Also, I hear music loading and playing for a brief second here…. Not exactly sure what is going on, but it appears as if the project image is displaying perfectly fine and the green banner is displaying perfectly fine.

Perhaps if you want things to display different differently, you should talk to your horizon buddies who don’t have support for any music at all or any asset descriptions or anything other than a single image.

Also, things seem to load fine perfectly fine in FreeWallet, which also supports images and wallets and all content in CIP 25 ….. if you want to play music in your wallet, you also probably should reach out to your horizon buddies and let them know what you as a community want in your wallet🤷🏻‍♂️

And the functionality with green banners has always been to just display the image… if additional content plays that is great… but it has never been the standard that both the project content and the Jason content are displayed and worked perfectly fine.

Once again, if you want this issue fixed create a GitHub issue in the FreeWallet repo, and I will look into it next week… the fact that the music starts to play and then stop probably indicates the loading and unloading of a component… probably a simple fix, but if it it’s not on my to-do list, it will get lost in all of the things that I already have to complete next week

The Logik probably changed a little bit in the migration from X chain.io to tokenscan.io…. Previously all that project, NFTs were driven by a single 11 meg file that was downloaded by every user…. I switched to a model where the project information is passed along with the asset information in the API request…. So I had to tweak the way that the project information was displayed a bit.

If someone wants to create a GitHub issue for this in the FreeWallet repo, I will look into it later this week and get it fixed…. What should be happening is that the official image displayed should be coming from the project and then any additional information stored in the asset JSON should be displayed as well… my guess is that the project information is conflicting with the displaying of the music…. Most likely an easy fix if someone will create a GitHub issue…. I’m doing weekly meal prep right now, so not near your computer.

Probably not as FreeWallet uses the same exact display logic as tokenscan.io now…. I know music does play in FreeWallet, but in this instance with this asset, if it’s not playing on token scan, it’s probably won’t be playing in the wallet either

This may be the issue….. it doesn’t specify what file type the content is…. If the file name ended in a file type like .mp4 .mp3 .mov…. Then the explorer would know how to handle the content…. But that just being a raw link to a file, the explorer doesn’t know how to properly load that file and play it…. This is kind of the reason that CIP 25 was created., to allow people to specify what type of content it was and the file extension associated with that content…. I believe there is a hack around this where you can append on a query string with the file name like ?filename=playme.mp3 …. And since the last three letters of the URL are a known content type the content should play…

However, it seems clear that the current counterparty 2.0 developers have no interest in doing this, and so the ledgers will be permanently separated, and counterparty. Classic will become more of a real thing than it ever had to be.

I truly had hoped that the outrage of the community and people talking on Twitter spaces about how the loss of this functionality affects them would make Adam see reason, as adding the origin dispenser functionality back is relatively straightforward.

That is incorrect Mike, counterparty. Classic is the older version of counterparty with a simple tweak to add replay protection. No additional features will be added in this release (except for adding the ability for BTC to trigger dispensers as they were supposed to, when Adam added the new dispense method… yet another change that was promised as reverse compatible, but turned out to not be the case)

To be clear , there are only two ledgers, and the ledger fork happened after the counterparty 2.0 software was released and failed to operate as it was promised. FreeWallet and tokenscan.io only supported counterparty 2.0 at its launch and continue to do so for over two weeks as the ledger’s diverged.

I also have given Adam and the counterparty 2.0 team ample time to bring everyone back to a unified ledger by adding the origin dispenser functionality back, however, they will not do that, and there is clearly community demand for counterparty classic functionality, so at this point adding replay protection and severing the forks makes the most sense

The fork has been here for 3+ weeks... it is Counterparty 2.0... and the efforts to get back on a unified ledger by adding the origin functionality back has been waiting for 2+ weeks... so, not my fault if I choose to run a version of Counterparty that some in the community want to use vs Counterparty 2.0 because they refuse to add back functionality that was removed before suitable alternatives were working and proven as good replacements

BTW... will be spinning the "no longer able to run on Counterparty 2.0" counterwallet up for counterparty classic users to use again 🤷️️️️️️

It's a token by token fork. Certain actions result in an invalid tx on one side or the other, while being accepted on the other side.
-Opening a dispenser on an empty address on old versions
-Buying from a dispenser from a vanilla BTC wallet rather than an XCP wallet will only dispense the token on old versions.
-Fairmints and UTXO binding on the newest version

These are the actions that result in tokens being forked.

It should be noted that this is nothing new. If anyone uses an old wallet, you are potentially exposing yourself to similar risks.

For example, the update from 9.59 - 9.6 had the reset divisible asset function. Once an asset was reset, it was forked away from its previous self on all versions prior to 9.6

I still wish that you would reconsider tooling for a 9.x branch even with the relay protection. What is the future? Do you intend to be the lead maintainer and support for the future? How will this be a community project? What community? A splinter from CP? There still is time to just move forward with a unified CP. I can understand that you might not want to do this but I still want to just have you give it some thought. Changes can be made to make CP better in the future, tooling for 9.x will not help anyone long term as I beleive it wil be dropped. Will only cause confusion. I know I'm repeating myself.

I urge you to take these same arguments to Adam re: adding the lost origin functionality back to Counterparty 2.0... I've been saying for weeks this doesn't need to happen. As far as maintaining Counterparty Classic, I didn't want to, but since there is a need, yes, I can maintain it and add features if the community wants them. Really had hoped that Adam and team would see reason and restore lost functionality, but that has not happened, and instead the full focus has been on me being the problem vs addressing the communities concerns.

The “classic” ledger had a handful of assets dispensed on it. Maybe 40-50 asset divergence. This pretty much stopped as soon as Ninja acknowledged the mistake and put up a red banner.

The other ledger has thousands of new assets due to fair minting.

The Classic ledger only continues to exist thanks to one party. There’s no end-user tooling and basically no activity.

The idea that this is “protecting” users is laughable. It’s being done entirely out of spite. Users would be protected by not creating further market confusion by continuing to kick the can down the road. First 2.0 had to implement replay protection. When that never happened the next desperate move to maintain relevancy was to announce that classic will implement it. But no concrete date. Just a moving target. My bet is it will never happen. But the rhetoric is causing real damage to the Counterparty ecosystem. Burn it all to the ground when you don’t get your way, eh?

Once again spin, this is all my fault when I was not the new version of software that caused the fork, and when users have been upset for quite a while about losing certain functionality, and yet the dev who removed that functionality refused to add the functionality back and instead send people over here to try to continue to make me the bad guy🤷🏻‍♂️

If anything, I’ve taken a very calm, rational approach and not provided tool to interact with counterparty. Classic kept the default in FreeWallet to be counterparty 2.0 and have not implemented replay protection yet in hopes that the counterparty 2.0 core devs could see reason and put all of this nonsense to bed by simply adding back the loss functionality, which they can remove in the future when better solutions are working

I’m sorry, you guys disagree with my decision but if you look at my actions, I have been very calm and reasoned and explaining how the ledger fork happened that I was going to show both versions of the ledger that I wanted everybody to be back on unified ledger and what needed to happen in order to stop the community from being upset about the missing functionality….
