Alternative take, "Xchain is not good, I should make a block explorer." (not saying I personally think xchain is bad)
Instead of complaining, come up with your own solution. Complaints without solutions are useless and noisy. -
-
-
Sounds like a fundamental misunderstanding of how Bitcoin works, imo.

Yes as OG

I don't really understand the connection between OG and FLOCK. Can you elaborate?

Are the rumors true that counterparty is gonna change XCP for FLOCK and be renamed to flockparty?

I love all the ‘you should fix this to work how I think other things work’ in place of ‘I should try to understand how this thing works’ we are constantly seeing these days
-
-
-
I've always been curious on how the listing works, how they "integrate"?
-
can imagine
-
they keep a part of supply and maintain an order book on their side?
-
or they actually interact with counterparty in a wider basis?

What exactly is XCP20?

locked counterparty assets where 100% of supply is distributed via a burn dispenser

Can a Stamp be deleted/burnt on FreeWallet? Any help appreciated. Asking for a friend.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Any Counterparty asset can be burned but using the Destroy function would be preferable as this would reduce the total supply of the asset.
-
you can destroy your stamp in freewallet using the destroy function or you can send your stamp to a burn address
-
-
RUG20 too
-
-
Focking flockers🔥🔥🔥

JPMCHASE is an XCP-20 that has a STAMP on it (data encoded into UTXOs)... if that counts 🙂

If anyone wants 7 years old xcp asset from some Japanese project there is a year old super cheap dispenser for HYOU
-
It's a token not an xcp asset. There is a clear distinction between the two within Counterparty.
What is/was HYOU? I'm curious to learn about something on Counterparty that is super cheap at a $4B market cap with an unlocked supply. -

It is. Dispensing whole supply from burn address

GM good Sirs! A newbie question: I have freewallet, and I'd like to use a new address to create a token. I used "Change address" to a new address before "create a token". But it gives me the "Public key was neither provided nor published in blockchain.". What should I do?
-
Do a send from that new address... so the public key is known... after that should be good
-
I did in .. 2022.
Not aware on anything ancient on xcp -

Thanks! Greatly appreciate it.

its like regular bitcoin but dead
-
Ser @jdogresorg, please why is multisend not working?
-
1) dont @ me direct for support questions unless you have a repeatable issue
-
2) ask your question here and let people have a chance to answer
-
I am not tech support, nor do I wish to be... nothing personal... just not a good use of my time... if there are issues, community will sus them out and relay any issues up to me
-
multisend is working fine... sent some earlier today
-
Apologies
-
sok man.. know it wasn't intentional... you just want answers 🙂
-
AFAIK multi-send is working fine
-
-
did that send yesterday
-
no changes to protocol in weeks, so doubtful there is issue... prolly related to low tx fees and busy mempool
-
Okay thanks

Greetings Counter Culture Revolutionaries and fellow citizens of the Memetic Republics of Counterparty and Kekistan.
Rumours of my demise were greatly exaggerated. I'm still alive and kicking and will run a hectic two session auction this coming weekend!
Our next @WTHAuctionHouse ALL COLLECTIONS Counterparty Auction is on!
With two Sessions of up to 30 Lots each, there's plenty of room for all.
Check the pinned post in WTH for the full details and the Lot submission link.
Looking forward to bringing the most diverse array of Counterparty collectibles to auction once again. -

