Things seem to be progressing nicely without any foundation... so, gonna stick with taht for a while until there is a good reason to do another foundation election.... right now we just need funding for dev/improvments, which we can accomplish with CIPS and BLACKBOX fundraises.... also, I wont be pushing any contentious changes into the protocol, so no real need for a governing body at this point... but as always, this is a community driven project, so if the community wants things to change and elect another foundation, i'm open to it... but at this point, I think we are good as is.... lots more support and projects coming to CP in the past few months than in years

Yeah this stuff here is the first time I’m excited again since 2017 - I didn’t know CP back then now came trough pepes. Everything which was built in the last years with idiot-webinterfaces and fees is available here with proper wallets and on Bitcoin chain. I’m very disappointed about the greedy ness of the space with pointless Ethereum knockoffs everywhere. CP and Freewalllet has a very simple UX to issue a token. No fees, proper DEX. Unbelievable.

XCP is the utility token of the coin and is used to register assets... if we should be drawing attention to anything, it is XCP... the NFTs on CP are cool, and are definitely driving up some demand for XCP.... we can add more stuff to draw attention to the NFTs, but XCP needs to stay listed in CMC and coingecko and on exchanges in order to pop up on anyones radard..... we sat without exchange listings for 5+ years... we know how that goes... all this increased activity and price increase and suchs is primarily because we are on exchanges now, and the NFTs on BTC are getting lots of attention... not sure that would be the case if there wasnt centralized exchanges to get XCP from (for normies)

we don't "need" exchanges to operate... dispensers and using BTC on the dex is fine, we can do everything we need to with those... but from a drawing in new people and getting new eyes perspective, most normies rely on marketcap and daily volume to determine a projects worth (sad, but true).... we have not been on any exchangs of note and had almost no volume the past few years, and during that time not many new users/developers/etc.... not a huge fan of centralized exchanges, but they do serve a purpose... for now

Don’t sweep in counterwallet as it is an old sweep style that moves things one by one… use freewallet to sweep, and yes you need btc in source address… just like every CP transaction requires a bit of btc to pay the miners fee

I think there is potential bug on dispenser that could be happened in following scenario

1. A setup a dispenser sell card for btc

2. B send btc to dispenser to buy card

3. The dispenser show the dispenses in unconfirm status on xchain

4. A close the dispenser quickly right after with much higher fee

5. B lose BTC because closing transaction got confirm first

I believe I experience one today. Even the lost is small but this bug if it exist might be serious

I have a question, how are the large images (not thumbnails) for cards from SOG, Sarutobi, Pepe etc. associated? As I understand it, images can be referenced as an imgur link in description, or a broadcast can be sent from the issuer. But for all these cards, there is no image link in description and I find no broadcasts.

I think the projects managed that internally and the token on-chain was often left blank. I.e. rarepepewallet was the main tool to trade pepes, so it was sufficient if the images were inside that service

so does Xchain simply have an internal database for all these official projects and the associated images for the official tokens? I noticed the other tools like bookof orbs all have different URLs for the images

Note also that there is no on-chain record of which tokens are REAL rare pepes and which are fake. It all just lives via the project’s web pages

The angle I was coming from was trying to validate the claim the UFOPEPE is the first NFT GIF, but I think Sarutobi was earlier. That's why I tried to figure out how the tokens are connected to the images

And it's also super confusing that people sell Sarutobi cards on OS that came from other projects, eg SARUTOBIISL, where they show the Sarutobi GIF on OS, but then on xchain you find only the original image, in this case the one from Oasis Mining. So the image they are using on OS is kind of misleading, as there never was an actual Sarutobi card SARUTOBIISL, they only showed their own GIF inside the game for the same OasisMining token, right? Sorry for nitpicking, but for collectors these things make a world of a difference in terms of provenance, or what was "first"

The docs specifically recommend to only interact with dispensers for small amounts at a time, so paying a couple grand to buy 1 token from a 1/1 dispenser seems kind of risky to me

I alone barely had any nfts and sold some I had for about 1 btc total through dispensers this month. didn't even have to eth scam anyone to do it

there's absolutely no excuse to even talk about eth scam in any context other than centralized and scam. none of eth scam nft websites ever bothered mentioning or measuring bitcoin ones, literal chain that invented them, and ethtards like to pretend they invented it like 4 years later to take it further. plus nothing prevents anyone from creating as much "volume" as they want "selling" tokens to themselves. the only decentralized purchase of nfts exists and always has on bitcoin. everything else has never been relevant. using trusted paypal or trusted eth = legacy noise

Hi team, whats the best way to retrofit an image to an asset, just via binding it to a set (mafia, kaliedooscope etc) or is there some stuff I can do in coindaddy?

users being able to close dispenesrs when they want is not a "bug"..... we are working on solutions to allow dispenser operators to link the dispenser to personally identifyable contact info so you will be able to contact the dispenser operators in the future if this happens... but users being able to open/close dispensers whenever they want is not a "bug".

