Is this possible through an escrow? -
The counterparty asset can be “escrowed” by the protocol but Bitcoin can’t be. Bitcoin has no awareness of CP. At some point the Bitcoin is “sent” by broadcasting the txn. It has 20 blocks to confirm. If it takes longer than that, the Bitcoin is still “sent” but the CP asset has been released from the escrow and not sent. This is one of the reasons xcp exists on the dex. To be the unit of account that can be “escrowed” as it’s a native token to CP. -
As a seller it’s fine. The risk is on the buyer’s end

Yes. In particular, being able to set-up a dispenser with a supply of, say, 100 using a single txn is very convenient and I’m not sure there is an equivalent for atomic swaps.

I don’t think dispensers are, necessarily, a “bad” design. It just has tradeoffs like everything. What I’ve taken issue with in the past (less so now that they are better understood) is the attempts at gas-lighting in the community. Countless times I’ve seen n00bs wander in here having just been rugged by a dispenser and being told “use a higher fee next time” which does not solve the issue at all. A bad actor can always just bump their fee even higher. But this was the well-worn “advice” for many years. n00bs (foolishly or naively) thinking dispensers are trustless (cuz why wouldn’t you assume that?) and then being told it’s their fault for not using a higher fee. Risks are not obvious to the average user (and perhaps that is their fault) but we can do better

Magic Eden supports Counterparty assets through Emblem Vault. Native support would be much better and I think atomic swap support is the key. It's a challenge for them to integrate Counterparty/Stamps without atomic swap support.

feel free to explain what happened in the freewallet chat mike posted above, but versions AFTER 0.9.28 (recent is 0.9.29) has better fee estimation..... though I have had issues with the recent version for 2 specific uses:
- longform asset descriptions (when minting or updating description) .... which basically the easyasset arweave or IPFS links people use
- longform broadcasts with many characters
^ in these specific circumstances you should use 2.5x the recommended "high" fee -
so upgrading to the recent version will help immensely

at the moment Freewallet.io (newest version 0.9.29) is the most commonly used and updated wallet, though the older rarepepewallet.com and the newer rarepepewallet.wtf still work as well
all the similar background tech is that those are all counterparty wallets (but also bitcoin wallets as well) so signing into those wallet with your passphrase will show the exact same information as your indiesquare once did before -

Normally, I would recommend Counterwallet, but that got broken due to a hasty upgrade to dispenser behaviour. Stamped.Ninja offers a wallet with dispenser functionality and it should allow you to close dispensers created in freewallet, I just haven't tried. The quickest method to close a dispenser is to just buy it out yourself.

how on freewallet - i know that i can send the assets via multi send on freewallet but when attempting to set up a dispenser i'm only able to select assets from what's populated in a dropdown (which doesn't include named assets)

another theory i thought of recently (just to riff a little) was a 'cart' mechanism for xcp functions.... i want to:
- send this multisend
- lock these 3 assets
- update this other description
- mint this numeric asset
add them all the 'cart' or 'queue' and broadcast them all at once (even if separate tx's) -

on another note, i went all the way back to Freewallet v0.9.10 and it seems like you've always needed to select assets from a dropdown when creating a dispenser.
so no luck yet setting up a dispenser for a named asset via freewallet -