when btns indexer launch ?
-
https://xchain.io/address/1HavgRijqhCbcDTo2J4S9wnX7uC1NvGNKP
looks like we have a scammer ("BLACKBOXS, BLCKBOX") -
-
I recognize that address. Known scammer. Scammed me on an xcp dispenser once.
-
yup... saw an asshat trying to register scam assets yestrday.... added them to the xchain "bad boys" list... will add these 2 as well.... cant prevent scammers from scamming, but can do my best to not make it easy on them (ie, hide from xchain)
-
thx for the heads up... will add these to the bad boy list as well
-
👍
-
is the bad boys list public?
-
Its trivial for a scammer to change the address used so a black list is almost useless. What's really needed is a reputation system for reputable addresses.
-
thanks for the reminder, Mike.
-
yep... almost like the CoinDaddy Asset Reputation system I wrote years ago and which has been visible on every page for many years..... cept, no one really uses it..
-
I use it. I rated my own address 5 stars.
-
You and the scammers 😛
-
Gj
-
they real good at submitting 5 start anon reviews on projects
-
@mikeinspace to be clear.... NOT calling you a scammer... just saying, scammers also review themselves with 5-stars 🙂
-
@jdogresorg I've authenticated my address through CoinDaddy as "mikeinspace". Simply surfacing that on xchain would solve a lot of these issues.
-
-
My point is I shouldn't have been allowed to rate my own address.
-
I have a reputation system with a start rating on xchain... if ppl want to know what makes up that rating, they can click.... dont feel it is appropriate to put a bunch of reviews of an asset on a block explorer..... if ppl want to dig into reputation info, they can easily do so with 1 click...
-
cool... so I add code to prevent rating their own address.... easy to just rate from tons of other addresses.... so, didn't waste time adding code that wouldnt really prevent abuse.... scammers can easily create alterante accounts and submit fake reviews (they do)
-
Reputation systems can be gamed. But I'd feel more confident buying a Blackbox if I saw that it had a checkmark JDOG avatar next to the address.
-
Got ya.... IMO the reputation system is less than ideal, and should be mixed into the CP protocol in some way.... some level of trust required to issue an asset, etc... but reputation systems are hard... lots of ppl been trying to tackle it for a long time.... def open to suggestions 🙂
-
Twitter auth might be an easy solution to integrate. Not perfect.
-
It would also allow buyers to have some measure of recourse when buying from a dispenser. At least you know who to contact
-
Cool. Etherscan has chat function. There is a demand for rating as well.
-
Yes...it is hard. scammer can make good reputation address first and then scam big amount ...
-
-
-
this is why I suggest having nostr npubs in jsons attached to assets, so that people can contact asset owners without having to go via a centralised 3rd party such as twitter, there is no nostr Inc it is a decentralised protocol not a platform
-
That might work with sales from the original artist but what about resales? If I'm in need of some xcp, I'm not buying from an artist, but I would buy from an account I recognize over one I don't even if its slightly more expensive
-
Suggestion
First unconfirmed transaction gets dispensed first
Condition
Transaction fee should be in accordance with the mempool at that time so it will most probably confirmed in next block -
clog every dispenser for $0 attack fee
-
"transaction fee should be in accordance with the mempool"
How is this determined? Which mempool? Plus or minus how much? -
Great idea
-
High priority
On mempool -
What if I'm the first unconfirmed... but then I CPFP the txn
-
"High priority" isn't a value that can be programmed... and there is no single mempool
-
Honestly... prolly some point next week... I had DEPLOY/MINT/TRANSFER working 2 weeks ago... but got busy rewriting the BTNS-420 spec n divorcing myself from the "stamps" drama.
The last couple days, I've been revisiting the code, and determined, if I HAVE to go down this rabbit hole and build this indexer and I'm going to have to maintain it.... might as well do things "right" vs fast..... So, spent a bunch of time the past few days reworking the code to make it much more modular and maintainable... and took the time to add code to generate hashes (credits, debits, balances, transactions) to make it easy to compare btns indexers and make sure all are working on the same data (same way CP does it)... also added code to handle rollbacks nicely (can roll back all data to specific block and parse from there forward).... so Yeah, lots of optimizations and building is going on... slowing down release... but again... I prefer to do things "right" vs "fast"
Also spent time writing out the BTNS-420 spec a bit more and breaking out the commands into various actions (easier to grok API docs when not one huge spec)
https://github.com/jdogresorg/Broadcast-Token-Naming-System/blob/main/docs/BTNS-420.md
Currently plan is :
- Finish off indexer (version 0.10.0 with ISSUE/MINT/SEND support)
- Integrate BTNS into XChain (Yep, all same APIs)
- Add support for BTNS tokens to emblem vaults (can be done in hours whenever I say "ready")
- Update Freewallet to fix some issues (sweeps) and integrate basic BTNS support (view balances)
- Update freewallet to make it easy to "ISSUE/MINT/SEND" BTNS tokens (simple interface auto-generates broadcast format for you)
- Focus back on indexer (version 0.20.0 with DISPENSER support)
- Build out other BTNS features over the coming weeks
No plans to pump this project, or turn it into something profitable at this time... this is purely for science and experimenting around with possible features and enhancements to CP... will degens put $$$ into this and fuck around... prolly... but I am not structuring this as a way to make $$$...and specically tell ppl in the indexer to NOT put $$$ into this... but, degens gonna degen
TLDR... 2 weeks 😛Broadcast-Token-Naming-System/docs/BTNS-420.md at master · jdogresorg/Broadcast-Token-Naming-SystemBroadcast Token Naming System (BTNS) specs, docs, and tools - jdogresorg/Broadcast-Token-Naming-System