in the future, make sure you make a payment to a dispenser with a very high tx fee if you want to guarantee your dispense happens quickly

can someone trick a dispenser by respending using a much higher tx fee? Efectively double spending but the lower fee tx will be rejected by the network.

there is no rejecting the lower fee tx by the network... dispensers are first come, first serve.... we don't hold places in line for people who choose to pay with a lower fee, and we don't prevent dispenser operators from closing dispensers because someone paid a lower fee tx for a dispense.... if you want to buy something from a dispenser, pay a high tx fee to ensure that your transaction arrives at the dispenser in the next block

it is a scam token which tries to trick people into logging into their scam wallet to "claim" some "free btc"... in reality, they just steal your 12-word passphrase and your funds

same with BONUSBTC scam token

I have added code to xchain.io to prevent displaying the asset description which showed the fake counterwallet URL.... in an attempt to prevent people from being silly and logging into the scam wallet

COUNTEREVENT and BONUSBTC are scammer tokens that are worth nothing... difficult when people get their hopes up and then think they have some free $$$ and their brain fights back against anything that tells them that it is not real... but I feel ya... had many conversations about these scam tokens over the past few years 😛

Yes... appears as if your doing it correctly if your goal is to issue 100 of each of your pieces of artwork 🙂

now just throw the artwork tokens in a dispenser and sell them for what you feel they are worth 🙂

Also, in the future you might want to consider using a NAMED asset (word).... you can issue individual named tokens for your artwork.... many people prefer named assets... you could issue a single named asset for each piece of artwork like MYARTTOKEN... or you could issue a named asset like SAOULIDIS and then issue your artwork as subassets like SAOULDIS.This_Is_The_Name_Of_My_Artwork

it would make it easier for all of your artwork to be associated with one another and people would know that it came from the same person.... but it is entirely up to you how you want to issue your assets... from a technical perspective, your doing things right, issuing one asset per piece of artwork, and issuing 100 supply tokens for each which you can sell..... like issuing 100 prints of your artwork which you can sell individually 🙂

Why would I get an error message "the quantity entered must be a whole number, since this is a non-divisible asset" when trying to create a dispenser?

open your wallet and go to create a dispenser... put in how many you want to put in the vending machine, how many you want to sell when someone pays (1) and how much BTC you want to charge for each piece of artwork.... the vending machine stays open and sells your artwork until the vending machines is empty or you close it

correct... counterwallet has an issue with listing non-divisible tokens and it hasn't been fixed yet cuz counterwallet is a pain to maintain/update.... best to use freewallet.io desktop wallet if you want to use counterparty 🙂

just be careful to open up each dispenser on a different address... and not addresses you commonly use.... otherwise, you could accidentally trigger a dispense by sending yourself BTC... or you could accidentally dispense from multiple dispensers that are setup on the same address

no, if you use an new/empty address, you can actually open a the dispenseer on it directly from your main walllet... it will save you some BTC fees (normally you would have to send BTC and the asset to the new address and then open the dispenser which would be 3tx)..... you can just enter the new/empty dispenser address in the "dispenser" address slot and the funds will be taken from your "source" address, credited to the new "dispenser" address and the dispenser will be opened automatically 🙂

then you just gotta check the dispensers every once in a while to see when they sell and collect your funds 🙂

Yes but my assets are on freeport, to get them on freewallet to make the dispenser that's a transaction

the same passphrase that works in freeport will work in freewallet.io desktop wallet.... just plug in the 12-word passphrase and you can access all the same wallets/addresses 🙂

go to change address... all your addresses will be listed... you also can create new addresses from the "Options" dropdown

Counterparty runs on the Bitcoin network... transactions are confirmed based on how high of a transaction fee you pay

if you want something confirmed faster, you pay a higher fee

nothing to do with load-balancing.... the load-balancing stuff is just me working on setting up multiple servers to handle all the increased load to the xchain.io website (just a blockchain viewer to see what is going on on the Counterparty network... who is sending what where, who is buying what, etc)

if you send to a dispenser, send with a really high fee.... otherwise someone could send to a dispenser with a higher fee and beat you to the vending machine/dispenser.... its first-come first served... so, always take that into account when doing transactions on counterparty... how important is it that the transaction gets processed fast..... if it is just send to a friend, it can be lower priority/cheaper... but if it is something you need processed fast, pay the extra $$$ to ensure it gets processed in the next block 🙂

yep, i'm basically bidding on pepes and watching others bids go up in meme pool so sending with v high fees to snipe haha

yeah... its all based on how busy the bitcoin network is... right now only a few thousand pending transactions, so stuff gets processed faster... but there are times where there are 150K pending transactions and counterparty transactions can take a LONG time (many days) to get processed.... so again, always keep in mind how important it is for you to get this procesed fasst and pay a high fee if it is important to you

your lucky cuz "high" right now is pretty cheap... but when the ntwork gets busy, you might wind up paying more... depends on how important it is to you 🙂

it's all just matching orders, no dispensers. so if my bid gets beat i have just been canceling the order and getting refunded on next block
