also looking at this list, are the numeric assets here mintable? not seeing evidence they have been minted at all on block explorers
-
-
@Niftyboss1 know details on this by chance?

No idea sorry

So fun question
All the stuff that’s being “minted” right now
How do we see that market playing out ?
Is everyone hopeful these mints will be worth resale after there all minted out ? Kinda wondering a bit ? -
its still mintable tho, aint a mistake
-
-
-
if its anything like Runes, i wouldnt be suprised if a few of these held some value
-
-
Hmm I see
A little gabilly haha like runes haha ya fun -
-
-
I’m sure there will be exchange orders coming out the waaazooo after for assets
-
I serious AF about this. 40k MINTS per breitbartpep - similar to last sale price (under floor for BREITBARTPEP) - any node runner MINTS whales its out there for ya
https://tokenscan.io/tx/805a0f94f428956480b5acb95e05df3306ceb667acacbc7fcd6eb4f325b7422a
for the new frens, oh hell yeah you can trade ASSET for ASSET on the xcp dex -
Some questions:
1. How do I search for tokens already minted?
2. What is the value proposition for mints?
3. How will mints be bought and sold? -
-
Any chance any of these fair mints will go to a huge market cap without an exchange?

-
Thank you Dave!
It feels like something big is going on with mints, but I haven't a clue as to what it might be. -
Nobody doing a trump mint yet?
-
Sounds like a job for GMONEY's crew......
Maybe I'll do one now and see what happens. -
So wait, before the CP wallet will allow one to mint, there has to be a "fairminter" created, is that correct?
("['fairminter not found for asset: Covfefe']")
How does one create/issue a fairminter? -
You have to own the XCP token issuance for an asset before you fairmint it... I believe COVFEFE is taken already as an asset name
-
-
Sooo
1. Create/own XCP asset name
2. Start minting using that name
Is that all that is required? -
-
-
It doesn't seem to work like that.
I own NOVIRUS:
https://tokenscan.io/asset/NOVIRUS
And tried to mint using that name, but got the same error message on freewallet:
"fairminter not found for asset" -
Sounds like there is a step in between involving creating a fairminter. How does one do that?
-
FW doesnt support making FairMints yet, only minting existing ones
-
-
How are these guys creating all of their fairmints/
-
def be safe and make a fresh addy... but since they dont support importing PK's youd have to send asset issuance over to the new addy you made (and some xcp) to fairmint it....also NOVIRUS already has a supply.... though its not locked yet so idk if you can fairmint it..... dont know all the details yet

yes, before tooling was made avaliable (and API was still up lol)
-
the balance is ok, the issue items are wrong.
-
Holy shite, 10,000 pages of fairmints for "MINTS."
That might have been a factor in clogging up CP last night. -
-
Will they ever need to use XCP when they start trading their MINTS?
-
what's the price of MINTS
-
no xcp needed to create Counterparty DEx order or Dispenser - xcp only needed to mint tokens (which creating a fairmint does)
-
-
-
-
no idea - cost about $1-$2 per 1000 MINTS - market will decide i guess
-
Given that they have minted 10,000,000,000,000,000 MINTS, there will be a lot of orders on Dex or dispensers.
If they use the Dex to sell them for BTC, that could clog up the network as well.
If this trend continues, using XCP as a gas fee to moderate usage load seems like better to do earlier than later. -
Yes, it was more of a statement, no intention to sell.
-
dex orders and dispenser aint clogging up the network
-
-
Yet?
-
-
-
Do we have a verifiable criteria for tx involving dex orders and dispensers clogging up the network?

So are multidispensers now a thing of the past?

Gm. I was going to ask the same question.