-
Not vaporware... its being written.. but good thigns take time
-
It could be used in the same way any of the social media platforms that are provisioned for in cip25 ... centralised social media platforms can and do censor user data, nostr being an open protocol and not a commercial platform eliminates that point of failure
-
You are right
What If
First unconfirmed transaction gets dispensed first If it gets confirmed within next 5 blocks -
Yes
It should work -
-
-
It will dispense after it gets confirmed but it will dispense to the first unconfirmed transaction in line If it gets mined in next 5 blocks
Not to the highwst fee transaction -
The condition is it should be mined within 5 blocks
Only after that it gets dispensed -
As bob and mike have said... you cant rely on unconfirmed txs... for reservations or anything else.... every CP node can rely on the bitcoin blockchain for data (it is all there)... but you can't rely on mempool data... cuz it wont be consistent between nodes..... what happens when ONE CP node sees a mempool tx and reserves items in the dispenser.... and when some OTHER CP node does NOT see the mempool tx and does NOT reserve items in a dispenser... we now have CP doing 2 different actions based on inconsistent mempool data... TLDR, can only rely on CONFIRMED txs
-
Unconfirmed transaction are shown on dispensers page
At that time it can reserve and only after it gets confirmed it will dispense
If within five blocks it is not confirmed then it gets unreserved -
-
unconfirmed txs are shown on dispensers to try and warn people about incoming dispenses which MIGHT trigger a dispense.... doesn't mean that anything is "reserved" for a tx in the mempool... just a display thing I do on xchain to try and stop ppl from losing funds by sending to a dispenser which will be empty.... but to be clear, there is no reservation system.
-
You're confusing xchain with the counterparty protocol.
-
cool... so I can just spam really low tx fee transactions forever... no intention to actually ever get the tx mined... but, am able to "lock up" all tokens in the dispenser with fake buy orders in mempool.... I know you want a solution man... and there is prolly one... but all the "you should just do X" simple fixes have been discussed.... I encourage you to brush up on what has been discussed by devs already :)
-
-
Thank you for listening

anyone looking to sell XCP for DAI or TUSD?
-
how do i find dispenser for PEPEXCPTWNTY. ?

xchain.io... search for PEPEXCPTWNTY ... click the one match... click dispensers tab...
-
Thanks for the heads up... looks like they were about to try and scam ppl into thinking XCP had a coinbase listing...
-
-
thanks but i am trying to find the page where it says sent xxx btc to xxx address. pls let me know thanks
-
I added those assets and the scammer address to the xchain block list... so, the API wont work for his address or those assets anymore.... scammer will be prevented from scamming from this address... but will be on the move shortly... so keep an eye out 🙂

If i wanted to sell some XCP for BTC how would i start to use the dispenser?
-
I minted an named asset (to save the name and token) and paid the 0.5xcp but realized I set the Supply at 0. I did this knowing I didnt lock the token supply could print more later (and kinda didnt realize it would be an issue). But now I want to get more tokens (increase supply) but freewallet doesnt show assets with 0 supply. So I cannot mint more, nor create a subasset (which was my intention). How can I fix this?
-
-
you dont need to see supply in freewallet to do an issuance
-
-
-
just go issue supply... plug in your token name... enter supply you want to mint.. done
-
-
-
-
use freewallet.io and right click your xcp and select "Create XCP Dispenser" - some helpful education: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se1hocwoJrM
