are. Bitcointrash is all about forced control. Its not about bigger block size. That's the bullshit they selling so people accept their lies. Bitcointrash is the biggest scam con in crypto history and many are falling for it. Im still moving pepes with low fees. I only use high fees when i see the need to.

just some parts of a convo about Lightning Network
  • @FloridaBitcoiner #13414 07:32 PM, 31 Dec 2017
If anyone wants to help test the Lightning Network or just to play with it to see how instant low-fee payments work on it without having to hit the blockchain for each payment, you can start by getting a testnet Lightning Network wallet from htlc.me or the Android eclair wallet.
  • @FloridaBitcoiner #13415 07:32 PM, 31 Dec 2017
Then load up with coins from a testnet faucet and buy silly jokes, short articles etc from yalls.org or "coffees" from starblocks.acinq.co ⚡️
  • @FloridaBitcoiner #13416 07:32 PM, 31 Dec 2017
Almost every project will soon adopt lightning network and cryptography would be more reliable.. Boom👌👌
  • @FloridaBitcoiner #13417 07:33 PM, 31 Dec 2017
It’s going to have an effect on fees even if they don’t use Lightning
  • @KEKRELOADED #13418 10:16 PM, 31 Dec 2017
What's this lightning network? How much are fees going to be? Isnt that what 95% of the crypto created after bitcoin supposed to be; faster, cheaper fees, blah blah blah