Multiple dispensers on the same address, triggered by a single dispense?

when creating a dispenser, can I just use my main address for that, or is using a "clean" address advised?
-
hey, new to this, so I just sent 0.00015810 BTC per XCP to the address shown from my Native Segwit (bc1q) wallet and I will receive XCP?
-
basically yes but look the price
-
1 XCP 10$ lol
-
Ser that's the cheapest dispenser available
-
Clean address needed or risk losing assets is my understanding
-
Correct on how it works. I'll let someone else answer to confirm about segwit compatibility but don't think it's an issue afaik
-
It depends of the fairminter: https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/advanced/specifications/fairminter/Fair Minting | Counterparty
Fair Minting is a process whereby users are able to “mint” tokens in a decentralized manner. One user initiates the mint (either with or without a “premint”), and then other users are able to trigger it to create tokens for themselves. Fair Minting was likely inspired by the original Counterparty Proof-of-Burn mechanism, by which users sent BTC to an unspendable address and XCP tokens were generate for them automatically.
-
That's cheap

-
Yea I think that's the normal price, when I check coingecko it's at $9.23

Hi,
I’m wondering if there is a native ecosystem tool to swap some sats for XCP. As an atomic swap or a homemade dex? -
Is it P2P trade?
-
For now, dispensers (see the list I just posted)
An atomic-swap based marketplace is under development -
Ah yes ok, so 131 XCP minimum for now?
-
Yes this is the seller with the best rate right now
131 XCP remaining on dispenser, so you can buy any amount between 1 and 131 XCP
(note: a Counterparty wallet must be used: freewallet, horizon, or rarepepewallet) -
Minimum purchase is 1 xcp in case that's what you mean

Yeah ok I don’t have +$1k for now 😅

Ah ok ok cool I wasn’t sure

I would say something that’s sort of reminiscent of the layout/color scheme. Really just needs 2 BUY buttons and a chart
-
-
Countermarket
-
That is how I did the superbowl tokens
-
I think each was worth 1000 pepecash, the favorite cost more than the underdog, that is the same way polymarket does it
-
Just that polymarket is p2p we would just have to trust who is going to settle the tokens
-
Maybe make it more wacky and make people bet in pepecash instead of btc
-
I think the bet function is still there on coutnerwallet web version, but it is rough

Yeah, I don't know what is going on with this one.
I used freewallet to set it up, and it's got 94 confirmations, but it is not showing up in my list of dispensers:
https://blockstream.info/tx/f8b9cc73a938599740d44f78dded23486d58b2a38cb52142a77f702b70c5da19Blockstream Block ExplorerBlockstream Explorer is an open source block explorer providing detailed blockchain data across Bitcoin, Testnet, and Liquid. Supports Tor and tracking-free.
-
Freewallet uses the /v1/ API endpoint to setup dispensers... nothing has changed in freewallet in that regard... so, best guess is there is some regression in counterparty-core where create_dispenser in /v1/ API is not properly creating the transaction like it does when using the /v2/ API. @teysol could you please look into this issue... I'll create a test dispensers using the /v1/ API in a few hours when I get home... but, having multiple users report not being able to create dispensers in freewallet, and only difference is /v1/ API vs /v2/ ... so most likely candidate is issue in counterparty-core since FreeWallet runs on counterparty-core 10.5.0-alpha3.... Thx
-
Thank you Brrr Guy.
I did the same thing I always did with freewallet to create a dispenser, and from the freewallet side there was no form of error message.
After 94 confirmations, the dispenser should be up.
Given that we don't have any other meaningful ways of trading XCP at the moment, this seems like an important issue. -

What is the difference between $test and $mints?
-
TEST: first asset on Counterparty
MINTS: first 'fairminted' Counterparty asset
Well actually, none of the above statements are true!
XCP is the very first Counterparty asset (being the native token) AND the first 'fairminted' asset (during a 5000-block period in January 2014)
see: https://tokenscan.io/burns -

Neither do TEST or MINTS actually - They're hot because they're first, in its each own category

I tried to make a dispenser the other day using Freewallet:

It looks like the tx went through, but the dispenser is no where to be found.

You’re the third person to report this issue…. Nothing has changed in FreeWallet with regards to how dispensers are created…. The only difference is that FreeWallet uses the v1 API, which is supposed to work without any problems and be 100% backwards compatible…. But clearly that seems to not be the case.
This is an issue in counterparty-core…. But rather asking for the devs to look into the issue waiting for the devs to look into the issue and fix it, as I did yesterday, I’ll be spending some time today updating FreeWallet to use the V2 end points and putting out a new release…. Including support for fairminters (creating a farmint)
I had hoped to not be forced to update a bunch of my code without testing the new endpoints first, but it seems there is a regression in counterparty-core, and I don’t wanna wait around while any more users lose funds, trying to open a dispenser and waste BTC
TLDR yea there is issue n I’ll put out updated freewallet today that fixes issue 🤷🏻♂️ -
Fyi no funds were lost except the BTC spent on the miners fee👍🏻
-
Gm! I am trying to multisend assets to dispenser addresses, but it does not appear to be working right now. Am I doing something wrong, or will v2 endpoints fix this as well?
-
Attempting to refill an active dispenser? I think that was removed.
-
not an active one but an emptied one
-
or is this the same
-
Emptied would be closed. Should be able to in that case
-
This is what I get as an error: Error generating first transaction. Error composing send transaction via API: compose() got an unexpected keyword argument 'pubkey'
-
-
-
-
Make sure you’re on the latest version of FreeWallet….. when dispensers were allowed to be open on addresses other than the source address pub key was being passed for the new address…. Now that you’re forced to only open dispensers on the source address pub key has been removed and is no longer needed…. If you’re getting this message, you’re probably not on 0.9.36.
-
A screen that calculates the total number of mince required in order to max out would be a helpful thing to have on the create fairminters form…. Since I’m doing FreeWallet updates today anyway, I’ll see if I can get that added
-
yeah, I'm adding this right now
-
-
That's right, I've been using an older version on this machine. Thanks!
-
hello, i've used unisat to buy some stamps on stamped ninja , why can't i see them?
-
can you send me an invite
-
I'm not sure if they've pushed network updates, considering the Dispenser prefix
-
thanks.. anyway i should be able to see it right?
-
Unisat works fine on stampverse.io, the buy plug in is up to date
-
sooner or later 😆
-
I'm not sure if the buy is successful...
-
money disappeared from wallet so i think yes

Anyone have an idea of how many more users CP has gotten this last week?
-
The only way to access currently the CounterParty dex is using Freewallet.io
-
Have to move conversation here...
-
You may view trades and orders on Freewallet.io or xcp.io
-
Only way to access the orderbook is using freewallet.io
-
And the pair is xcp
-
Counterparty - early adoptors since 2014.
-
its crazy it took 10 years for xcp to do its first fair mint
-
I couldn't find mints/xcp here, I clicked a few times and got an error
-
I think we’ll see multiple new marketplaces for fairmints and other counterparty tokens in the near future
-
-
-
Lots of orders, no fills
-
Say about 3k more unique users per day on tokenscan.io last week… and about 3000 new “addresses” who minted…. A large portion of them were prolly the same users just minting to different addresses… I’d say a couple thousand were exposed to CP last week, but the downtime caused lots of frustration to these new users, so not the best first impression of CP🤷🏻♂️
But that’s just my opinion👍🏻 -

@teysol any updates on getting dispensers to work and be reverse compatible without changes to using the V1 API?
This was one of my concerns about updates to counterparty was being forced to make code changes because things were breaking when they shouldn’t be….
I’m taking it upon myself to update the Wallet to use the V2 end points because that seems to be the only way to get dispensers to work again in FreeWallet….
It would be great if you had tests to test all of the V1 endpoints and V2 end points and make sure that they generate the same transactions…
Choosing to depreciate an API that’s been used for many years and force users to a new API is frustrating …. I can understand forcing users to use a new API endpoint for new features but here we are with features that I’ve worked for years mysteriously not working after the update. -
anyone know if counterparty broken atm i made dipsenser was in mempool already 272 confirms since yesterday was confirm 87 wen i last checkd thought to just wait a bit
-
-
Now you’re the sixth user to report having issues with dispensers and FreeWallet…. I really wish this stuff would’ve been tested before being released.🤷🏻♂️
-
-
Super frustrating to have my wallet which is used by thousands of users break while mysteriously horizon works perfectly fine (cuz using new v2 endpoints) I’m sure it just happens to be a coincidence… but if you truly care for the community and the developers building on the platform, seems like there needs to be more testing on things before they’re released🤷🏻♂️
-
-
-
-
LOL... got it... so you create a new api that is supposed to be 100% reverse compatible, depreciate the old one, and then turns out that things are not 100% reverse compatible because the API we have had for 9+ years has been "depreciated"... A choice by you.... Got it... I see you.
-
-
-
-
-
-
One of the reasons I decided to focus on building elsewhere, its clear your taking CP in your own direction, and doing things you want, with little concern for the community... remember what you promised robby when you took over the counterparty-core? No deleting fednode and no deleting counterwallet repo.... TECHNICALLY you haven't done those.. you just very quickly "changed" counterparty-lib to counterparty core (thereby breaking fednode)... and conveniently chose to not make simple updates to counterwallet to keep it running...... I do my best to try and play nice n respectful... but I see you and this game your playing with dev. Will make the necessary updates to get my tools working again after you made changes which broke them... then back to focusing on my own stuff
-
Much higher priorities than fixing an issue in the API which has been used for years, and is costing users funds in a wallet they have used for years... cuz you choose to randomly depreciate an API.... I know your priorities in your for-profit VC funded company... have fun working on your explorer and wallets. L8r
-
-
-
-
Opt-out donations that users may not realize they are paying is the only ethical profit model
-
LOL, those donations really bug you huh? Users are notified in the wallet and have to AGREE that they have seen the message before they can use the wallet, they can easily be turned off... and yeah, after years of ASKING for donations from the community, and keeping the CP community alive for the 8+ years while the devs were gone, and funding it out of my own pocket... I decided to go with an auto-donation model. Nice to keep trying to make me look bad vs just focusing on facts bro
-
Or maybe charging users 1000 dollars to upload a json file to get a green banner on your (at-the-time) monopoly product is the only ethical profit model
-
Or maybe the only ethical profit is the one that you make
-
Specifics less important
-
Also, I look forward to you showing users here how they can "open a dispenser on a new address using only 1 tx"... cuz Its not possible... like you keep claiming... you still gotta FUND the new address with BTC and assets (2 txs) and THEN it is a 1 tx to open a dispenser
-
-
-
How about you just STFU and we can agree to disagree rather than continuing to try and make Personal attacks Vector... I'm fine standing behind my 8+ years of running stuff for CP, fundig it on my own, and writing all my tools open source... and NOT taking any VC funds to keep running stuff 😘️️️️️️
-
Sounds good
-
-
-
You can use an existing address now. Boom 1 tx.
-
-
-
Could use this class now
-
-
-
it has to be a fresh dispeser addy
-
if its used already i dont think it will work
-
that 1tx
-
With the new updates, managing dispensers has become much more difficult, and multisend is no longer cost-effective.
-
yeah, managing dispensers is kind of tough. even with horizon. because I can`t really tell what the current price for e.g. XCP is. I need freewallet for that. but freewallet seems to have some problems viewing dispensers currently because of counterparty core changes
-
I used to be able to multi send 100 assets for 21c
-
70c in today's money
-
You got a tx for me to look at yet demonstrating your opening a dispenser on a brand new empty address with no history using just a single tx? Really eager to see this "still can do things in just 1 tx on a new/empty address" functionality you keep saying exists.
-
-
I am working all day but if you give it a try I’d be happy to look it over :)
-
right, put the ownice back on me rather than demonstrate that you can't do it.... If you want to setup 5 different dispensers on 5 different addresses and NOT have them all on the same address and risk a single BTC payment triggering multiple dispensers, it now takes MANY more txs
-
-
Just be honest, its ok.... you changed functionality and now if you want to open 5 dispensers and NOT on the same address (becase you dont want to trigger multiple dispensers with a single BTC payment), you now have to send BTC and ASSETS to each of those 5 addresses... its fine, the change has been made, users are seeing it is more difficult to use... no point in trying to keep spinning it like I am wrong and not understanding things with this "you can setup multiple dispensers on a single address" response.... multiple dispensers on single address == one BTC payment triggering multiple dispensers... not the same as 5 separate dispensers on 5 separate addresses
-

-
-
It seems that sends from Freewallet (not the latest version) to a dispenser address is not triggering the buy as it should.
I understand this is not a Freewallet issue
But I would like to know if something can be done to "manually" trigger a dispenser after the fact? -
With the new update, can we now open multiple dispensers all on the same source address without the risk of accidentally losing assets when one of the dispensers is triggered?
-

are there any plans to make trading of assets on counterparty easier going forward? I wanna sell some XCP, and it`s quite a hassle currently @teysol

Yup... ignore the drama that you created and accountability and just talk about how great things will be in the future... ignoring that things are more difficult and expensive for end users now... unnecessarily.... remember, i'm just a "toxic" dev who you choose to say "my daddy didn't love me enough" when trying to raise these issues many months ago and was ignored. sad state of affairs sir.

Does anyone know whats up w the Freewallet dispenses and if I should be concerned? I sold 3 batches of TC late last week, the coins seem deducted from the dispenser and seem to have added BTC to my wallet, but on Tokenscan it doesn't show the dispenses at all (only ones from 2 weeks ago), and in the history part of my freewallet, it doesn't show the TC leaving, just the BTC payments coming in.... I know there were a bunch of issues recently w the updates. Should I just be patient? Thanks in advance 😉

You trying to gaslight me is funny.. i've been here for 9+ years keeping it alive for the community while you were off doing other things...you come back, decide to break a bunch of shit (and add some new features, which are decent) and then try to spin it on me like I am the bad guy

-
so this is a freewallet issue not a protocol issue? cause there were all these changes on the protocol side the past week that’s why I was wondering
-
I'll be putting out a new Freewallet update on this "unmaintained wallet" (the one which had MINTS working before the "maintained" Horizon wallet)... I want to make sure that users dont lose any funds.... a number of users have complained about things breaking since the 10.4 "upgrade"
-
ps not trying to start a fight I literally just want to know if I can use dispensers at all or what’s the issue
-
is tokenscan a freewallet thing?
-
-
tokenscan.io is the explorer that xchain.io became.... XChain.io is now for a multi-chain platform that I've been building based on BTNS... decided to build my own platform when I saw how things were going with Counterparty.... TLDR, As always, i'll put the users first and update the wallet shortly.

I can make a dispenser or horizen too?

Yes it’s the same address/key, so you’re just interfacing with the same wallet you have on freewallet. Any transactions you issue from horizon wallet will be present in both places
-
-
does it mean its a bad time to make dispeser and or trade orders today for counteprarty assets ?

You can use horizon to interface with your Freewallet seed right now or wait for Jdogs upgrade which will be ready soon
-
thank you
-
will just wait is too much to keep up so many wallets and so many platforms nad so many many anything hehe exciting times though . cheers thanks for the info
-
Yes! it’s the same wallet, you would just be viewing it on a different platform basically, but waiting is fine too
-
ty everyone this is helpful

I also remember many times of you raising funds and not pushing many updates. You kept the counterparty lights on but didn't improve a thing.
Counterparty is better than ever now maybe you can update the free wallet accordingly - 22 October 2024 (626 messages)
-
I raised funds a few times for a community manager and paid them to put out community updates each month in a newsletter, organize dev meetings and updates.
I raised funds a few times for exchange listings to get Counterparty listed on exchanges after many years of having no exchange listings
I rasised funds to help cover some of my costs hosting xchain.io and building freewallet for many years on my own dime (never raised enough to cover my costs)
I DID raise funds to fund Javier and I going full-time on counterparty for 3 years, and we would have LOVED to push a bunch of changes into counterparty, and proposed quite a few, however as this was a COMMUNITY driven project at the time, and there was not enough community consensus to force changes into the protocol, we held off on forcing contentious changes into the protocol.
YES, you are seeing lots of updates now, however the circumstances have changed, and the core devs have taken control, decided what THEY feel are the best changes for CP, and pushed them forward without listening to what the community really wants or feels about some of these changes. Some of these improvements are great and move things in the right direction, some are not and take functionality backwards. In addition the current devs have scrapped the whole idea of "community driven updates", by essentially throwing away Counterparty Improvement Proposals (CIPS) which is how Counterparty users and devs proposed updates and discussed them and moved them forward. Now it is just the core devs who decide what is "no longer necessary" and what needs to be "depreciated" or changed, and move these initiatives forward on their own, without community consensus.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but lets be very clear, I have never profited from my involvement with Counterparty, most of the funds I raised went to pay for community members and developers to keep things alive and push forward changes.
I stuck around counterparty and funded it for many years (to the tune of $100k+) out of my own pocket, because I believed in the truly decentralized community driven nature of the project.
My views have changed, and I have moved on, and am only engaging enough to ensure that the tools that I have built, and which the community relies on to interact with Counterparty, continue to work. -
-
BTW... just pushed updates to tokenscan.io that now display fairmints and fairminters (instead of displaying all fairmints as issuances)... and also updated Tokenscan.io with fairminters list which shows the fairminters (tokens you can mint), and the total supply and amount of the supply minted in both Amount and perecntage.... Green == You Can mint... Yellow == Close to minting out... Red = Done minting

Beautiful dividend sended to all the GAMESOFTRUMP holders I hope that all like this jeje
-
Thanks for the reply I hear what you're saying. You did keep the lights on and you did do what you could do with the resources you had.
However the new devs without direct funding from community members have pushed many new updates and i see more happening now then ever before.
I'm hoping they stay I'm hoping they do what they feel is best and I hope they do listen to the community.
I'm also keenly aware that the community can often be divided which makes decisions take forever if at all.
I even remember voting was debated on whether or not voting based on holding was fair. Literally a debate about voting and what vote counts as a vote.
Anyways the new xcp actually has potential. I'm cheering for the devs and hoping for new updates and growth -
Actually... Devs took about 30K direct funding from the Community in Jan.. then when that ran out started a company and took on $670k of VC funds to continue development... To each their own, but just want to be clear, they are not just building on the protocol without being paid... They have VC funds to back their for-profit company and ventures... and ALSO are building on the supposed "community driven" counterparty protocol. PPL can decide for themselves how they feel about that... felt the clarification was important around not taking funds to build from community or others, as it is untrue.

You have a for-profit company as well. Just because you failed to monetize it terribly well doesn’t mean you aren’t trying to make income from it.

People being paid for the work they do isn’t a bad thing.
-
LOL... ok vector... I built coindaddy, llc to make registering asset names easier, and charged a $5 fee... because issuing assets was confusing for some users, never turned a profit, as it was not my focus, building tools to make all this stuff easier to use was my goal, and I achieved it. Some things are more important than profit.
-
If that 670K figure is accurate they are getting a hell of a lot done with it. I think you took 500K in btc donations and then were accepting again a year later?
-
-
Cool, me too.
-
I don’t feel offended, I am just also stating facts
-
I took $600K in funds to dev for 3 years, the market took a shit, that $600k held in BTC turned into $200k... and I stuck around funding Counterparty development out of my own funds for the remaining 2 years.... didn't raise anymore funds, didn't say "ooops, ran out of funds" and walked... I stuck by my word and kept funding servers and development out of my own pocket to the tune of $200k/year... going $400K into my personal hole to support CP

Just facts, don’t get offended

In the nature of open source do we know who these "VC's" are?
-
-
what could be offered to VC's as a potential return? There's no token to give them so not sure I understand what they're investing in?
-
The fact that this info is not publicly disclosed or discussed here by anyone on the dev team, and has to be exposed by a community member kinda begs the question... why? As devs in an open-source "community" driven project, I would think the devs would want to be as transparent as possible in order to ensure that their motives were not questioned, and were in line with the community values to date. 🤷♂️

Hello,
I'm playing with the utxo attach function and some questions arises for me.
Should we standardize a value for counterparty utxos?
Should we use 546 like ordinals and runes or would be better to go for another number (eg:547) to avoid confusions and to be able to easy recognize them.
Maybe it doesn't matter very much and is up to the platform that uses it but I believe standardize them is a good practice, want to know your thoughts -
No we don't use standards value .which could give us specific utxo counter party risk free asset like Bitcoin backed stable coin on counterparty in the future
-
-
I know that at protocol level there is not a limitation but we can have a consensus on the value between the people using the feature
-
-
I am facing issues also wit balance API results for addresses holding an asset both in account basis and utxo basis explained in this github issue:
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2538API Route for (address and balance) and (balance) does not shows correct data when there is utxo attached in tha address · Issue #2538 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-corethis address holds 295 units of the asset from that 295 units there is one attached to utxo, api call just shows that unit attached to utxo: https://api.counterparty.io:4000/v2/addresses/bc1qwfmtwe...
-
yes but despite we can keep protocol level flexible we can have some consensus at application level to use it in normal use cases
